‘Reading the Palms Inside and Out’ was written by Kongpo Dzogchenpa, which will be explained in detail. It is divided into three parts: preliminary of speech, preliminary of mind, and (main practice). In the second part, in the Mūlamadhyamakakārikā, it says: ‘Speech abides in the syllable Hūṃ, through blessing, practice, and approaching the path, one can subdue speech and benefit the mind.’ Therefore, blessing, practice, seeking closeness (to the path). Let one Hūṃ syllable stick closely to another, emitting a blue-green light from the mouth. Like a snake, coil around the target in front, and when the Hūṃ syllable reaches the top, focus on it. When gradually unwinding and returning to the root, focus on it. Eventually, one can focus on any target. This is entering the path. Visualize a Hūṃ syllable about a span long in front, and like not walking on stairs or stone steps, pass through many valleys, focusing on the Hūṃ syllable at each stage. Eventually, it becomes almost invisible, and then returns again. The first part, blessing on the outer appearance. In a state where the lips and teeth barely touch, slowly and calmly recite the Hūṃ syllable, with a buzzing sound coming from the mouth. Gradually fill the container and its contents, understanding all gross things as emptiness without self-nature. The light of the Hūṃ syllable fills everything, and this feeling is continuous. This way, one can reach other places. Meditating by mixing the three parts of the Hūṃ syllable (shape, sound, meaning) together can quickly focus the mind, which is also a secret instruction. Blessing on the inner body. Except for the distinction between inside and outside, it is the same as before. The second part, practicing on the outer appearance. Use a huge Hūṃ syllable to penetrate huge things like Mount Sumeru as if piercing through a window, starting from a hole, like a mustard seed, like a dust particle, and eventually, all outer appearances become without foundation. Same as before, practicing on the inner body. The third part, the preliminary of mind, divided into: Investigating to the root. When the body suffers from a serious illness, falls asleep, or is not obvious, it is a sign that problems have arisen in the mind. After death, the body is cremated into ashes, but in the mind, one will experience the joys and sorrows of the six realms, just like a thief recognizing other thieves, therefore, the mind is more important than body and speech. Seeking flaws. Are body, speech, and mind one or separate? If they are one, then the mind should be visible and audible like body and speech, but the mind is not visible and audible like body and speech, so they do not seem to be one. If they are separate, then the body is an indivisible dust particle, speech is a traceless disappearance, and the mind leaves no trace like a bird flying across the sky. When the root of each cannot be found, the agent and the action are lost. Because there is no agent and no action, at this time one will understand that many phenomena depend on one basis, thereby cutting off the root of the grasped and the grasper. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

D. Demolishing the Castle of Dualistic Grasping, and the Investigation of Reality (and) the Third (part). The third part includes the source. In the Transcendent Insight it says: 'The mind arises initially, dwells in the middle, and ceases finally. Thus, investigating the three times, the mind is tamed, and the reality of the mind is known.' Thus it is said. Three places of going: This mind, in all internal and external phenomena, especially from the crown of one's head to the soles of one's feet, in each tiny part, cannot be found where it arises. Likewise, its dwelling place and its going place cannot be found. Therefore, it is free from arising, dwelling, and ceasing. Fourth, placing it in the (light) channel. In 'Vast Expanse of Clarity' it says: 'To realize the two meanings of original purity, place it in the channel and abide secretly.' Therefore, the body does not move, and demons cannot enter. Based on this, the channels do not move. If the channels do not move, the winds do not move. If the winds do not move, the bindus do not move. If the bindus do not move, the mind naturally abides, and meditation naturally arises, which is necessary. Body unfabricated, free from movement; speech unfabricated, free from speech; mind unfabricated, free from acceptance and rejection, these are the three. Second, determining the meaning of reality, which is nakedly recognizing the Dharmakaya of Clear Light. The basis is the instructions of original purity, exhaustion of phenomena, cutting through like a new moon. The path is the instructions of spontaneous accomplishment, cutting through (karma winds) in the Clear Light of Thögal (Leap-Over). Divided into two. First, recognizing (the nature of mind). During the uncommon preliminary practices, even if stainless meditation arises, if (the nature of mind) is not recognized, then it is necessary to recognize the meditation of self-awareness abiding in itself. Offerings to the Yidam, the Five Dakinis, the Four Guardians, tormas, offerings, exorcism tormas, tsok (gathering) wheels, etc. Perform the activities of the Dakinis, offer tormas to the Guardians. After the offering of hundreds of thousands (of mantras) until the end of the tsok wheel, recite three times from the example of recognition. That is, the eyes look down at the tip of the nose. Observing the essence of awareness, its essence is the Dharmakaya, unborn emptiness; its nature is the Sambhogakaya, without abiding, clear and lucid; its compassion is the Nirmanakaya, appearing unceasingly, in various forms. In this state, like a continuous downpour, (and) without being defiled by memory and grasping, maintaining a bright and clear state, is meditation free from poison. If the thought 'abide here' arises, it is poisonous. The clear and lucid state free from conceptual thought is Samadhi (meditative absorption). Finally, when rising from meditation, not moving from the wisdom of freedom from elaboration, is post-meditation. After that, various conceptual thoughts arise, which are called post-cognition. Mahamudra practitioners observe conceptual thoughts and prevent them, which is not in accordance with this (view). The self-view is that conceptual thoughts are without acceptance or rejection, like a bird flying through the sky without leaving the sky. Practicing power, increasing power, these are the three. Second, abiding in the meditation of self-nature. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
