The secret mantra practitioners in remote areas mostly adhere to the teachings of the great master Padmasambhava. The majority of them are followers of the twelve orders of yogis who follow the great accomplished Goraksha. In particular, there are many yogis from the Nadeśvara lineage of the Natha Pantha, who follow the Vajra Master Śāntagupta and his spiritual sons. Later, in the southern part of India, in the region of the Vindhya Mountains, there was a king named Bālabhadra, who ruled the country of Bhamdva and was accomplished in mantra. He translated most of the southern tantras. He regarded Śībagupta and his assembly of disciples as his gurus and worked to revive the precious teachings of the Sugata. The Buddha himself prophesied that in the future, the sacred Dharma would flourish anew in the southern Vindhya Mountains. This is what the Indians proclaim. It is said that from those lineages until the present day, the precious teachings continue to flourish. How did the teachings come to and flourish in the snowy land? In this region, the cause of the flourishing of the Buddha's teachings is solely due to the kindness of the great master Padmasambhava. Initially, for those who were not suitable for practicing the Dharma, he blessed them in various ways to make them vessels suitable for practicing the sacred Dharma. First, he built monasteries, and then he established monastic colleges for sutras and tantras, so that the actual teachings could flourish. As it is said in the Mañjuśrīmūlatantra: "Excellent, excellent, good, Earth-light, likewise Earth-light good, Likewise, the Victorious One who subdues others, And knowing the gait of the feet is the teaching." Among the prophecies about the Tibetan emperors, the fourth is Earth-light Good, that is, Trisong Detsen, an incarnation of the Bodhisattva Mañjuśrī, who wished to spread the Dharma in Tibet. He invited Ācārya Bodhisattva Śāntarakṣita and installed him in the palace called Klung-tshugs, where he taught many teachings of the causal vehicle for many months. But the spirits of Tibet became angry, and a flood carried away the Phangthang Palace, lightning struck Red Hill, a great plague spread in the land, and hail and frost fell heavily, and the Tibetans said that it was because of practicing the Dharma, because they were not suitable for practicing the Dharma.
