Moreover, regarding the vehicle by which these two each proceed to their respective positions, there are also two vehicles. The former is called the Lesser Vehicle or the Inferior, and the latter is called the Great Vehicle or the Supreme. The beings to be tamed by the Lesser Vehicle are also of two types: Hearers and Solitary Realizers. Therefore, the vehicle of progression is divided into two: the Hearer Vehicle and the Solitary Realizer Vehicle, thus making three vehicles. Third, regarding the nature of each of the three, there are two: the classification of the Lesser Vehicle and the Great Vehicle. The first is that although there are superior and inferior aspects in terms of faculties and results for Hearers and Solitary Realizers, the Noble Asanga stated that the classification of the path is mostly the same. Both of these enter solely for the sake of liberating themselves from samsara. Therefore, the main cause for liberation from it is also the same: understanding the meaning of selflessness and meditating on it. The Vaibhashikas, Sautrantikas, Cittamatrins, and Svatantrikas believe that the selflessness that Hearers and Solitary Realizers, as noble beings, mainly meditate on in order to attain their own enlightenment is understanding and meditating on the selflessness of a substantially existent self posited by outsiders. However, they do not accept that one understands that phenomena and persons are not established from the beginning by their own characteristics and mainly meditates on that. But the glorious Chandrakirti believes that if one does not understand and become accustomed to the fact that phenomena and persons are not established by their own nature or by their own characteristics, one cannot even attain liberation. Therefore, our own system should follow this, because it is not only the ultimate view of the Noble Nagarjuna, but it is also established by reasoning. Now, how is it that in many sutras of the Lesser Vehicle, the Teacher did not clearly teach many of the Hearer and Solitary Realizer lineages about how phenomena and persons are not established by their own nature, but by teaching about impermanence, suffering, and aversion to samsara, many of the Hearer lineages immediately attained their own enlightenment? Although it is true, it does not become a fault, because it is due to the blessings of the Buddha and the power of the maturation of the disciples' minds. By merely teaching in that way, they immediately understood subtle emptiness and were able to attain liberation, and therefore they are different from present beings. As the Noble Nagarjuna said: By knowing birth, one knows destruction; by knowing destruction, one knows impermanence; by knowing how to enter into impermanence, one also understands the sacred Dharma.

'gyur. Those who understand dependent arising have completely abandoned birth and destruction. Those who have realized this have crossed the ocean of existence. As it is said. Well then, in the sutras of the Lesser Vehicle, subtle emptiness is also taught, and if Lesser Vehicle practitioners also meditate on it, will they not become indistinguishable from Great Vehicle practitioners? No, they will not. The noble Nagarjuna said: In the Hearer Vehicle, the aspiration and conduct of a Bodhisattva and the dedication are not taught, how can one become a Bodhisattva? As it is said. The difference between the Great and Lesser Vehicles is not in view, but in intention and special conduct. Second, the Great Vehicle is: The arising of the mind is for the sake of others, desiring perfect and complete enlightenment. As it is said. Specifically, for the benefit of all sentient beings, wanting to attain unsurpassed enlightenment and generating the mind, and diligently studying the six perfections, this is the common path of the Great Vehicle practitioners, and the practitioners of the Mantra Vehicle should also study in this way. Among them, if divided from the perspective of view, there are the Madhyamaka and Cittamatra schools, but there is no order of different vehicles. Among the Madhyamaka and Cittamatra schools, the Madhyamaka lineage is the main object to be tamed, and the Cittamatra is the ordinary object to be tamed. The former has sharp faculties, and the latter has dull faculties compared to the former. If one abides in the Madhyamaka view of realizing subtle selflessness, it is not necessarily that one belongs to the Great Vehicle lineage, because even if the Hearers who abide in this do not proclaim a tenet, there are Hearer and Solitary Realizer saints. Therefore, the actual Hearers and the Hearers who proclaim a tenet are the same in name, but there is a great difference in meaning. In the tenets of the Paramita Vehicle, although it is said that one attains Buddhahood after three countless eons, there is a great difference in the speed of traveling the path. For example, traveling the path like a cart pulled by cattle and elephants, traveling like the moon and the sun, and traveling like the miraculous powers of Hearers, Solitary Realizers, and Buddhas, therefore there is also a difference in the speed of the result. Even so, there is no difference between the Great and Lesser Vehicles, only the difference between sharp and dull inner faculties. Fourth is: Hearer
