Having entered, the entire body and mind are pervaded by well-being and virtue, and meditate on loving-kindness. Also, simultaneously with inhaling air through the nostrils, visualize all her sins, obscurations, and sufferings being drawn in as black rays of light riding on the wind, exiting from the mother's right nostril, entering from one's own left nostril, and forming a black mass in the heart. Thinking that in this way all suffering is separated, cultivate compassion alternately and repeatedly. Then, gradually practice in this way for the father and others as well. Generate the mind of enlightenment, thinking, "I shall attain Buddhahood for their sake." Gradually meditating on the mother and others is for the sake of making the ascertainment firm. In short, when practicing, it is also good to commonly focus on all sentient beings and think in this way. Second, there are two ways to learn conduct: learning the six perfections and the four means of gathering disciples. First, even if the mind of enlightenment is generated, if one does not train in the conduct of a Bodhisattva, one will not attain Buddhahood. In general, the divisions of conduct are limitless, but Lord Maitreya said that if all conduct is summarized, it can be included in the six perfections. The ways of summarizing and determining the number are: determining the number in terms of higher realms, accomplishing the two benefits, the Great Vehicle, gathering disciples, the aspect of skillful means, and the three trainings. Here, if the essential meaning is briefly stated, it is the six perfections. First, the mind of giving is virtuous, and the mind at the time when body and speech are engaged in giving, which is induced by it, is the nature of giving. By being grasped by the dedication that dedicates to complete enlightenment, when the habituation is completely perfected, it becomes the perfection of giving. The divisions are three: giving of Dharma, giving of fearlessness, and giving of material things. How to give? It is necessary to focus on the need to think, "By relying on this, I shall perfect the perfection of giving," to focus on the object, thinking, "From the beginning, I have already given, so it is like receiving a deposit," and to focus on the field of merit, thinking, "These recipients are virtuous friends who accomplish my perfection of giving." In short, one should give with a bright face, etc., in a way that possesses these three distinctions. The giving of Dharma is: directly teaching the Dharma, or explaining what should be adopted and abandoned in the manner of conversation, etc. The giving of fearlessness is: making others...

From the fear of kings, enemies, fire, water, etc., to actually protect by one's own power and to take measures to escape from them. Material giving is: to strive to give food, drink, clothing, jewels, horses, and so on, in various ways. Even if one cannot actually do it oneself, one should become accustomed to the mind of giving one's body, possessions, happiness, virtue, and all things in a manner appropriate to each situation. That is, when the breath goes out from one's nostrils, one should mentally transform one's body, possessions, etc., into whatever is needed and give them away, thinking that the wishes of those beings are fulfilled. This is said to be the giving of the wise. If it is not the time to give, or if one is unable to do so, one can dedicate those objects to the Three Jewels and think like this: How could these objects ever become my possessions? These belong to the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, etc. Even if one holds them with such discrimination, it is said to be very beneficial because it is a skillful means. Secondly, the mind of renunciation, turning away from the basis of harming others, is the essence of ethics. Ethics has three aspects: the discipline of abstaining from evil, the discipline of accumulating virtue, and the discipline of benefiting sentient beings. In terms of how to protect them, the discipline of abstaining from evil is: to protect the Pratimoksha vows that one has taken and the vows to abandon the ten non-virtuous actions, and to examine whether one's own mind has been stained by those faults. If one is stained by faults, one should strive to repent and apply the four opponent powers. The discipline of accumulating virtue is: the virtuous actions of body and speech of a Bodhisattva. That is, to strive in the three trainings of hearing, thinking, and meditating, to attend to one's lama, parents, and the sick, to praise the Three Jewels, those who teach the Dharma, and those who have qualities, to cultivate joy in virtue, to make offerings to the Three Jewels, to dedicate one's virtue to complete enlightenment, to rely on spiritual friends and mindfulness, to confess one's faults, and so on, and to strive in these virtuous practices. The discipline of benefiting sentient beings is: the Bodhisattva's benefiting of sentient beings. Although it is said that there are eleven activities of benefiting sentient beings, this is not definitive, because there are countless ways in which a Bodhisattva benefits sentient beings. In short, in order to accomplish as much as possible the work of benefiting sentient beings through both thought and action, one should strive from now on, and for those things that one cannot do
