From the Entering the Middle Way: "Why is it that it does not cease by its own nature? Therefore, even without a basis, this is possible. For some, even after a long time has passed since the cessation of karma, know that the result will still arise correctly." As it is said, it is accepted that even though the karma previously done has ceased and a long time has passed, it can still produce results. If it is accepted that karma is established by its own nature, then its cessation would not be reasonable as an entity. However, since karma is not born from its own nature, it does not cease by its own nature. Even so, it is accepted that the cessation of karma exists nominally. Moreover, since the cessation of karma and the cessation of that cessation, etc., are also entities, not only do the results of karma arise from them, but also the general "I" that is imputed in dependence on the aggregates accompanies all births. Since that itself is considered the basis for imprinting karmic imprints, karma and its results are extremely reasonable, and there is no fault of falling into permanence or annihilation. There is also an example of a result that is empty of its own nature arising from a cause that is empty of its own nature, such as an image arising from the interdependent relationship of a face, a mirror, and a collection of appearances. As it is said in the Entering the Middle Way: "Empty things, such as images, etc., are dependent on a collection of causes and are not unmanifested. Just as there, from empty images, etc., the aspect of that consciousness arises, likewise, even though all things are empty, they will arise completely from emptiness." Therefore, sound, echoes, etc., should also be applied similarly. There is also an example of a result arising from previously ceased karma, such as dreaming of playing with a beautiful woman in a dream, and when one wakes up, even though the woman in the dream has ceased, attachment to her arises. As it is said in the Entering the Middle Way: "Just as a fool, having seen the objects of attachment in a dream, develops attachment even after waking up, likewise, even from karma that has ceased and is not of its own nature, there can be a result." As it is said. Although the cessation of karma can produce results, it is not the case that it produces them endlessly after ripening once, nor is it the case that the results of two karmas mature in a mixed-up way. For example, although they are equally non-existent in any location, it appears as if hairs are falling in the visual consciousness of someone with cataracts.
