Regarding the path of taking and abandoning based on cause and effect: Firstly, infer the cause from the effect, and on the basis of a leisured and endowed human body, take and abandon the results of white and black karma—happiness and suffering. Secondly, rejoice in virtuous deeds and turn away from non-virtuous deeds. Second, regarding the path of impermanence: Be certain that all that has occurred in the past has passed away, and have no doubt that death is inevitable. Death comes quickly, like a reservoir that collapses when its bottom is breached. Even if one does not die today, one should be mindful of one's actions of body, speech, and mind, as death can occur in an instant, like a solar eclipse. The body is like a rainbow in the sky, fame is like a waterfall, wealth is like honey, and retinues are like guests at a market. Fortresses crumble, and the seasons change. By contemplating the nature of sentient beings, a strong sense of impermanence arises, which leads to becoming a true practitioner. Recognize that the time of death is uncertain. In the post-meditation period, maintain the awareness of impermanence in all that appears. Third, regarding loving-kindness and compassion: Although loving-kindness is mentioned first in the 'Golden Garland,' in the other works of the Omniscient One, compassion is usually mentioned first. Recognize that all sentient beings, as limitless as the sky, have been one's parents. Taking one's own mother in this life as an example, contemplate her kindness, and thereby generate loving-kindness. For example, a mother makes clothes for one in cold weather and fans one in hot weather. If one can repay their kindness in this way, what methods are there to help those who are suffering from the heat and cold of hell? Consider sentient beings as one's own mothers, abandon evil deeds, and do not let them suffer the pain of the three poisons. Constantly think: 'May they be free from suffering and attain happiness.' When practicing the bodhisattva path, repeatedly practice the exchange of self and others. The methods for cultivating bodhicitta include: cultivating compassion, cultivating loving-kindness, and cultivating bodhicitta. In the post-meditation period, through the power of habituation, the practice of exchanging self and others arises naturally. The necessity of the five common preliminaries is twofold: temporarily, guru yoga opens the door to blessings, the Hundred Syllable Mantra purifies obscurations, mandala offerings accumulate merit, contemplating cause and effect recognizes the difference between good and evil, contemplating impermanence generates renunciation and weariness, and loving-kindness and bodhicitta lead one into the Mahayana path; ultimately, one can attain perfect Buddhahood. Second, regarding establishing the view of emptiness, this is the uncommon preliminary. It includes four aspects: distinguishing samsara from nirvana, purifying obscurations, the actual preliminary practice, and merging with the nature of reality. The first is offering torma to the earth deities, followed by the preliminary practices for the body. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Engage in the practices of the six realms. As it is said in the scriptures, make offerings to the Three Jewels. If it is a fierce place like a cemetery that is not your own dwelling, then it is necessary. Meditate on the lama on top of a five-pronged vajra. Generate bodhicitta and meditate on Kuntu Zangpo (Samantabhadra) and his consort to clear obstacles and receive blessings. The practice of the six realms: In the past, having engaged in various practices of the six realms, if one recognizes the faults of friends or is attached to the food that stirs up inner turmoil, then as a remedy, in the common vehicle, cultivate loving-kindness and the impure. In the outer tantras, although there are different appearances, transform them through the practice of impure appearances, just as washing dirt with dirt and destroying poison with poison. Likewise, visualize the bodily expressions of hell beings in places like Yensos (Revival Hell), the expressions of speech like 'Ana Atsa', and the thoughts of fear and suffering. In short, one must purify the various joys and sorrows of each of the six realms, which is the purification of the sins of body, speech, and mind, pacifying obstacles, reversing attachment, and ultimately attaining the three vajras of body, speech, and mind. The ways of practicing the Three Jewels are four: Learn the activities of the body, speech, and mind of the peaceful and wrathful Buddhas. Secondly, the basis to be purified is the body stained by afflictions, like an impure vessel. In the brain, there is the white seed syllable of the gods, A (藏文:ཨ,梵文天城体:अ,梵文罗马拟音:a,汉语字面意思:无); in the throat, there is the black Su (藏文:སུ,梵文天城体:सु,梵文罗马拟音:su,汉语字面意思:善) of the Asuras; in the heart, there is the bluish-black Nri (藏文:ནྲྀ,梵文天城体:नृ,梵文罗马拟音:nri,汉语字面意思:人) of humans; in the navel, there is the yellowish-green Tri (藏文:ཏྲི,梵文天城体:त्रि,梵文罗马拟音:tri,汉语字面意思:三) of animals; in the secret place, there is the reddish-black Pre (藏文:པྲེ,梵文天城体:प्रे,梵文罗马拟音:pre,汉语字面意思:爱) of the pretas; and on the left sole, there is the black Du (藏文:དུ,梵文天城体:दु,梵文罗马拟音:du,汉语字面意思:恶) of hell beings. All of them are unclear, darkened by karma and afflictions. Thus, it is said in the Prasangika: 'The body is born from the cause of ignorance, therefore, it abides as the seed of the six realms.' The means of purification are two: In the three places, visualize the essence of the three kayas, from the three syllables (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思) emanate white, red, and blue flames, like fire burning the seeds of the six realms, visualize them disappearing without a trace. As it is said in the Prasangika: 'Since awareness is the reality of the three kayas, the wisdom syllables, the three syllables, arise.' What is the purpose? The common purpose of the three is to purify the seeds of sin, pacify the lower realms, reverse attachment, and ultimately not revert to samsara, attaining the body, speech, and mind of a Buddha. Thirdly, the preliminary practices, the preliminary practice of the body. As it is said in the Prasangika: 'By assuming the vajra full lotus posture, purifying the body benefits the mind.' Thus, with the soles of the feet joined together, placed on the thighs, and the palms of the hands joined together on the crown of the head, the shape of a three-pronged vajra, visualize it as a blue three-pronged vajra blazing with fire. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
