Five hundred merchants entered the ocean together. They arrived at the island of Chandana, a sacred place. The merchants cut down the sandalwood, filled the ships, and then returned. At that time, the yaksha guarding that island was named Great Power. Because the yaksha's front area was far away, the other yakshas summoned him, and at that time he also arrived there, releasing an unbearable black wind, and when the ships shook violently, the five hundred merchants were very frightened and became hesitant. However, the one named 'Possessing' remained calm, and the others asked him the reason. He said, 'The one named 'Possessing' is true. Because we didn't listen to him, it has become like this. Now there is no way, and there is no use in being anxious.' All the merchants recognized 'Possessing' as great. Everyone sought refuge in 'Possessing.' That was because the deity who liked 'Possessing' summoned him. There, 'Possessing' instantly came onto the ship with miraculous power. That black wind returned as if it had hit Mount Meru. Then, 'Possessing' asked the yaksha, 'Why do you guard the sandalwood? Is it for the sake of the Wheel-Turning King?' The yaksha replied. 'Even more supreme than that is the Buddha, so for his sake, release these sandalwood.' The yaksha also released them. Afterward, the ships arrived safely, reaching the city called 'Disciple.' They built a temple of sandalwood where the Buddha resided, and all the brothers harmoniously invited the Buddha and the Sangha, and also reached harmony with the king. Afterward, the son of the noble Maitreya, 'Possessing,' ascended to the rooftop, arranged the offerings, and faced the garden of Prince Jeta, praying to invite the Teacher and his retinue. Due to the Buddha's blessing, the flowers turned into buildings, the incense turned into the shape of clouds, and the water turned into the shape of a pile of lapis lazuli, rising into the sky and going away, which everyone saw. Immediately, the offerings arrived before the Teacher in the garden of Prince Jeta. Ananda asked, 'Where did these come from?' The Teacher said, 'They are from the city of Disciple, which is hundreds of yojanas away.' He told the monks to go to the city of Disciple the next day to receive alms.

That Arhat then manifested miraculous powers, managing to take the wooden stick in the interval between distributing it to the two elders, before it was distributed to the third. Because that place was particularly inhabited by non-Buddhists, the monks were permitted to display miraculous powers. The next morning, the king of the city with students arose early, swept the city, sprinkled it with sandalwood water, arranged various offerings, and displayed various decorations. The city had eighteen great gates, with the other seventeen gates each guarded by one of the king's seventeen sons. The king himself, along with the noble Maitreya's son Gambo, and the host brothers who had been invited, sat together at the largest gate on the east side with a large gathering of people. There, as soon as dawn broke, monks arrived there by means of miraculous powers, some carrying leaves, some carrying vessels, and some preparing water. The king asked, "Has the Buddha arrived?" Gambo replied, "It is so." Then, the elder monks arrived there with various miraculous powers, saying thus: Some rode lions, tigers, elephants, horses, dragons, and the best steeds. Some relied on immeasurable palaces of jewels, mountains, beautiful trees, and burning vehicles. Others, from the surface of the sky, like being adorned with garlands of clouds and lightning. Exceedingly joyful, like a palace of the gods, they strove to go forth with miraculous powers. Some emerged upwards from breaking through the earth. Some descended from the center of the sky. Some manifested from cushions. Behold the power of those possessing miraculous powers! It was like this. Afterwards, the Bhagavan washed his feet in Prince Victory Banner's garden, and when he placed his feet in the scented chamber, the great earth shook in six ways, and rays of light like the color of gold emanated, pervading all directions. The king of the city with students was amazed, and Gambo explained it to him one by one. Then, the Bhagavan, together with five hundred Arhats, ascended into the sky, Victory Banner

A deity dwelling on the mountain held a large Bakula tree branch, offering cool shade to the Teacher's body. The Teacher taught the Dharma, and that deity also attained the Stream-entry fruit. Then, in another place along the way, there lived about five hundred widows. They saw the Buddha's body blazing with radiance, appearing in the sky. With faith, they prepared a seat, and the Teacher sat upon it and taught the Dharma. At that very moment, the five hundred widows realized the truth. They requested the Buddha, who used his miraculous power to cut off his hair and nails and gave them to them. They also built a stupa. The deity also planted the Bakula tree branch there, and the tree grew abundantly. Then, he again traveled through the sky, arriving at a dwelling place in another region, where five hundred ascetics lived. To subdue their arrogance, he used his miraculous power to instantly destroy the flowers and fruits, dry up the water, wither the young grass, and collapse the dwellings. When they were puzzled, the Buddha said: Why are you puzzled? They replied: Since you left, this place has become like this. The Buddha said: Shall I restore it to its former state? They said: Blessed One, please do so. As soon as he said that, everything returned to its former state, and they were amazed. The Buddha taught them the Dharma, and they attained the Non-Returner fruit and also accomplished miraculous powers. They were fully ordained with "Welcome, Bhikkhu," and having exerted effort and diligence, they immediately attained Arhatship. They also came to attend to the Buddha. An ascetic living on the Bhrtun Mountain, wearing clothes made of tree leaves, saw the Buddha from afar, and with faith, he jumped from the mountain. The Teacher caught him with his miraculous power and placed him on the ground. He taught him the Dharma, until he attained Arhatship, just like before. Then, the Blessed One, surrounded by a thousand Arhats, displayed various miracles in the sky and walked like a disciple. Knowing that if he entered through one gate, those at the other gates would be displeased, he entered the center of the city from the sky. The king and his retinue came to the Teacher and prostrated at his feet. Then, the Blessed One sat on the prepared seats in the sandalwood mansion for the Sangha. The king and others offered immeasurable offerings.

Then, understanding the thoughts of those retinues, he taught the right Dharma, and countless retinues arose with certainty, were established in the four fruits, generated the three bodhicittas, and so on, until the infinite. Then, on another clear day, when they began to offer umbrellas, the black dragon king and Gautami, together with a retinue of five hundred dragons, made the sound of dragons in order to behold the Buddha. Seeing that they were descending with five hundred rivers, and that if they came, the city would be destroyed, the Thus-gone One and Maudgalyāyana first accepted the share of the umbrellas, and then went to the seashore, to the two dragons, saying: Do not harm those who dwell in the city like disciples. They also said: We will not harm even creatures as small as ants. He placed those dragons in refuge and the place of learning. By teaching the Dharma, he made them have faith. Then, when doing the work of food, those dragons also thought to offer water to drink, and Maudgalyāyana took a bowl full of water mixed from the five hundred rivers that the dragons had descended, and offered it to the Teacher and offered it. Forty-seventh, Going to the Radiant World: Then, not long after, the great noble Maudgalyāyana wanted to benefit his mother, so he examined where his mother was born, but he did not see anything. Then he reported the matter to the Teacher, the perfectly complete Buddha, who said: From here to the west, there is a world called the Radiant World, and she was born there. Then Maudgalyāyana said: My mother will also become a disciple of the Bhagavan, please take her with compassion and tame her. The Bhagavan said: Maudgalyāyana, by whose magic shall we go? Bhagavan, by my magic. Then, the center of this three-thousand-great-thousand world.
