Except for those two endowed with the path, the remaining persons, everywhere, do not abandon the latent tendency of conceit, and do not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and aversion. If one does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and aversion from that, does one not abandon the latent tendency of wrong view... ...does one not abandon the latent tendency of doubt from that? The eighth person, in the sense-sphere, in three feelings, in the form-sphere, in the formless-sphere, does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and aversion from that, but one does abandon the latent tendency of doubt from that. That same person, when not included, does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and aversion from that, and does not abandon the latent tendency of doubt from that. Except for one endowed with the non-returner's path and the eighth person, the remaining persons, everywhere, (do not abandon) sensual desire They do not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust, and the latent tendency of aversion, and the latent tendency of doubt. Or again, whoever from which does not abandon the latent tendency of doubt, does he from that not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust and the latent tendency of aversion? One endowed with the Anāgāmi path, in painful feeling, he from that does not abandon the latent tendency of doubt and the latent tendency of sensual lust, but he from that does abandon the latent tendency of aversion. That same person, in the sense-sphere, in two feelings, he from that does not abandon the latent tendency of doubt and the latent tendency of aversion, but he from that does abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust. That same person, in the form-sphere, in the formless-sphere, or not included, he from that does not abandon the latent tendency of doubt, and the latent tendency of sensual lust, and the latent tendency of aversion. Excluding one endowed with the Anāgāmi path and the Arahant, the remaining persons everywhere do not abandon the latent tendency of doubt, and the latent tendency of sensual lust, and the latent tendency of aversion. (A) Whoever from which does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust and the latent tendency of aversion, does he from that not abandon the latent tendency of craving for existence? One endowed with the highest path, in the form-sphere, in the formless-sphere, he from that does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust and the latent tendency of aversion, but he from that does abandon the latent tendency of craving for existence. That same person, in the sense-sphere, in three feelings, or not included, he from that does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust, and the latent tendency of aversion, and the latent tendency of craving for existence. Excluding two persons endowed with the path, the remaining persons everywhere do not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust, and the latent tendency of aversion, and the latent tendency of craving for existence. (B) Or again, whoever from which does not abandon the latent tendency of craving for existence, does he from that not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust and the latent tendency of aversion? One endowed with the Anāgāmi path, in painful feeling, he from that does not abandon the latent tendency of craving for existence and the latent tendency of sensual lust, but he from that does abandon the latent tendency of aversion. That same person, in the sense-sphere, in two feelings, he from that does not abandon the latent tendency of craving for existence, he does not abandon the latent tendency of aversion, nor does he abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire from that. That same person, in the form realm, in the formless realm, not included, from that, he does not abandon the latent tendency of desire for existence, and he does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and the latent tendency of aversion. Excluding the two path-attainers, the remaining persons everywhere do not abandon the latent tendency of desire for existence, and do not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and the latent tendency of aversion. (A) If from where one does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and the latent tendency of aversion, does one from there not abandon the latent tendency of ignorance? The attainer of the highest path, in the sense realm, in the three feelings, in the form realm, in the formless realm, from that, he does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and the latent tendency of aversion, nor does he abandon the latent tendency of ignorance from that. That same person, not included, from that, he does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and the latent tendency of aversion, and he does not abandon the latent tendency of ignorance. Excluding the two path-attainers, the remaining persons everywhere do not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and the latent tendency of aversion, and do not abandon the latent tendency of ignorance. (B) Or again, if from where one does not abandon the latent tendency of ignorance, does one from there not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and the latent tendency of aversion? The attainer of the non-returner's path, in painful feeling, from that, he does not abandon the latent tendency of ignorance and the latent tendency of sensual desire, nor does he abandon the latent tendency of aversion from that. That same person, in the sense realm, in the two feelings, from that, he does not abandon the latent tendency of ignorance and the latent tendency of aversion, nor does he abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire from that. That same person, in the form realm, in the formless realm, not included, from that, he does not abandon the latent tendency of ignorance, and he does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and the latent tendency of aversion. Excluding the two path-attainers, the remaining persons everywhere do not abandon the latent tendency of ignorance, and do not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and the latent tendency of aversion. That same person, in the sense-sphere, in the two feelings, he from there does not abandon the latent tendency of doubt, and the latent tendency of aversion, and the latent tendency of conceit, nor does he abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire from there. That same person, in the form-sphere, in the formless-sphere, in the unincluded, he from there does not abandon the latent tendency of doubt, and does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire, and aversion, and conceit. The highest path-attainer, in the sense-sphere, in the two feelings, in the form-sphere, in the formless-sphere, he from there does not abandon the latent tendency of doubt, and the latent tendency of sensual desire, and the latent tendency of aversion, nor does he abandon the latent tendency of conceit from there. That same person, in painful feeling, in the unincluded, he from there does not abandon the latent tendency of doubt, and does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire, and aversion, and conceit. Excluding the two path-attainers and the eighth person, the remaining persons everywhere do not abandon the latent tendency of doubt, and the latent tendency of sensual desire, and aversion, and conceit. And they do not abandon the latent tendencies. (Ka) Whoever from where does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust, and the latent tendency of aversion, and the latent tendency of conceit, does that one from there not abandon the latent tendency of lust for existence? Yes. (Kha) Or whoever from where does not abandon the latent tendency of lust for existence, does that one from there not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust, and the latent tendency of aversion, and the latent tendency of conceit? One endowed with the path of a non-returner, in painful feeling, that one from there does not abandon the latent tendency of lust for existence, and the latent tendency of sensual lust, and the latent tendency of conceit; but that one from there does abandon the latent tendency of aversion.
