That same person, when not included in painful feeling, does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and aversion from that, and does not abandon the latent tendency of conceit from that. Except for those two endowed with the path, the remaining persons, everywhere, do not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and aversion, and do not abandon the latent tendency of conceit. (B) Or again, if one does not abandon the latent tendency of conceit from that, does one not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and aversion from that? One endowed with the non-returner's path, in painful feeling, does not abandon the latent tendency of conceit and sensual desire from that, but one does abandon the latent tendency of aversion from that. That same person, in the sense-sphere, in two feelings, does not abandon the latent tendency of conceit and aversion from that, but one does abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire from that. That same person, when not included in the form-sphere and formless-sphere, does not abandon the latent tendency of conceit from that, and does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and aversion from that.
