He was subdued by the arrival. Previously, during times of poverty, no one claimed kinship or offered possessions. At that time, seeing his prominence, many came forward claiming to be relatives, saying, "Oh, this is our uncle's son! This is our uncle! This is our nephew!" and so on, offering butter, cheese, and food. Then, relying on the well-being that came, the entire country offered food to the Buddha and the Sangha for seven days. After that, Prince Togle Den also made offerings. Furthermore, there are many stories related to this place. The eighty-seventh story is King Salgyal offering to Od Srung: When the Bhagavan was residing in Jeta Grove in Shravasti, the householder Anathapindika invited the Buddha and the Sangha for a meal. At that time, Mahakashyapa came from a remote forest, with long hair and beard, wearing worn-out robes. The gatekeeper did not recognize him and did not let him in. Mahakashyapa then turned back and on the way to the pleasure garden, a beggar woman from outside the village, afflicted with leprosy, offered him the rice water she had begged for. At that time, a beggar boy went to fetch firewood and his finger was cut off and fell there. He thought, "If it weren't to save my face, he wouldn't have put it in the bowl and wouldn't eat it." The Noble One knew this and ate in that direction. That village woman was also very happy and with faith ended her life and was reborn among the gods of Tushita. Listening to the Dharma at the feet of the Buddha, she saw the truth. King Salgyal heard this story and also made many offerings to the great Od Srung. For the sake of Od Srung, he requested the Buddha and the Sangha to be offered food for seven days, and the Buddha also granted it. The next morning, early, the Buddha and the Sangha came to the king's palace and sat on the prepared seats. At that time, the king himself prepared and distributed delicious food, which a Mutova saw. Seeing the king doing such virtuous deeds, the Mutova was very happy and rejoiced.

A special person was born. Then the king came to listen to the Dharma, and made him happy with the story of the Dharma. When he was talking about dedication and giving, he asked, 'Should I dedicate from your name, O king? Or should I dedicate from the name of the person who has created great merit today?' The king thought, 'Who is the person who has created great merit here today?' He requested to dedicate from that person's name, so he dedicated from the name of the rejoicing bean grinder. He did this for six days, and the king understood in his heart. The ministers said, 'Tomorrow, no matter what, we must dedicate from the name of the gods, we must do it that way.' The ministers instructed the workers, 'Today, prepare a lot of food to distribute, half of it should go into the monks' bowls, and half of it should be scattered on the ground, do it like that.' According to the instructions, the bean grinders set out to pick up the food scattered on the ground, and the food distributors drove them away. There, the former bean grinder was upset and did not rejoice with faith as before. Then the king also thought, 'As soon as I offer the offerings, he doesn't talk about the merits from my name.' So he went to listen to the narration of merits. The Teacher spoke in the name of the king, 'Elephants and chariots, horses and infantry, riding on them, make the cities and villages submit. Without seasoning with hot porridge and salt, look, this is the power of oil and giving.' When asked about the reason, he replied, 'In the past, when this Bright King became a child, he offered something without hot porridge and salt to the Pratyekabuddha, so in the past he became the king of the Thirty-three (त्रयस्त्रिंश, trayastriṃśa, thirty-three) six times, and the king of Gnyan yod (a place name) six times, and because of the residue of karma, he is still a king now.' The eighty-eighth story is about the prophecy of the poor woman becoming a Buddha. King Bright heard about this through the grapevine, and again went to the feet of the Blessed One, and requested, 'Blessed One, I will offer clothes, robes, food, medicine and other necessities for three months to the Sangha, including the Bhikshu Sangha.' The Blessed One also agreed, and the king was very happy, preparing the means of offering.

When preparing the offerings, a great clamor arose. A poor village girl who was begging heard it and asked what was happening. Others told her in detail. That poor woman also begged a little from the people and obtained a small amount of butter. She poured it into an earthenware pot, lit a butter lamp, and offered it to the Blessed One with utmost devotion, placing it in the promenade. She touched the feet of the Blessed One with her head and made a prayer: "By this root of virtue, just as the teacher Shakyamuni is, may I also become a Buddha named Shakyamuni in a hundred years. Just like his foremost disciple in wisdom, Shariputra, his foremost disciple in miraculous power, Maudgalyayana, his attendant Ananda, his mother Maya, his son Rahula, the city of Kapilavastu, and the increase of relics, may I also become like that." Then, at night, when all the other lamps had gone out, the lamp she had offered appeared to be blazing brightly. The Teacher was sleeping in the light of the lamp, and the venerable Ananda thought to extinguish the lamp, but even when he struck it with his hand, the edge of his robe, a fan, and so forth, he could not extinguish it. The Buddha said, "Ananda, this lamp cannot be extinguished even by a scattering wind, what need is there to mention others? It was lit by a great mind of aspiration. This girl will become a Buddha named Shakyamuni, just as she has prayed." So he spoke, and that lamp continued to burn brightly for seven days, overwhelming all the other offerings. Her fame spread in all directions, and the king also offered a thousand jars of butter and four jeweled lamps for the promenade. Furthermore, for three months, he offered other umbrellas that were most excellent. Each monk was also given robes worth a hundred thousand. Countless butter lamps were also erected. Those faithful Brahmins and householders, thinking of her future merits, also gave many possessions to that poor girl. Ninety-ninth, Eliminating the Pride of King Light: Then...

King Clear Light prayed: "If I do this much virtuous root, please prophesy me to the unsurpassed Bodhi." The Buddha taught: "Great King, unsurpassed Bodhi is profound, difficult to see, and difficult to realize. Your giving once will not attain it, nor will a hundred times, nor a thousand times, nor hundreds of thousands of times. However, if you desire Bodhi, give alms, do merit, and attend to and respect virtuous friends, then when will you become a Buddha?" Then the king wept and wiped away his tears with his clothes, and asked: "World Honored One, how much alms and merit have you done in the past?" The Buddha taught: "For countless three asankhyeya kalpas, I have given alms, done merit, and made offerings to the Buddhas. Let those be put aside for now. Listen to the alms and merit I have done in this kalpa. Combining them, I will tell many Jataka tales of Bodhisattvas." King Clear Light developed great faith and wonder, rejoiced greatly, and rejoiced in praise, then departed from the Teacher. The ninetieth story is about Ajatashatru being rescued from fear: At that time, King Ajatashatru and about seventeen border kingdoms reached an agreement and then rebelled. They said: "This Ajatashatru killed the king who possessed Dharma, and he will also torment us. We must either kill him or drive him from the throne." So they came with four divisions of troops. The city of Rajagriha was surrounded by troops. The dragon Somama, enraged, also dropped hail, destroying all the crops. Five hundred ascetic waters, as well as springs and lakes, also dried up. Other water sources were also poisoned by the kings of the border kingdoms, causing the people of Rajagriha to be unable to drink. An unbearable great plague broke out, and people carried corpses on stretchers. Ajatashatru himself was also afflicted with serious illnesses. There, he was very distressed and depressed. Jivaka recounted the past events in detail, and then said: "This is all due to the power of not respecting the Buddha. Now, repent to the World Honored One, Aja."
