If you abandon the nature of reality, guarding vows is abandoning the nature of reality. If you seek activity, it is abandoning the nature of reality. If you traverse the bhumis and paths, it is abandoning the nature of reality. If you accomplish the fruit, it is abandoning the nature of reality. Why is that? Because all of those are duality of rejection and acceptance. It is the disease of effort in seeing the seer and the seen. It is the disease of effort in meditating on the meditator and the meditated upon. It is the disease of effort in acting on the actor and the acted upon. It is the disease of effort in accomplishing the fruit. It is the disease of effort in liberating through the bhumis and paths. Practicing like that will not bring liberation. Unless dualistic appearances are severed by awareness, the perfection of going beyond is extremely precious. Thus it was said. This is the eighth chapter, showing that liberation is not attained through rejection, acceptance, abandonment, and attainment. Then, Vajrasattva requested the Teacher Kunsang (Samantabhadra) thus: "Please, Teacher, speak to the retinue the pith instructions on the means to attain the Dharmakaya without being mistaken." Having requested thus, the Teacher, the Mind-Itself Kunsang, entered into the samadhi without the establishment of preciousness. Having arisen from that, he spoke thus: "The means to attain the unchanging Dharmakaya, you should not strive to accomplish. In the state of abandoning all activities, you should let yourself remain in your own place. Be free from the disease of abandoning and taking, attachment and grasping. My teaching of the command is that it has not been taught in other vehicles. Alala ho! (Tibetan, Devanagari Sanskrit, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning) Alala ho! This essence of my nectar, I appear in all of appearance and existence. Appearing, yet you do not see me. Rest in the state of not seeing. I pervade all vessels and essence. Pervading all, I am not apprehended. Rest in the state of not being apprehended. I am the basis of all, the actual basis. Being the actual basis, I am not pervasive. Rest in the state of not being established. All is divided by me, yet there is not a single doer or perceiver. Rest in the state of not being divided. I appear in all, yet all do not see me. Rest in the state of not being seen. All is done by me, yet I have not done any object. Rest in the state of not doing. All is 345༄༅། །tamed by me, yet I am not untamed by anyone. Rest in the state of not being tamed. All is sought by me, yet I am not sought by anyone. Rest in the state of not seeking. All is abandoned by me, yet I am not abandoned by anyone. Rest in the state of not abandoning. All is accomplished by me, yet I am not accomplished by anyone. Rest in the state of not accomplishing. All is examined by me, yet I am not examined by anyone.

Also not examined. Abide in the state of non-examination. I am the one who represents everything, I am not represented by anyone. Abide in the state of non-representation. I am the one who knows everything, but no one knows my own nature. Abide in the state of non-knowing. I am the one who generates everything, but I am not generated by anyone. Abide in the state of ungenerated completion. I am the one who realizes everything, but I am not realized by anyone. Abide in the state of non-realization. Because of the unborn nature of awareness, abide in the state of no experience. Because of no movement in the mind, abide in the state of no movement. Because of no naming in the mind, abide in the state of no elaboration and grasping. Abide in the state of unchanging reality. Abide in the state of self-luminous appearance. Abide in the non-differentiation of these two. Abide in the reality of no substance. Abide in the appearance of no negation or affirmation. Abide in the non-calculation of these two 346. All the outer and inner white and red realms, appear but do not abide in their own nature. All the activities of the mind in reality, do not appear but do not abide in their own nature. All the dualistic appearances of grasping and being grasped in between, abide in the state of cutting off elaboration. Abide in the state of no birth. Abide in the state of no change. Abide in the state of unspeakable, unthinkable, and unutterable. Abide in the space of unobstructed Dharmakaya. Abide in the state of non-dualistic thoughts. Even the words of abiding, abide in non-duality. Thus it is said. The ninth chapter, the means of practice and abiding, is complete. Then, Vajrasattva asked the teacher Kuntuzangpo: How is the oral instruction for abiding, which is naturally abiding without artificiality? Thus he asked. Then, the teacher, the mind itself, Samantabhadra, entered into the samadhi of no radiating jewel light, and arising from that, said: This is the means of naturally abiding, self-purifying without artificiality, Vajrasattva should know. Those who wish to see me, do not look, let it be freely abiding. Because there is no object to be seen by looking, by not looking and abiding, you will meet the deity. Those who wish to meditate on me, do not meditate, abide in the state of being. Unchanging abiding meets me. Those who wish to practice in me, do not practice, abide in the state of non-action 347༄༅།. Non-action abiding is practice itself. Those who wish to protect me, do not protect, abide in the state of transcendence. Non-protection abiding is the samaya. Those who wish to strive in me, do not strive, abide in the state of non-striving.
