It must depend on other causes and conditions. If that is the case, then it becomes born from others, because that is how it is established, and not born from autonomy or self-nature. As it is said in the Sutra Requested by Ajatashatru: 'Whatever is born from conditions is not truly born. Because it does not have the nature of being born. Whatever depends on conditions is said to be empty. Whoever knows emptiness is a cautious person.' The Root Wisdom also says: 'Whatever arises dependently, its self-nature is pacified.' Arya Deva also says: 'Whatever arises depending on something, that is not autonomous and unchanging.' Therefore, proving that things are without self-nature by the reason of dependent origination has benefits such as cutting the net of wrong views, and is therefore said to be worthy of praise. As Chandrakirti says in the Entering the Middle Way: 'Because things arise dependently, these discriminations cannot be examined. Therefore, with this reasoning of dependent origination, one cuts all nets of wrong views.' The Praise of Dependent Origination also says: 'Whatever depends on conditions, that is empty of self-nature. What is so amazing about saying this? What kind of good instruction is there?' Therefore, in your teachings, seeing dependent origination is praised as excellent.' That is why it is said. The second part has two points: stating the previous position and refuting it. The first is: the meaning of self-birth is not that oneself is born from oneself, but the non-Buddhist Samkhya school believes that for something to be born, something that generally exists must be born; if it does not exist, it will not be born. Therefore, things that are to be born will not be born if they do not exist at the time of their own cause. Therefore, they say that things are born from existing in an unclear way at the time of their own cause, but they do not want something that has already been born to be born again. That is, the world generally says that a sprout is born from its own cause, and if it does not exist at the time of its own cause, how can it be said to be born from that? Furthermore, there is one common result born from the collection of many causes and conditions, and it is not possible without one chief that is of the same nature as those causes and conditions. Therefore, from one general chief that is inseparable in nature from those causes and conditions, various changes

They say that phenomena arise like rainbows from the sky. Most non-Buddhists and self-sustaining schools below the Svatantrika school believe that things arise from other causes that are different from their own nature, that is, arising from others. The Naked Ones believe that the pottery pot arises from the nature of clay, so it is self-arising; it also arises depending on potters, etc., so it also arises from others; and they believe that beings are the nature of previous lives, so arising is self-arising; and it arises depending on parents and previous karma, so it is considered to be arising from others. The Lokayatas believe that the sharpness of thorns, the roundness of lentils, and the color of peacock feathers, etc., arise naturally even without any action like a hand, so they believe that they arise from no cause. Second, refuting these views. The Blessed One said in the Root Wisdom Treatise: "Not from self, not from other, not from both, not from no cause." and so on. Therefore, all phenomena, dharmas, are not produced by their own nature, because they are not produced from self, other, both, and no cause. If it arises from itself, it will fall into the faults of meaninglessness and endlessness. For example, the sprout that has already been produced, dharma, is meaningless to be produced again, because it has already obtained its own nature. If there is no pervasion, then being produced again will be endless, because it has already obtained its own nature, but still needs to be produced again. To make this easier to understand, if the sprout arises from itself in the state in which its cause exists, then it must have been completely produced. Therefore, it is meaningless to produce a sprout again. If it is meaningful to produce it again, then it must be produced constantly at all times without a moment of not being produced, which is unreasonable. As Chandrakirti said in the Entering the Middle Way: "If that arises from that, what virtue or ability is there? It is not reasonable to be born again after being born. If it is assumed that it will be born again after being born, then sprouts and so on will never be found here, and seeds will become constantly born to the end of existence." Therefore. According to our own system, things like sprouts, even if they do not exist when their cause exists, arise in the form of seeds, which is not contradictory, because this is the way of dependent arising. Furthermore, things like sprouts, nature
