When (the seed) exists, the seed itself does not change its nature and transfer to the sprout. Moreover, it does not come from somewhere other than the seed itself. If according to the former statement, then in the stage of sprout growth, the seed must also exist as it originally was, so there would be the fault of the seed being permanent. If according to the latter statement, then the sprout's production does not depend on the seed, so there would be the fault of the seed being annihilated. Therefore, the sprout arises dependent on its own seed, not naturally. Furthermore, it says in that (sutra): "From copper appears an ornament of copper, but the copper does not transfer; it is not in that, nor in another place, thus assembled things are impermanent and not discontinuous." As it says, just as the shape of an ornament appears from copper, when it appears on the basis of processing, the copper itself does not transfer to the basis of processing, nor does it come from somewhere other than the copper. Taking this as an example, all compounded things, when producing fruit, arise in a way that has never existed before, newly born, but not in a way that their own nature has existed from the beginning from anywhere. When the cause ceases, it does not go anywhere, because there is no coming and going of unchanging nature, so coming and going does not exist in its own nature. Furthermore, the Samadhiraja Sutra says: "Like illusion, like space, like clouds, like the moon in water, like a mirage, some people die in this world, but do not go to another world, nor do they go away." As it says, this shows that although the death and transfer of sentient beings exist nominally like illusions, etc., the agent of death and transfer and the death and transfer itself are without self-nature. That is to say, when dying from here and being reborn in another world, it is not that the current body and mind go to the next life together, nor is there a self (आत्मा,ātman, self) different from the body and mind that goes there. Even so, it is reasonable to say death and transfer nominally, and I have explained the reason for this in a little more detail elsewhere according to the view of the sutras. Furthermore, when saying that a house will be built from earth, stones, wood, etc., the house is neither an aggregate of earth, stones, wood, etc., nor a part of them, nor is it in them. However, it depends on the good aggregation of conditions.

When a house is built, the house does not come from the foundation itself, nor from within it, nor from anything else. When it collapses, it does not go anywhere. However, its result is not non-existent. Furthermore, when one intends to make cloth from threads, the cloth to be made is not present in the threads now, like a rabbit's horn, but this is considering the future result. Even so, one cannot make a rabbit's horn from threads, but one can make cloth. If the cloth existed in the threads, then the cloth that has already been produced would need to be produced again, and when all the threads are gathered together, the cloth would necessarily be present in those gatherings, and each thread would produce a piece of cloth. Therefore, cloth is produced by the power of causes and conditions, not by its own nature. As Aryadeva said: Cloth is produced from causes, and causes are also produced from others, if something is not produced by itself, how can it produce other things? Therefore, it is said. Similarly, when one intends to make other clothes such as hats, shoes, robes, skirts, etc., one should understand through the previous reasoning that they are not produced from themselves or by their own power, but are merely imputed names produced by relying on the conditions of others. In short, when one intends to attain Buddhahood, etc., or intends to do these or those worldly and Dharma activities in the future, all the Buddhahood to be attained and all the things that will happen in the future do not exist now, and all the things that will happen in the future should be understood through the previous reasoning that they are merely imputed names, not produced by their own nature. Second, the method of refuting the other extreme is: by the reasoning that refutes self-existence, self-cessation is also refuted, because if there is no self-existence, then self-cessation is unreasonable. As it is said in the Root Wisdom: When the arising of all phenomena is not reasonable, then the cessation of all phenomena is also not reasonable. Therefore, it is said. The cessation of karma and afflictions, for example, is a subject, it is not inherently non-existent, because it arises from the exhaustion of the power of its own cause, such as the existence of karma and afflictions. The permanence that lasts for a long time is a subject, it is not inherently non-existent, because it depends on its own parts.
