(A) When he does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and the latent tendency of aversion, does he then not abandon the latent tendency of ignorance? In the form realm, in the formless realm, there he does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and the latent tendency of aversion, but he does not abandon the latent tendency of ignorance there. In the unincluded, there he does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and... does not abandon the latent tendency of aversion, and does not abandon the latent tendency of ignorance. (B) Or if one does not abandon the latent tendency of ignorance, then does one not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and the latent tendency of aversion? Yes. 183. If one does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire, the latent tendency of aversion, and the latent tendency of conceit, then does one not abandon the latent tendency of views... and the latent tendency of doubt? Yes. Or if one does not abandon the latent tendency of doubt, then does one not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire, the latent tendency of aversion, and the latent tendency of conceit? Yes. (A) If one does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire, the latent tendency of aversion, and the latent tendency of conceit, then does one not abandon the latent tendency of desire for existence? Yes. (B) Or if one does not abandon the latent tendency of desire for existence, then does one not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire, the latent tendency of aversion, and the latent tendency of conceit? In painful feeling, then one does not abandon the latent tendency of desire for existence, the latent tendency of sensual desire, and the latent tendency of conceit, but one does abandon the latent tendency of aversion. In the two feelings of the sense-sphere, then one does not abandon the latent tendency of desire for existence and the latent tendency of aversion, but one does abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire and the latent tendency of conceit. In the unincluded, then one does not abandon the latent tendency of desire for existence, the latent tendency of sensual desire, the latent tendency of aversion, and the latent tendency of conceit. (A) If one does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire, the latent tendency of aversion, and the latent tendency of conceit, then does one not abandon the latent tendency of ignorance? Yes. (B) Or if one does not abandon the latent tendency of ignorance, then does one not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire, the latent tendency of aversion, and the latent tendency of conceit? Yes. 184. (A) If one does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire, the latent tendency of aversion, the latent tendency of conceit, and the latent tendency of views, then does one not abandon the latent tendency of doubt? Yes. (B) Or if one does not abandon the latent tendency of doubt, then does one not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire, the latent tendency of aversion, the latent tendency of conceit, and the latent tendency of views? Yes. ...and so on... 185. (Ka) When one does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire, and the latent tendency of aversion, and the latent tendency of conceit, and the latent tendency of wrong view, and the latent tendency of doubt, does one then not abandon the latent tendency of desire for existence? Yes. (Kha) Or again, when one does not abandon the latent tendency of desire for existence, does one then not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire, and the latent tendency of aversion, and the latent tendency of conceit, and the latent tendency of wrong view, and the latent tendency of doubt? In painful feeling, one does not then abandon the latent tendency of desire for existence, and the latent tendency of sensual desire, and the latent tendency of conceit; but one does not then abandon the latent tendency of aversion, and the latent tendency of wrong view, and the latent tendency of doubt. In the sense-sphere realm, in two feelings, one does not then abandon the latent tendency of desire for existence, and the latent tendency of aversion; but one does not then abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire, and the latent tendency of conceit, and the latent tendency of wrong view, and the latent tendency of doubt. In the un-encompassed state, one does not then abandon the latent tendency of desire for existence, and one does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire, and the latent tendency of aversion, and the latent tendency of conceit, and the latent tendency of wrong view, and the latent tendency of doubt. (Kha) Or again, when one does not abandon the latent tendency of ignorance, does one then not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire, and the latent tendency of aversion, and the latent tendency of conceit, and the latent tendency of wrong view, and the latent tendency of doubt, and the latent tendency of desire for existence? (Ka) Whoever, from which, does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual desire, does that one then, from that, not abandon the latent tendency of aversion? Is it past? An Anāgāmi-path attainer, in painful feeling, does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust from that, and he does abandon the latent tendency of aversion from that. That same person, not included in the form realm or formless realm, does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust from that, and does not abandon the latent tendency of aversion from that. Apart from the Anāgāmi-path attainer, the remaining individuals, everywhere, do not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust, and do not abandon the latent tendency of aversion. (Kha) Or again, does one who does not abandon the latent tendency of aversion from a certain condition, not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust from that condition? An Anāgāmi-path attainer, in the sense realm, in two feelings, does not abandon the latent tendency of aversion from that, and he does abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust from that. That same person, not included in the form realm or formless realm, does not abandon the latent tendency of aversion from that, and does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust from that. Apart from the Anāgāmi-path attainer, the remaining individuals, everywhere, do not abandon the latent tendency of aversion, and do not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust. (Ka) Does one who does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust from a certain condition, not abandon the latent tendency of conceit from that condition? An Arahant-path attainer, in the sense realm, in two feelings, in the form realm, in the formless realm, does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust from that, and he does abandon the latent tendency of conceit from that. That same person, not included in painful feeling, does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust from that, and does not abandon the latent tendency of conceit from that. Apart from the two path attainers, the remaining individuals, everywhere, do not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust, and do not abandon the latent tendency of conceit. (Kha) Or again, does one who does not abandon the latent tendency of conceit from a certain condition, not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust from that condition? An Anāgāmi-path attainer, in the sense realm, in two feelings, does not abandon the latent tendency of conceit from that, and he does abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust from that. That same person, not included in painful feeling, form realm, or formless realm, does not abandon the latent tendency of conceit from that, and the latent tendency of sensual lust does not abandon. Except for those endowed with two paths, the remaining individuals everywhere do not abandon the latent tendency of conceit and do not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust. Whoever, from wherever, does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust, does he, from there, not abandon the latent tendency of wrong view... ...the latent tendency of doubt? The eighth person, in the sense-sphere, in the three feelings, in the form-sphere, in the formless-sphere, he, from there, does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust, but he, from there, does not abandon the latent tendency of doubt. That same individual, in the unincluded, he, from there, does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust and does not abandon the latent tendency of doubt.
