The Red Instructions on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment, Easy to Carry and Beneficial to All. The Red Instructions on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment, Easy to Carry and Beneficial to All. This is the Red Instructions on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment, Easy to Carry and Beneficial to All. Namo Guru Manjughoshaya (藏文,梵文天城体:नमः गुरु मञ्जुघोषाया,梵文罗马拟音:namaḥ guru mañjughoṣāya,汉语字面意思:Homage to the Guru Manjughosha). To the Supreme Sage, the Fearless Manjushri. Nagarjuna's feet and Asanga, Atisha. Dromton Konchok Gyalpo, Tsongkhapa, and others. To the lineage lamas, I respectfully prostrate. Here, from the perfectly complete Buddha to the root guru, the stages of the path to enlightenment, passed down in succession, the essential instructions for practice, easy to carry and concise, are presented in three parts: preliminaries, main practice, and conclusion. The first has two parts: the preliminary refuge and bodhicitta, and the main practice of relying on a spiritual friend. The first is: Clean the place, arrange the representations of body, speech, and mind. Arrange the offerings well. First, taking refuge: The guru, the victorious ones, and all the Three Jewels with their retinues, visualize them actually appearing and residing in the sky in front of you. Or, even if not, generate strong faith. The common nature and the particular self, from beginningless time until now, have experienced unbearable suffering in samsara and the three lower realms. Remembering the way you still experience it now. With a strong mind of sadness and fear, and with the hope and expectation that you know, with a strong mind of entrusting trust, remembering their qualities, recite: I and all beings, from this time until reaching the essence of enlightenment, take refuge in the glorious and holy lamas. I take refuge in the Blessed Buddhas. I take refuge in the Holy Dharma. I take refuge in the Noble Sangha. Seven or twenty-one times, a hundred times, a thousand times, etc., in the intervals or at the end of reciting as much as possible. I take refuge in the guru and the Three Jewels. Grant your blessings so that the stages of the path of the three types of individuals may quickly arise in my mindstream. Recite seven or twenty-one times, etc. Although not explicitly stated here, at that time, immeasurable white rays of light emanate from the bodies of those objects of refuge. Entering into your crown, etc., purify all collections of faults without exception.
