Even if those belonging to their own lineage do not seek Buddhahood from their own paths, those paths are methods for attaining Buddhahood. As stated in the "Praise of Names": "The definite emergence of the three vehicles, abides in the fruit of one vehicle." Therefore, if someone asks: Why is the path of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers said to be an obstacle to the swift Buddhahood of Bodhisattvas? Answer: There is no fault. Although that path is an obstacle to the swift Buddhahood of Bodhisattvas, there is no contradiction in it being a method for the Buddhahood of Hearers and Solitary Realizers. The second part is divided into two points: the two divisions of the Great Vehicle, and the detailed explanation of the distinctions for entering the Vajra Vehicle. The first part is divided into three points: the number of divisions, the meaning of each division, and the reason for the division. The first point is: As stated in the "Entering the Meaning of Tantra": "The vehicle of Bodhisattvas is also twofold, namely the vehicle of grounds and perfections, and the vehicle of secret mantra fruit." Therefore, the Perfection Vehicle and the Cause Vehicle, and the Vehicle of Non-Attachment are synonymous; while the Mantra Vehicle and the Fruit Vehicle, and the Vajra Vehicle and the Vehicle of Attachment are synonymous. The second point is: The meaning of "Perfection" in the Perfection Vehicle is easy to understand. Because it is secret to non-vessels and accomplished in secret, it is called secret. The Sanskrit word for mantra is "mantra," where "manā" means "mind" and "traya" means "protection," hence it is called mantra. This is the meaning of the term secret mantra. Because it is a method for proceeding to the fruit, it is called a vehicle. In general, the vehicle is also divided into the Cause Vehicle, which proceeds by this, and the Fruit Vehicle, which proceeds here. The Great Cause Vehicle refers to a vehicle by which one desires to place all sentient beings in the state of Buddhahood. As stated in the "Compendium": "Why is this called the Great Bodhi Vehicle? Because by riding it, all sentient beings are turned away from suffering." The meaning of the Fruit Vehicle is: the yoga that is practiced in accordance with the four qualities of the Buddha's abode, enjoyment, and activity, hence it is called that. If one does not practice in this way, but takes the causal path as practice, then it also becomes the Cause Vehicle. The meaning of the Vajra Vehicle is: the path of the Perfections and the path of Mantras both

This is the path of practicing without distinction. The Buddha's words that reveal the Secret Mantra Vehicle are called Tantra, as stated in the Uttaratantra of the Compendium: "Tantra is known as continuity." Therefore, the meaning of Tantra is continuous. Generally, there are three types of Tantra: the Ground Tantra, the Path Tantra, and the Fruition Tantra, which are the objects to be expressed. The Victor's words that express these are the expressing scriptures of Tantra. These Tantras are included in the three pitakas as appropriate, and are mainly explained as belonging to the Sutra Pitaka, while some explain them as the fourth pitaka. The third part has two points: raising points of doubt and answering them. The first point is: How is the Great Vehicle divided into two? It is not through the generation of Bodhicitta, view, or conduct, because both Great Vehicles possess these. It is also not merely through the sharpness or dullness of faculties, because among the disciples of Mantra, there are those with sharp and dull faculties. The second part has two points: the actual reason for dividing the two vehicles, and showing that although there are superior and inferior paths, there is no such difference in the result. The first point has three parts: the actual meaning, citing sources, and refuting arguments. The first point is: Here, there is no difference between Mantra and Paramita in the Vehicle of the Fruition Buddha, which is to be traversed, because the Buddhas to be attained by both are the same in terms of exhausting faults and perfecting qualities. Therefore, this distinguishes the difference in the causal vehicle of traversing. It is also not distinguishing superiority or inferiority through aspects such as view, Bodhicitta, conduct, the six perfections, etc., because both Mantra and Paramita equally require these. So, what distinguishes them? In general, the Greater and Lesser Vehicles are not distinguished by the wisdom that realizes emptiness, but must be distinguished by skillful means. In particular, the division of the Great Vehicle into two is also not through wisdom, but must be through skillful means. The main aspect of skillful means is from the perspective of the means of accomplishing the Form Body, and the method of accomplishing that body is through the presence or absence of deity yoga, which meditates on the form similar to it, because this is not present in other Great Vehicles, but is present in Mantra.
