Ajatashatru said: "Now it is summer and hot, it is inconvenient to go to see him." He said: "The teacher is like sandalwood and *te'u*, he will surely be accepted." Then, Ajatashatru sent a messenger, who gradually went to the presence of the Blessed One, and bowed to the Blessed One in the name of King Ajatashatru, and also inquired about his health. He reported Ajatashatru's request, saying: "In this world, there is a bad son, but there is no bad father. Therefore, please compassionately go to Rajagriha." The Blessed One, considering the time for taming, gradually went to Magadha from Shravasti. There, the gods blew wind and dried up the poisoned water, and rain fell, and good water also appeared. The powerful gods who had faith in the Buddha gathered, and the plague also subsided. The small border countries also heard that the teacher was coming, and the armies returned to their own garrisons. Ajatashatru went to welcome the Blessed One, and just seeing him, great faith arose. At the city gate, he stood with his feet, and showed miracles such as the earth shaking. At that time, for three months, King Ajatashatru offered all kinds of provisions, and stayed in the mango grove of Jivaka in Rajagriha for the summer retreat. The first chapter is about Ajatashatru being placed in faith. Not long after that, on the night of the fifteenth day of the middle month of summer, when the date, constellations, and everything were auspicious, at night in the moonlight, Ajatashatru, surrounded by ministers, went to the high tower and asked the people: "What should I do at such a good time?" A washerwoman said: "At such a time, enjoying the five sensual pleasures is like the actions of the gods." Another said: "You should patrol the streets of the city." A young warrior said: "You should put on armor and conquer the enemy." A minister said: "You should serve Purana Kassapa." Similarly, each minister said that he should serve one of the six heretical teachers. O king, who is ignorant of the world.

The wicked, such as the ླཽན་པོ་, mostly do not believe in the right path, but only believe in the wrong path, which is the law of things themselves. No one is willing to do good. At that time, the physician Jivaka Komarabhacca was sitting there, but he did not say a word. The king asked: Why don't you speak? He replied: I don't think these are the actions of the gods. The Blessed One lives in my mango grove. If the gods offer to him, then tonight's actions are the actions of the gods. The king was very happy to hear this, and immediately ordered: Prepare the elephants! Release the elephants! So five hundred female elephants were prepared. Jivaka was responsible for driving the elephants, and the king sat behind him. Five hundred people from the palace holding torches also stood behind each female elephant, following behind. When they came out of Rajagriha, the king became suspicious on the way, thinking: Will this Jivaka release the elephants to harm me? How many attendants does the Blessed One have? One thousand two hundred and fifty people. Jivaka, why don't you want to harm me? With so many attendants, there is not even the sound of blowing your nose. He replied: The Blessed One likes silence, so the attendants are also quiet. Don't make noise! Now release the elephants! This is the residence of the attendants and the light of the lamp oil. Then the elephants were released, and King Ajatashatru entered the Bamboo Grove Monastery on foot. Jivaka pointed to the Blessed One to the king, who was sitting in the Sangha, as clear and unpolluted as the sea. The king also prostrated to the Blessed One and said: May my son, Jayasena, also become peaceful and gentle, just as the Blessed One and the Bhikkhu Sangha are so quiet and gentle. The Blessed One replied: Well said! The king sat on the seat and asked many questions. The Blessed One also spoke extensively about the Dharma, causing the king to generate supreme faith. Recalling his previous sins, he shed tears and wept bitterly, saying: I was deceived by evil friends and killed my father, who possessed the Dharma. I am so foolish! Please forgive my sins.

requested. The Buddha taught, 'That is indeed true, but if you recognize and see your faults, you should confess them. If you can strictly observe the precepts in the future, you should believe that virtue will not decline but will increase.' In this way, the Buddha established Ajatashatru on rootless faith. Ajatashatru requested the Buddha to come for lunch the next day and then left. At that time, the Buddha taught the monks, 'If Ajatashatru had not committed the five heinous crimes, he would have seen the truth while sitting on this cushion.' Therefore, because of faults, you should not have evil thoughts even towards a burning tree stump, let alone sentient beings? and so on. The next day, Ajatashatru satisfied the Buddha and the Sangha with lunch, and also listened to the Dharma. The Buddha rejoiced in the generosity and then left. When King Ajatashatru was established on rootless faith, from then on, whether he was on the roof or on the back of an elephant, etc., wherever he was, as soon as he saw the Buddha, he would jump down without hesitation. The Buddha also took him from the sky with miraculous powers and placed him on the ground. At that time, Ajatashatru admonished his family, who lived on milk porridge, saying, 'Wise people, from now on, I take refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. I will always open the door to the Buddha and the fourfold retinue. As for Devadatta and his disciples, close the door.' He said this and did so. The second part is about the prophecy of Devadatta: During this time, there is a biography of Devadatta killing the nun Utpalavarna. At that time, Devadatta could not enter the palace and thought: I caused division in the Sangha, caused the Buddha to bleed with evil intentions, and killed an Arhat. Although I committed three heinous crimes, I did not succeed in anything necessary, and now I am going to fall into hell, and I was full of regret. At that time, Puranakashyapa, the last of the heretics, came and asked him, 'Why are you sitting like this?' Devadatta said as before, and that person said, 'If you think that you are the only smart one in the Shakya clan, then you are too stupid. Where is there any afterlife? It's like breaking a ball of clay and never being able to recover it.' There is neither an author nor a maker, don't be afraid of anything, go and rob!

"Be the king of the Krivi country, and I will be the chief of ministers," he said. There, Devadatta developed wrong views and severed his roots of virtue, so the Buddha prophesied, "Devadatta's lineage is incurable." He also thought there was no afterlife, so he widely taught the five ascetic practices to his students. When the Thus-Gone One manifested the appearance of being ill, the young physician Jivaka prepared to offer an iron-arrow ointment, the Buddha then asked, "Jivaka, is it wonderful? Or is the offering great? Is it rare? Or is it great? Do you know?" "I know, Lord." "Do you not know?" "I do not know, Lord." Thus the Teacher contemplated and spoke, and Jivaka understood his meaning, saying, "From the best cow, when used properly, nectar arises. This and the ointment that arises from squeezing are wonderful! The arising of the Buddha, the teaching of the Dharma, and the practice of the Sangha are rare! If there is birth, then one knows there will be death, but those who have died are not certain to be reborn." Then, Jivaka thought, "The Blessed One possesses a vajra body, and because his body is large, this much is needed." So he offered thirty-two measures of ointment, and the remainder was distributed to the Sangha, and Devadatta also said that he needed as much as the Teacher. The Buddha said, "The Buddha possesses a vajra body, but you cannot use that much." Devadatta said, "If I also have a vajra body, why can't I use it?" So he drank thirty-two measures of ointment. The next day, when the Teacher was enjoying breakfast, he competed again. Devadatta drank porridge while the ointment was undigested, which led to indigestion, bloating, and pain, and the severe illness kept him awake day and night, tossing and turning. Ananda reported this to the Teacher, who was staying in a cave on Vulture Peak Mountain, and he stretched out his hand and placed it on Devadatta's head and spoke the truth, and his illness was immediately cured. He recognized the Buddha's hand and said, "Gautama is well-versed in medicine, but can this person live?" There, those who were very attached to Devadatta also felt that the Buddha was full of love and were amazed. The monks said, "You were healed by the Teacher." Devadatta said, "Gautama knows the illusion of control, so he controls the world. I was only healed after the ointment was digested, what does he have to say to me?" Later, the Shakyas
