Similarly, this praise known as the "Blessed Praise of Saving from the Eight Fears" might possibly be by another Nyima Sebpa. It should be known that it was not composed by this teacher. The main disciple of this teacher was the Omniscient Spiritual Friend. Furthermore, countless teachers who had accomplished the vidyā-mantra of Tara appeared. The Omniscient Spiritual Friend taught Dhana Mitra. He taught Tathāgata Mitra. He taught Dharma Mitra of the island of Simhala. He taught Śīla Rakṣita. This was contemporaneous with Sgegpa Dorje. It is said that until then the lineage had not been interrupted, and that this comes from the biographies of previous teachers and the verses of stories. At those times, the story of the eight teachers who were saved from the eight fears is as follows: In southern India, there was a teacher named Dīkavarma, a great master who diligently kept vows and held the Tripitaka. He was one who had accomplished the vidyā-mantra based on this very tantra from which Yamāntaka and Tara arise. He debated with a heretical Brahmin teacher named Gāpurī in the southern region of Vidarbha. The heretic was defeated, and all his places of activity were taken by the Buddhists. Then, when that teacher was teaching the Dharma and giving a feast together with the monks in the monastery, the heretics set fire to the monastery. The teacher prayed to the Holy Lady, and the Holy Lady went into the expanse of the sky. A stream of water actually fell from the sky and extinguished the fire. Also, there was a teacher named Amara Siṃha, a royal scribe who had become a renunciate and spoke of the Abhidharma of the Great and Small Vehicles. Relying on the tantra from which Tara arises, he made the Holy Mother Tara his yidam. He established his residence in the western region of Malava, teaching the Dharma Abhidharma to about five hundred students of Abhidharma, and it is said that he stayed in that place for twenty-four years. In all those places, he was surrounded by a retinue of about five hundred who were training their minds in Abhidharma. Once, in that region, there was a black-sided Naga king named Lali. He suddenly sent down an unbearable torrential rain, and the rainwater turned into a river.

A flood occurred, like the Yamuna River overflowing, threatening to submerge the teacher's residence and many cities. The teacher prayed to the Holy Mother Tara, and the flood repeatedly circumambulated the teacher's residence and the city of Ujjayani to the right, eventually flowing into another great river. The Naga returned to its abode, taking with it a small Turkic city. Tara prophesied that the teacher should compose a treatise on vocabulary, so the teacher composed the 'Immortal Treasury.' Even now, this treatise is very popular both inside and outside India. It is said that the 'king's scribe' mentioned in the text refers to King Viprakarma Deva. There was also a teacher named Lion of the Gods, who abided in the vows of a layperson, was well-versed in the sutras and shastras of both the Greater and Lesser Vehicles, and became the guru of King Harshadeva of Kashmir, a Dharma speaker. He was revered by kings, householders, Brahmins, and various people in Kashmir, Lahore, Maru, and other places, and built about five hundred Buddhist temples. Because he extensively taught the Dharma in Ghazni and other places near Kashmir, the Turkic cannibalistic customs almost disappeared. A Turkic cannibalistic king imprisoned the teacher, saying, 'Give up taking refuge in the Three Jewels and convert to Islam, or I will kill you.' The teacher said, 'Even if faced with death, I have no other refuge than the Three Jewels.' So the king put him in iron fetters and threw him into a terrible prison pit. The teacher prayed to Tara, the deity of his heart, and the iron fetters turned into garlands of flowers. The goddesses rained down flowers and sandalwood powder in the prison, and played great music. The Turkic king came to see, and seeing that the fetters were gone, he put another set of fetters on him, but these fetters also turned into a garland of flowers. In this way, seven sets of fetters turned into garlands of flowers, and the king was amazed and revered the teacher as an object of veneration. However, he was unable to spread the Holy Dharma there, and feeling disgusted, he went to Kashmir. There was also a great teacher of the Vaibhashika school named Sanghamitra.

In a dream, in front of the Great Sage and his retinue, there was a green goddess who said, "You should study the Mahayana well." Therefore, he went to Kashmir and listened to many teachings of the Mahayana Sutra and Tantra. Because he had the Holy Mother Tara as his personal deity, but could not find a place to hear the Prajnaparamita, he heard that in Central Tibet there was a teacher named Grolde (解脱军, Liberation Army) who taught the Prajnaparamita, so he went to Central Tibet, but on the way he was captured by robbers, who said, "We must offer the goddess Durga the blood of a murdered person, so we have captured you." When they arrived at the place of the goddess Durga, which was like a cemetery, he prayed to the Holy Mother Tara, and as a result, the statue of the goddess broke into many pieces by itself. The robbers were also frightened and ran away, and the teacher was freed. Also, there was a teacher named Subhashakirti (善贤称, Good Virtuous Name), a great holder of the Vinaya, who relied on the Tara-appearing Tantra as his practice. Once he went from Central Tibet in the direction of the West, and eventually built a monastery on a mountain, teaching the Dharma, and the Sangha also flourished. There were many Garlog officials there, and those shaved-headed, red-clothed people said, "These people will harm us, we must destroy them all." So they brought an army of about three hundred elephants. There, they prayed to Tara and others, and Tara said, "Sprinkle water in the direction the army is coming from." When they did so, all the elephants were very frightened, and no one could control them, so they ran back to their own places. There was also a teacher named Buddhadāsa (佛陀奴, Buddha's Servant), who was the Khenpo of Dhanapuri. Once he went on a journey and there were many tiger dens in a deserted village. The teacher asked about the situation and learned that the tigers were eating many people in the city every day, let alone other small creatures. Hearing this, he felt great compassion and continued on his way. As a result, all the tigers rushed at the teacher. He prayed to Tara, recited mantras, and sprinkled water, and the tigers developed peaceful minds. From then on, they no longer harmed sentient beings, abstained from food, and passed away, and fire appeared as a sign of being reborn as gods.

A great rain of flowers fell. Also, a teacher named "Servant of the Three Jewels," who was a disciple of the teacher Dignāga, was teaching the Dharma in the eastern region of Oḍiviśa. Once, a great venomous serpent emerged from the great ocean and devoured many people and elephants. When it approached the city of Utkala, he saw that countless beings would be harmed, so he fervently prayed to Tara and scattered mustard seeds that had been blessed with the Tara mantra. He said, "Although this place is the land of the powerful, you possess the compassionate heart to benefit beings. Heed my words and go to rest under the earth!" As soon as he spoke, the serpent immediately retreated, entered the Ganges, and went into the ocean. There was also a teacher named Yeshe Lha, who was a disciple of Shantideva. He engaged in listening and teaching activities in the southern Indian region of Trimala for a long time, and finally thought, "I should meditate in the snowy mountains." So he went north and did various beneficial things in the region of Tirahuti. At that time, in one part of that region, a small city belonging to the Tharu caste was afflicted by a Brahma demon, and everyone from the village chief to the agricultural guru died at the same time. On that day, the teacher arrived there, and a terrible zombie ran out. The teacher threw a phurba that had been blessed with the Tara mantra, and the zombie was struck in the head and fell down. The teacher entered the city and prayed to Tara, and a great rain of nectar that could revive the dead fell, and most of the dead people in the city were revived. There is also a story of achieving accomplishment without having to practice the eight siddhis: A monk who practiced Tara as his yidam went begging in order to build a temple. A Brahmin gave a pot of "ghi," which he took and made into balls in the Tara temple. He left one of the leftovers in the sun, and the wind blew gold dust and hemp, and other dust from the ball materials onto it. He made another ball, and while he was reciting mantras, a fire blazed from the middle of the ball. He carried that ball on his body.
