And, even if not, I earnestly requested that he stay for at least a year. If he didn't agree to that, the Dharma would be interrupted. I said that at least this much should be offered to repay his kindness. But he said that it was important to go to India quickly, that there was no need for gain and wealth, and that my Dharma brothers would explain the remaining teachings and instructions. Because conceptual thought is too strong, some instructions cannot be given even if they are explained, he said, and did not allow me to stay. This venerable one seemed to value Indian customs and was open to giving empowerments and instructions. However, he said that all these supreme empowerments and instructions are rarely taught in one place to those with four disciples. This holy being, as mentioned above, not only had inconceivable qualities of wisdom, but also the signs of a yogi, even visible to the eyes of us ordinary people, such as staying with the breath blocked for half a day, and even in very cold weather, staying naked without any fear. Moreover, within a fathom's distance around him, it felt warm, and he was able to protect others from the cold. He could block the flow of breath from his mouth and nose and allow it to come out of his eyes and ears as he pleased. His feet would not sink in water, and he could insert two fingers of his hands into the ground and support himself for a long time even when losing all his bodily strength. He also possessed hidden perception, such as knowing the minds of others. Because his body was light, even if he fell from two or three stories, he would fall gently like shedding skin. He could walk on steep mountains as if on flat ground. Poisons and mercury and the like could not harm his body. With a compassionate attitude, even fierce dogs and wild animals would lick his body, which was convincing. Crows and sparrows and the like would come to his lap and fingertips, and even if he touched them with his hands, they would not fly away but would happily stay there. At the time of empowerment, he was able to actually bestow wisdom, and he showed various kinds of miracles to fortunate beings, such as light radiating from the mandala. Even though he did not eat human food, he lived on food offered by non-humans. When he focused his mind on the yoga of the deities, this present appearance actually ceased.

He possesses the wisdom of seeing all phenomena, internal and external, as baseless and self-liberated at all times. If even the realm of experience of us ordinary beings is like that, who can enumerate and exhaust the qualities of body, speech, and mind? When asked about how he sees the yidam deities, he replied, "I have not actually seen them directly. However, in stable dream signs, the forms of Vajravarahi and Tara repeatedly appear. I have also seen glorious Heruka and the Bhagavan Shakyamuni Buddha a few times." This is in terms of directly seeing the deities, and he spoke for the sake of us with limited intelligence. As for the appearances of experiences in meditation, they are as mentioned above, of various kinds. Furthermore, it seems that the venerable one is constantly and continuously observing everything. Once, while I was also by his side, he looked up at the sky and made many gestures of body and speech. When I earnestly asked and requested him about what was happening, he replied, "Luipa and Padmasambhava, along with many attendants, are descending in the sky." After going to places like the five peaks of Sindhu Hingala, he also repeatedly met many accomplished ones of the past. Furthermore, the venerable one taught, "I recite mantras, practice the winds, and have no fear of water, cliffs, robbers, or lack of food and clothing. Therefore, I am happy and joyful to travel on pilgrimage." Thus, although I received whatever scriptures and instructions I knew from this holy being, at that time my resources were meager and my conceptual thoughts were rampant. Therefore, although I received many profound essential instructions on the stages of completion, there were also many that I did not receive. As the lama himself said, the explanations of the scriptures were thoroughly heard from the feet of this holy being's Dharma friends, the teacher Nirvanashri, and the feet of Purna Vajra. However, when I asked for the instructions that I had not received before, he mostly said, "They are no longer extant," and did not give them. This holy being then went to various other regions of Tibet and is said to have stayed in the Kyirong area for about three months. He really stayed for a long time. It is also said that at that time, the merchant from Karnathang who went to Neydolkar must have met him. I think it was an emanation. After that, he went to the center of Nepal. Some Newars served him and made great offerings. It was there that...

He bestowed upon all places. He visited all the places of Nepal. He stayed for about two or three months. Then he went to Campāraṇa, also called Bhangshya. Meeting with his former disciples, the master and disciples together traveled through the route of Prayaga and others, and went to the presence of the great accomplished one, Śānti Ghupa. He resided mainly as a Vajra Master. He made a great wheel feast for the male and female yogis residing in the mountain of Khagendra. At this time, it seems that the great teacher Śānti's feet had not met with most people except for the excellent old disciples for about one or two years. It seems that there was also a very hidden and unbearable cave as a residence. It is said that this lord stayed in that place of Khagendra for about a month, and went to the presence of the great accomplished one Śānti's feet every day. Then, again, he stayed in Bangala for about a year through the route of the central region. About twenty male and female yogis who practiced conduct became attendants, and he went to the place of Tripura again. He stayed for many years. After that, it is heard that he is now residing near Devikota. There are many wonderful stories of various places at these times, but here, I have not written them because it seems that they would hinder the understanding of the biography. Furthermore, it is said: By the kindness of this supreme lord, I have also become fortunate. Always thinking of benefiting beings, I prostrate to you, the loving one. You, in the past, in the land of Maru, I became a parrot and taught the Dharma to many bird beings, at that time I bow to you who became the chief. On the slope of Mount Potala, having become a virtuous lay practitioner holding the mantras, I prostrate to you who served Avalokiteśvara as a master. At another time, in Oddiyana, having been taken care of by the feet of Lāva, having placed the guru at the peak of respect, I bow to you who became inseparable from the chief and retinue. The non-humans who walk underground, having become Vidyādharas with great power and strength, I bow to you who accomplished great deeds for beings such as nāgas and lords of asuras. Now, of all the accomplished ones, having directly received the prophecies, I prostrate to you, the lord of accomplishment, who accomplishes the benefit of many fortunate ones. Hereafter, in the grove of willows, one named Vajraśukla (Tibetan: བཛྲ་ཤུ་ཀླ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: वज्रशुकला, Sanskrit Romanization: vajraśukla, Chinese literal meaning: Diamond Parrot), will become the messenger of the Lord of Secrets (Vajrapāṇi),

I prostrate to that pure one! Below that, like the light of Indra-nila. In the supreme Buddha-field called "Thus," I prostrate to that wheel-turning king called "Vajra Division." Again, in that field, dwells the Joyful Land, Called "Beautifying Golden Power," In the manner of being bound by one lifetime, I prostrate with the crown of my head to the great being. Then, the Thus-Gone One, Called "Jewel Radiating Light," Proclaims the lion's roar of the Great Vehicle's sacred Dharma, I prostrate to you, Victorious One! You, in the past, before Shakyamuni Buddha, Became a farmer and generated faith, From that time onwards, always I praise you, who are worthy of offerings! These are the great enlightenment of Vajra Seat, And the prophecies of glorious Heruka, And the birth stories spoken with great secrecy in the manner of remembering past lives. This is the biography of the holy lama, the Southerner Sangye Bepa (Sangs rgyas sbas), Gyalwa Khampa Taranatha, having touched the lotus feet of the great Indian master, received the blessing of the increase of wisdom in the Vajra Vehicle, and for the benefit of himself and others, abandoning exaggeration and diminution, spoke truthfully and openly. This was clearly distinguished from the forgotten notes of the initial period, at the age of twenty-seven. May this cause the Buddha's teachings to flourish, increase, and remain for a long time! Checked! Mangalam! The Biography of the King Who Delights Princes. Om Svasti! The joyous festival of the auspicious spring, with its various transformations, Here, victorious from the battlefield of the mind, In the manner of increasing the joy of the glorious direction, This rare offering of liberation is wonderful. The sweet fragrance protects, wavering, The wondrous paintings of all directions, Fully enjoying the grand feast, Like the beautiful face of the captor. The combination of wondrous stories, Here, the daughter of the Gandharvas, Following the sound of the harp, Is the nectar for the ears of sentient beings. Those who are very familiar with the correct path and are controlled by aspiration, What need is there to say that they will engage in virtue even without being urged by others? Therefore, one should become completely familiar with virtue. That is to say, one should say this: When, sometime, the virtuous deeds of the past,
