Nailed to a bright wood. Those robbers even ate human flesh, like rakshasas. That merchant was very frightened, and since there was no other refuge, he prayed to Tara. An emanation of Tara, an army of warriors holding weapons, appeared immeasurably, driving those robbers far away, without death or killing. Thus, after the robbers scattered, that merchant went safely and returned to Bharukaccha again. Rescue from prison: A leader of thieves tunneled through the wall of the king's treasury and stole a bottle of wine. He drank it and immediately became intoxicated and fell asleep. The king's men discovered him, seized him, and put him in a dungeon, bound with ropes, suffering various torments. There was no other refuge, so he prayed to Tara. A five-colored bird descended from the sky and untied the ropes, and the door of the prison also opened automatically. He escaped as he pleased and returned to his homeland. In a dream, a woman adorned with all kinds of jewels appeared and said, "If you remember my kindness, you and your retinue should give up the profession of thieves!" That thief, together with his five hundred attendants, abandoned the profession of robbers and performed great virtuous deeds. Rescue from the fear of ocean waves: About five thousand merchants traveling the southern route hired three large ships and embarked on a great vessel to the island of jewels. One ship was filled with jewels. Then they went to the island of sandalwood, and the second ship was filled with sandalwood. Then they wanted to return to their country, but the wealth-owners of the sea became angry and sent a great wind, carrying them far away. They crossed many oceans of different colors and finally arrived at a place of violent waves. Before that, the merchants prayed day and night to Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, the Moon, the Sun, Kubera, and so on, but it was of no use. There, the ship's ropes broke, and the ships of jewels and sandalwood were also lost, and the great ship was about to sink. Then, there was a Buddhist lay practitioner who, remembering Tara,

By reciting the mantra of the eleven-faced Avalokiteśvara with a loud and clear voice. Immediately, a favorable wind arose, and the ship returned, reaching Jambudvipa in one night. The ships of jewels and sandalwood were also blown back by the wind, gathering together. The story of being saved from the fear of flesh-eating demons is: In a monastery in the east, only Śrāvakayāna monks resided. Once, when someone went for a walk on the ground outside the monastery at night, the monks died one by one, and the monastic community of that monastery declined. One night, a novice went for a walk, and a flesh-eating demon with a hideous appearance, black and ugly, with bared fangs, appeared and grabbed his head. He thought: The Mahayana practitioners say that Tara can save from the eight fears, I should take refuge in her. So he called out the name of Tara. Immediately, a black goddess holding a sword appeared and threatened the flesh-eating demon. The flesh-eating demon begged the novice for forgiveness, and dug out an iron vase filled with pearls from underground and gave it to him. From then on, the calamity in that monastery ceased. The story of being saved from the fear of leprosy is: In the country of Kumarakṣetra, a Brahmin teacher was afflicted with leprosy due to karma. The leprosy was contagious, and five hundred Brahmins were infected with severe leprosy. Relatives and doctors abandoned them. The Brahmins lost their vows of cleanliness, lived on leftovers, and begged everywhere. On the road, they saw a stone statue of the noble Holy Tara and developed faith. The five hundred Brahmins prayed together, and medicinal water flowed from Tara's hand. Just by bathing in the medicinal water, the leprosy was immediately cured, and their bodies became as beautiful as those of gods. The story of being saved from the harm of Indra's messengers is: Indra is the guardian of the eastern world, and his messengers are the demons of the Gandharvas. They are very rough, like to instigate, and often hinder the Dharma. The story of being saved from them is: In a forest called "Destroyed", there were five hundred Śrāvakayāna meditating monks. They diligently practiced virtuous Dharma. One day, Indra's messenger appeared

Some were Brahmins, some were women, some had the appearance of monks, and sometimes fierce forms of yakshas appeared, such as lions, elephants, and Sharabhas, with many frightening faces. Sometimes they would entice with threats, and sometimes with praise. Some monks lost consciousness, some went mad, and some became mentally unstable, spending their days only with songs and dances. Then, a monk, realizing that he was being tormented by the obstruction of spirits, thought that the goddess Tara, who is known as the savior from all fears, might be helpful. So he wrote "This is the forest of the goddess Tara" and hung it on a tree. Just then, the fear itself subsided, and all of them, having faith in the goddess Tara, entered the Mahayana. As for being saved from the fear of poverty: A very poor Brahmin, being destitute, was in a street where there was a stone statue of Tara. He told her all about his suffering. She pointed to a place near a stupa, saying, "Dig here and you will find treasure." When he dug, he found a golden vase filled with pearls, a silver vase filled with various jewels, and so on, and it is said that the suffering of poverty was eliminated for seven generations. Also, a poor farmer, reciting the name of the Holy Tara and praying, a woman wearing a garment of tree leaves appeared and prophesied, "Go to the east!" He went to the east and lay down on the sand. He woke up to the sound of a bell. There he saw a green horse adorned with bells digging in the sand with its hooves. Then, the horse suddenly disappeared elsewhere. When he dug in the place where the horse's hooves had dug, first a silver door appeared, then doors of gold, crystal, lapis lazuli, and so on, the seven precious doors appeared one after another, opening into an underground world where he became the lord of many nagas, gods, and asuras, enjoying many pleasures of desire. Once, he came back to his own country through the door of the earth's hole, and in the meantime, three generations of kings had passed.

It is said. Saving from the fear of separation from relatives: Once there was a Brahmin who had many relatives and great wealth. At one time, a great plague occurred, and his sons, wife, brothers, nephews, uncles, etc., all died. His heart was overwhelmed with sorrow, so he went to Varanasi. Then, Buddhist devotees went to the place where the great Tara festival was being held, and having heard of the greatness of Tara, he scattered a handful of flowers and prayed. When he returned, he obtained the daughter of King Jaya Chandra as his bride and became the ruler of the land. He built one hundred and eight Tara temples, and in all of them he also established great Buddhist festivals. Saving from the fear of the king's punishment: In a place called Ayodhya, there was a householder with great power and wealth. Once, due to some reason, the king of the country became displeased with that householder and began to look for his faults. The householder also seduced and led many of the king's people to Tirahuti. Another time, he went to the city of Champā, and the king of Ayodhya sent four strong men, who bound the householder and brought him back to Ayodhya. He remembered the Holy Mother Tara and prayed. Due to the blessing of the deity, when the householder's foot was placed on the threshold, the threshold turned into gold. In the prison where he was imprisoned, a rain of pearl necklaces fell. When they were about to execute him on the gallows, the gallows turned into a mango tree adorned with flowers and fruits. The king and all the others were amazed, thinking, 'This person is so virtuous, how can he be executed with punishment?' So they placed him in the position of the king's minister. Saving from the fear of falling vajras: In the country of Bengal, there was a layperson. As he was going to inspect the boundaries of his fields, there was a shrine of a yaksha on the road. The layperson stepped over the shrine, and the yaksha became angry. At night, as the layperson was staying in his own house, twenty-one burning meteorites fell from the sky. Just by remembering the Holy Tara, all the flames of the meteorites turned into flowers. The layperson himself, his sons and wife, possessions, etc., nothing
