Then, with rays of light, summon the deceased and dispel the evil spirits. Absorb into the form and attach the life-thread. Perform the mandala entry sequence properly. Urge the accumulation of mantra recitation and burn sins. Praise, confess, and make true aspirations. Recite the practice that cuts off continuity and purifies the lower realms. Finally, ignite the fire in the homa pit. Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྂ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hūṃ), the victorious one who destroys hatred, wearing blue garments and holding a vajra. In this mandala of wisdom's blazing fire, I pray to burn away the karma-laden, life-depleted sentient being, And the habits of hatred and obscurations of sin. Speak these words properly and meticulously. Burn white butter and white sesame seeds, And burn with all the mantras. By burning seeds of poison and so on, Think of cutting off their lineage. Make aspirations that accord with the power of bliss. Then dissolve the vase deity into light. Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྂ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hūṃ), the victorious one who purifies the lower realms, holding a vajra. With this stream of wisdom water that purifies negativity, May this deceased sentient being, with exhausted karma and lifespan, Have all non-virtuous sins and obscurations completely purified. Recite all the mantras and wash with the vase water. Think of purifying obscurations and make aspirations. Having done this again and again, Visualize them as deities, From the appropriate empowerment and blessings, Grant the accomplishment of purifying obscurations through recitation. State the power of truth and make aspirations. Finally, absorb the vase deity into your heart. Pray for them to go to the Akaniṣṭha heaven. Burn and purify the form of the corpse and so on, And offer to the Sugata and his retinue with offerings. Then, if you want to cremate the corpse, Wash it with fragrant water, Write letters that match the form of the root deity. Summon the consciousness and dispel the evil spirits. Absorb into play and visualize as a deity, Place it in the wooden house, the palace of the Sugata. Place it and perform the fire offering properly. Also burn the previous letters. Collect the bones and erect a stupa. This will purify sins and obscurations. I have definitely said that you will attain bliss. Thus it was said. From the Tantra of the Ocean of Actions. The twenty-third chapter on purifying the obscurations of the deceased and bringing bliss. Then, Mahākāla again requested: "Alas! Secret Lord Vajrapani, How can one be liberated from samsara and attain bliss? What method should one rely on? Please show me the sequence." The Lord of Secrets said: "Mahākāla, listen carefully."

Now asking that is excellent! Previously, the order I explained, Whatever generates faith and reverses attachment, Was spoken to establish in happiness. Thus, may you be liberated from samsara and attain happiness! I will explain it well to you. If you do not understand the nature of mind, In no way can you attain nirvana. Even if you understand but do not meditate or accomplish it, I will not say that you can attain it. Thus, the characteristic of mind is, The master of samsara, nirvana, permanence, and annihilation. Like the precious ocean of the sky, Though various appearances arise, it is the nature of mind that appears. Though various things gather, they gather in the mind. Before all things, Boundless, beyond the reach of words, The self-arisen wisdom vajra arises. The vast, all-pervading dharmakaya. The impartial bodhichitta. There is no yes or no, no negation or affirmation. In the actual essence of mind itself, There is no direction, type, or this alone. I do not speak of myself or all the victors. Those who are attached to names, Have no true reason in that reality. Therefore, that is not true. The nature of mind is of various natures, Because its own nature is not fixed as one, The thoughts of sentient beings are different, According to the power of habituation and imprints, As it appears and is grasped, so it abides. Things do not exist permanently. From the appearance of mind as a similar object, There is nothing separate or cut off. Like dreams, illusions, and mirages, Those are not established as true. Since all arises from the mind, Therefore, the mind is all-knowing, all-supreme, and excellent. Thus, because one does not realize it, The nature of mind is primordially enlightened, Though it is within oneself, one does not recognize it. Though one sees the truth, one does not recognize it. Like the treasure of a poor person or a hidden treasure, Obscured by thoughts, one does not see the meaning. Like the turbidity of the ocean. Ignorance is self-born, accomplishing itself. Like the saliva of a silkworm, Attachment and thoughts are self-born, binding oneself. Due to the power of ignorance, attachment, and thoughts, From beginningless time, one wanders in the three realms. The six classes of beings experience happiness and suffering. Distracted by thoughts without true meaning. In order to turn back from that, The essence of attachment to the world is, Pacified by supreme samadhi. Like blackness and purity, The best of non-abiding self-purification. With the distinction of the power of intelligence, I will explain the gradual and complete paths. In a place that is agreeable to the mind, Cut off the ties of needed relatives. Virtue
