Because there are three reasons that would harm the idea that "I" will perish. The first harm is: Generally, "I" or "self" is the taker of the aggregates, and the aggregates are what is taken by "I". If such an "I" becomes one with the five aggregates, then it will merge with them and become an indivisible whole. For an indivisible whole, it is unreasonable to distinguish who is the taker and what is taken. As the Root Wisdom says: "How can the taker become the taken?" If such a distinction is unreasonable, then even "I" does not exist. As the Root Wisdom says: "If, apart from the taker, it is said that there is a self, if the taker is the self, then your self does not exist." The difference between the taker and what is taken is: I say "I took the body", "This is my body", "This is my mind", etc. Through these words, I and body and mind are considered different, and we must think and accept it that way. If they are one, then there will be "the body took me", "I am the body", "I am the mind", etc., which will become the fault of having to say and accept it that way. Furthermore, that is unreasonable. If that is the case, then there will be faults such as having to be born in the next life together with the aggregates without dying here. Therefore, do not think that such an "I" is one with the aggregates. Second, there will be the fault of "I" becoming multiple. Generally, it is not a fault for one person to have multiple "I" in different lives and different times. However, if the "I" grasped by "I-grasping" becomes one with the aggregates, then just as one person has five different aggregates at the same time, it will also become the fault of having five different "I". Or, just as "I" is one, the five aggregates will also become one. Therefore, think like this, do not think that they are one. As the Introduction says: "If you say that the aggregates are me, then because the aggregates are many, I should also become many." Third, there will be the fault of such an "I" becoming a phenomenon of arising and ceasing. Generally, it is not contradictory for just "I" to arise and cease. However, if the "I" grasped by "I-grasping" arises and ceases, then
