The benefits are: generating the mind of enlightenment, the supreme vehicle, etc., four in total. The great vehicle's mind of enlightenment is like the pillar of the supreme vehicle's path. It is the basis and support for the arising, abiding, and increasing of the six perfections and other vast practices. It transforms the two accumulations of merit and wisdom into complete enlightenment, like the essence of alchemy that transforms iron ore into gold, and it is a great treasure of merit that gathers vast collections of virtues. This text also explains the reason why that mind must be generated, and by "basis and support" it also explains the great vehicle's mind of enlightenment, which is also the gateway to the great vehicle's path. Second, the way to generate it is: after knowing this, etc., two parts. After knowing the characteristics or benefits of the great vehicle's mind of enlightenment, the brave bodhisattvas, sons of the Victorious Ones, who are able to engage in the benefit of others, should act as if they hold the precious and supreme mind of wanting to attain Buddhahood for the sake of all sentient beings as the main practice or the core of their vows. Like Jetsun, etc., as before. Second, there are six ways to train in conduct: generosity, discipline, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom. The first is divided into two, the first being the characteristics or benefits: generosity, beings, etc., four in total. The generosity of giving one's body, possessions, etc., to others is like a wish-fulfilling jewel that fulfills the hopes of beggars and sentient beings. In order to cut off attachment to things, it is the supreme weapon for cutting the knot of miserliness. It is the practice of a bodhisattva who is not afraid to benefit sentient beings and generates courage, and it is the basis for the fame and reputation of the giver to spread in all directions. Second, the way to give is: after knowing this, etc. After knowing this principle, the wise should rely on the virtuous path of completely giving one's own body, food, wealth, and other possessions, as well as all happiness and virtue, to others. "Possessions" also include material generosity, and "virtue" also includes the generosity of the Dharma. Fearless generosity is naturally obtained. The second is divided into two as before, the first being: discipline, misdeeds, etc., four in total. Discipline is the restraint of misdeeds, the accumulation of virtuous Dharma, and the benefit of sentient beings, three things.

If mainly focusing on preventing misdeeds, then discipline is like water that washes away the dirt of misdeeds from the three doors of body, speech, and mind, like the moonlight that alleviates the burning pain of afflictions, and the person who relies on the protector is as majestic as Mount Sumeru in the midst of beings. With such power, one can subdue all beings without being harmed by others. Second, the method of guarding is: Knowing this, etc. Knowing this, one should guard the discipline that has been properly taken, just as the holy ones of the past guarded their eyes. Third, there are two parts, the first is: Patience is powerful, etc., four verses. Patience is divided into three types: accepting suffering, not minding harm, and gaining certainty about the Dharma. Here, mainly focusing on the directly indicated middle part, which is patience towards harm. Patience is the supreme ornament that adorns the powerful Bodhisattvas who can bear the burden of harm. Although there are many ascetic practices to counter the burning of the fire of afflictions, patience is the most excellent of all ascetic practices, just like the Garuda, although the enemies of the Nagas are many, it can soar in the sky. For the arrows of harsh words thrown by others, patience is like a hard armor that cannot be pierced. Second, the method of cultivating it is: Knowing this, etc. Knowing this, regarding the excellence of patience, one should make it familiar in one's own mind stream in various ways, just as the holy ones of the past did for their own armor. Fourth, there are two parts, the first is: Diligence is divided into three, the first is: Irreversible and firm, etc., four verses. Mainly focusing on the armor of diligence, if one puts on the armor of irreversible and firm diligence, then all the qualities of learning and realization will increase like the waxing moon. All actions will become meaningful, and the final results of all the tasks one undertakes will be accomplished as one wishes. Second, the method of initiating diligence is: Knowing this, etc. As mentioned above, knowing this, in order to eliminate all procrastination and laziness, one should initiate great diligence just like the Buddhas of the past.
