Because it is said that the Pure Land is not the truth of suffering, Sukhavati and its ordinary beings are not the truth of suffering. Apart from that, other ordinary beings and their aggregates of appropriation, as well as the karma and afflictions in their continuums, are definitely various kinds of suffering and accumulation. Because the continuum of Hinayana noble beings has aggregates of appropriation, it has both the truth of suffering and the arising of karma. However, the continuum of Mahayana noble beings has neither the truth of suffering nor the truth of accumulation, so the karma and afflictions in their continuum are also not the origin. The suffering of suffering and the suffering of change exist in the desire realm, but not in the higher realms. The suffering of conditioned existence exists in all three realms. Some wise people think that suffering and accumulation are synonymous, while others think that they are contradictory. Others think that if it is the truth of accumulation, then it must be the truth of suffering, but if it is the truth of suffering, then it is not necessarily the truth of accumulation. Therefore, although it seems a bit difficult to study, the way the great chariot Thogme (Asanga) actually explained it is as mentioned above. Furthermore, some wise people think that if it is the truth of suffering, then it must be suffering. But some people think that the joy that is a branch of meditation in the continuum of ordinary beings, and the pleasant feeling that is the result of ripening from doing good deeds, although they are the truth of suffering, are not suffering. I think the latter is reasonable, but it needs to be studied. The Lamrim says that the special virtues aroused by the thought of renunciation in the continuum of ordinary beings, as well as the mind of enlightenment and the wisdom of realizing selflessness, are not the truth of accumulation. And most of the virtues that are not encompassed by these (special virtues, the mind of enlightenment, and the wisdom of realizing selflessness) are considered to be the truth of accumulation. Fifth, regarding how to prove the aspects: the four truths have sixteen aspects, such as impermanence. Among them, the aspects of the truth of suffering are four, namely impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and selflessness. The aggregates of appropriation, the subject, is the aspect of impermanence, because it sometimes arises. It is suffering, because it is subject to karma and afflictions. It is empty, because it is empty of a controlling self. It is the aspect of selflessness, because there is no independent self.

Because it is not established. By remembering and meditating in this way, one gradually abandons the four inversions of clinging to the aggregates as permanent, clinging to them as pleasurable, clinging to them as pure, and clinging to them as self. The aspects of the truth of the origin of suffering are four: cause, origin, production, and condition. Conditioned karma and afflictions, in terms of their nature, are the aspect of cause, because they are the root of suffering, their own result. They are origin, because they also produce all suffering, their own result. They are production, because they intensely produce suffering. They are the aspect of condition, because they are the co-operative condition of suffering, their own result. By meditating in this way, one gradually abandons the conceptions of clinging to suffering as without cause, clinging to it as caused by a single cause, clinging to it as caused by Ishvara and so on, and clinging to it as having a permanent nature that changes temporarily. The aspects of the truth of cessation are four: cessation, peace, excellence, and definite emergence. The separation of completely abandoning all suffering, in terms of its nature, is the aspect of cessation, because it is the separation of abandoning suffering. It is peace, because it is the separation of abandoning afflictions. It is excellence, because it is liberation that has transformed into the nature of benefit and happiness. It is definite emergence, because it is liberation from which there is no return. By meditating in this way, one gradually abandons the conceptions of clinging to liberation as completely non-existent, clinging to certain conditioned distinctions as liberation, clinging to certain natures of suffering as liberation, and clinging to liberation as existent but subject to return. The aspects of the truth of the path are four: path, practice, reason, and definite emergence. The wisdom that directly realizes selflessness, in terms of its nature, is the aspect of path, because it is the actual path that leads to liberation or a path belonging to it. It is practice, because it is the wisdom that directly realizes various kinds of selflessness. It is reason, because it is the path that is the antidote to afflictions. It is the aspect of definite emergence, because it is the wisdom that makes suffering non-returning. By meditating in this way, one gradually abandons clinging to the path to liberation as completely non-existent, clinging to certain natures of meditative absorption as the path to liberation, and clinging to certain conditioned distinctions as the path to liberation.
