Subduing retinue, peaceful retinue peaceful, liberated retinue liberated, breath-controlled retinue breath-controlled, completely subdued retinue completely subdued, Arhat retinue Arhat, detached retinue detached, like the sun surrounded by a thousand rays of light. The body is like a precious mountain that can walk freely, a fathom of light, adorned with marks and signs, possessing great compassion, with the great Sangha of monks, and the gatherings of benefactors such as Anathapindika, and hundreds of thousands of gods attending, as soon as he placed his foot on the threshold of the city gate, the great earth shook in six ways. The entire world was filled with light. From the sky, the gods rained down flowers and proclaimed the sound of music. The uneven ground became level. Elephants, horses, and herds of cattle made sounds. All the musical instruments and vessels emitted their own sounds. The blind regained their sight. The deaf heard sounds. The mute could speak. Those who lacked faculties had their faculties fully perfected. Those intoxicated by alcohol and poison and those who hated each other were pacified. Pregnant women gave birth easily. Those who were imprisoned were released. Those who had no wealth obtained wealth. Such wondrous phenomena, not manifested through miraculous powers, but occurring naturally, are therefore called various wondrous natural phenomena. This, in context, applies to all regions where the teacher and his retinue, invited by a king or benefactor, etc., have never been before. Then, the Blessed One went to the temple built by the benefactor, and in the center of the Sangha of monks, sat on the prepared seat. The benefactor Anathapindika, together with his relatives and retinue, respectfully held a golden water vase, but the water could not flow from the vase. Then he thought, "Have I done something wrong?" and felt displeased. The Blessed One said, "It is not so. But because you once offered this place to the Buddhas of the past, sprinkle water in another place." When he sprinkled water there, the water flowed out. Past

The way of offering to the Buddhas of the past is as follows: During the time of the Buddha Vipashyin, the Chakravartin king was named the householder Victorious; during the time of the Buddha Sikhin, the Chakravartin king was named the householder Increasing; during the time of the Buddha Vishvabhu, the Chakravartin king was named the householder Mouth; during the time of the Buddha Krakucchanda, the Chakravartin king was named the householder Giving Governance; during the time of the Buddha Kanakamuni, the Chakravartin king was named the householder Jupiter; and during the time of the Buddha Kashyapa, the Chakravartin king was named the householder Water Empty, and they offered. In the future, when the Buddha Maitreya appears, the Chakravartin king will be named the householder Norzang and will offer. Thus it was prophesied. Here, sprinkling water is a custom of the people of India. For any large donation that is not food or drink, pure water is sprinkled, so here it is also a symbol of offering a monastery. At that time, it is necessary to state the object that is being donated. At that time, Prince Victorious thought: When the Blessed One speaks of stating the object, how wonderful it would be if he mentioned my name first! Knowing his thoughts, the Blessed One said: Monks, this is Prince Victorious's garden, the Anathapindika's grove. Hearing this, the youth Victorious was very happy and ordered the construction of a gatehouse with the nature of seven precious jewels. The account of King Prasenajit's faith is as follows: Not long after that, King Prasenajit heard that the Blessed One was staying in Victorious's garden, so he himself, along with his retinue, went to the Teacher's presence. After prostrating, he sat on one side and said: It is said that the ascetic Gautama has attained unsurpassed perfect enlightenment and become a Buddha. If this is said, is it not lying and slandering the ascetic Gautama? The Blessed One replied: No, I have attained unsurpassed perfect enlightenment and become a Buddha. King Prasenajit asked: For the time being, even old and elderly ascetics and Brahmins, perfect ones, do not claim to be so. What need is there to mention the young Gautama, who was born not long ago and has recently become a renunciate? At that time, the Blessed One said: One who has the marks of a royal lineage, as well as a creeping fire and a monk who possesses discipline, should not be despised by those with wisdom. The meaning of this is illustrated by the example of a young person.

After the extensive discourse in the sutra, King Prasenajit developed faith in the Bhagavan, the All-Knowing One, and the Perfectly Complete Buddha. He touched his head to the Buddha's feet and departed. At that time, the Bhagavan, along with the great Sangha of monks, was residing in Venuvana at the Jeta Grove in Sravasti, spending the rainy season retreat. The following year, father and son met. The Forty-second Chapter: The Chapter of Father and Son Meeting: After King Prasenajit gained true faith, he informed King Suddhodana: "Please generate joy, for your son has attained amrita (nectar) and satisfies beings with amrita." Thereupon, King Suddhodana sent a messenger to the Teacher. The messenger, due to the splendor of the Teacher and the Dharma, experienced great joy and the bliss of perfection, and was ordained there, not returning. Similarly, from the second to the seventh messenger, all those who were sent were ordained and did not return, so no one delivered the message. Then, King Suddhodana rested his hands on his cheeks, lost in thought. The son of the attendant, Caraka, asked the reason. The king said: "When young Siddhartha was practicing austerities, everyone brought news, but now that he has attained amrita and abides in perfection, all the messengers who were sent have not returned." Caraka said: "For this matter, I will go." The king said: "You too will see his perfection and remain there." Caraka said: "I will definitely return." At that time, King Suddhodana personally wrote a letter, which read as follows: "Since you entered the womb, I have raised you greatly. Like the fire of affliction blazing fiercely, you reside on the tree of victory. Now your disciples, the branches and twigs, flourish. Others rejoice in happiness, but I am destined for suffering. Furthermore, who made you like a sprout of a tree? I have nurtured you from childhood, thinking this is my son. If one son is used by many people of the country to enjoy the fruits, then the fruit of his merit

You don't give your son, you have no compassion! When he was first born, you said to your relatives, 'Very great, able to give benefit,' in order to accomplish your own purpose. Since you have made such a vow, since you have attained peace, please care for me and my relatives with compassion, please consider going! After saying this, Ārdraka took the letter and left, arriving in Śrāvastī in seven days. He went before the Teacher and presented the letter of King Śuddhodana, which the Buddha himself took and read, then placed it aside. Ārdraka reported: "Bhagavan, will you not go to Kapilavastu?" The Buddha replied: "I will go." Previously, Ārdraka was very familiar with the Bhagavan, so if the Bhagavan would not go, I would invite you with my power. He requested in this presumptuous way. The Buddha said: "Who can invite the one who is free from desire and possesses boundless realms?" He said: "I will go, I will inform Śuddhodana." The Teacher said: "A messenger of the Buddha is not like this, you should become a renunciate." He said: "If I promise the king to return, what should I do?" First become a renunciate, then do as promised. After that, Ārdraka was entrusted to the venerable Śāriputra, and after he had become a renunciate and taken full ordination, Śāriputra taught him all the practices, and then he went before the Bhagavan. The Buddha said: "Ārdraka, you go, do not enter the palace rashly, wait at the gate, and say: 'A Śākya bhikṣu has come.' If they say 'Come in,' then enter. If they ask if there are other bhikṣus, say yes. If they ask if Gautama looks like this, say yes. Do not stay in the palace. If they ask if the prince (referring to Rāhula) is not there either, say no. If they ask where he is, say in the monastery. If they ask what it is like, show a picture of the Veṇuvana. If they ask if he will come, say yes. If they ask when he will come, say after seven days." After that, when Ārdraka went to Kapilavastu, he arrived in Kapilavastu in an instant by the power of the Buddha. Ārdraka developed great faith in the Buddha. He also sat at the gate of the palace as the Teacher had said.
