The caretaker of the Yamabu (Kathmandu) Mahakala Temple said, "He came here, stayed for a few days like a madman, and then went to Kamaru." He immediately went to Kamaru. On the forest paths, he encountered robbers, tigers, buffaloes, rhinoceroses, and all kinds of dangers, but he was single-mindedly thinking of his guru, so he was not harmed. He met the guru in the city of Garuda Ghatana in Kamaru. He was very happy, threw himself on the ground, and prostrated countless times. The guru said, "If you want the instructions, my guru Asita Ghana has gone to the realm of the Dakinis, which is on the top of the cliff of Heramba. Build a brick stupa there that is five people tall." After that, he went to that place and exchanged a piece of clothing for the price of bricks. Digging the foundation, burning bricks, and everything else was done by Shiwaba (Silent Hidden) alone. Later, a devout benefactor helped him a little, and the stupa was built on the top of Heramba. When he came to the guru, the guru said that relying on the help of the benefactor was not acceptable, and after another year, the guru still did not impart the instructions. Later, when the guru was living in the city of Kataka Banaras in Odisha, the guru pointed to a house and said, "Go steal a lot of gold from this house and offer it to me." That house was a wealthy blacksmith, very stingy, and hated all ordained monks. Initially, when Shiwaba entered that house, he was beaten many times by the gatekeeper. At that time, the guru's physical strength was great, and he held down the gatekeeper with one hand, so Shiwaba was able to enter. The blacksmith was working and was very angry, and threw a red-hot piece of iron at Shiwaba's body, but his clothes did not burn, and his body was not harmed. After that, many poisonous-fanged dogs were released to bite the guru.

He went again and again, and they became familiar with each other. The teacher learned about his home and all his possessions. He had accumulated thousands of gold coins through sinful means, but he was unwilling to give them to anyone. Once, when they were all negligent, the teacher stole the money and offered it to the guru. The guru said, "Child, you have done well! The wealth of a miser should be given to others." He said, "Offer these to the monks of Rakang." He went to make the offering as instructed by the guru. Later, Shantideva (Śāntarakṣita) went to the city once and was caught by the former blacksmith, who handed him over to the king of that place, Mukundadeva, and told him about the previous events. Coincidentally, many people had gathered there at that time. The king asked the teacher himself, and the teacher said, "The possessions of a miser, if stolen or robbed and given to others, will increase merit." At that time, everyone laughed and said, "This is a great thief! Look at his shamelessness! He even considers stealing like this as a virtue." The king said, "Put him in prison for now, and we will investigate later and punish him with penalties." The king and the people each departed. During this time, the teacher Yeshe Shenyen (Jñānamitra) observed that various kinds of birds had gathered above the prison. All around, various kinds of dogs and jackals were circling and making noises day and night. He was puzzled by this. The next day, the same thing happened in the palace, and after divination, it was learned that this was the power of a yogi imprisoned in the prison. After a few days, Yeshe Shenyen (Jñānamitra) came to the prison gate and threw sand at the guards, and everyone froze. After about two years, the Lama said, 'Now we must give empowerment. In that house across the river, there is a mantra-holder woman with good lineage like this one. Bring her here.' I asked, 'Shall I go now?' He said, 'Bring her tonight.' There was a great river there, and I swam across it. As the sun was setting, I arrived at the house. That house was a royal elephant stable of the king's lineage. It is said that the name of the city was also called Lanjakara. I said to the family, 'I am a traveler, may I stay for a while?' They said, 'Please come in.' Then, the disciple carefully examined everything from top to bottom, and found that the one prophesied by the Lama was the daughter of the householder. Because she was very well guarded, I wondered how I could obtain her. Then, at dusk when there were few travelers, the disciple bound her speech with a knowledge mantra, so that the woman could not speak for a while. Then, with great strength, he carried her on his shoulder, opened all the doors with force, and fled. When he reached outside the city, the people inside chased after him, but could not catch him. That very night, I swam across the river and returned. At midnight, I arrived at the Lama's place. The Lama said, 'The time is just right, it is good.' There, at dawn, the empowerment was given. He blessed me for seven days and bestowed all the unique oral instructions. That place was on a single rock cliff, and it is said that it used to be Nagarjuna's cave. The people who were tracking from the elephant stable thought that the two of them had been washed away by the water, and they did not come to that area afterwards. Then, when the Lama was performing a fire puja, the disciple, while performing the action vajra, made a slight mistake. Having manifested the wisdom of boundless, equal, and pervasive nature, he reached the depths of all dharmas. There, he became a great master of yoga. That woman also did not practice yoga, but went to the communities of practitioners, and was known as the yogini Menaka. Her realization was equal to the sky, she accomplished the four views, did not sink in water, and later also attained accomplishment. There, the Lama Yeshe Shenyen said: Peaceful Hidden One, I have already taught you all the instructions, and the great purpose has also been accomplished. Now go to Saurashtra, and first practice without elaboration. Then practice secretly. Then someone will come to urge you to practice with elaboration, at that time, practice with elaboration. In this very life, you will attain the state of the great Vajradhara. There, Peaceful Hidden One said: That I have reached the depths of all dharmas in this way is due to the kindness of the Lama, so even if I do not attain the supreme accomplishment in this life, it is fine. I will follow the Lama himself. The Lama said: I have stayed in the human realm for so many years for you alone. Therefore, transmit my realization to all those who are fortunate. Having said this, he disappeared. There, the non-dual wisdom of the Lama manifested in his own mind, and all doubts were cut off. However, because the Lama's form body had disappeared, his heart was filled with great sorrow, and he sang a song. It is said that he attended upon the master Yeshe Shenyen for about ten years. After that, in the manner of singing a song of sorrow, while explaining the profound meaning, he gradually went to Saurashtra in western India. Near a city called Jonaghata, he abandoned all speech. Even when repeatedly sleeping and waking up, he remained only in meditative equipoise. Once on the road, a tiger, leopard, or Mongol burned his hands and feet, but he remained as if a stone or wooden statue were being burned by fire, without any feeling. Also, a Hindu cavalryman had faith in the master, and scattered a pot of gold and silver flowers on his body, but he remained without any feeling as before. My Lama said, it is not that he had no feeling at all, but that he was seeing emptiness.
