If one were to claim that the Dharma of the three baskets translated before the arrival of Lotsāwa Rinchen Zangpo [958-1055 CE], as well as the tantras of Kriya, Charya, and Yoga, etc., are not Dharma, then one would have to concede that everything translated before the arrival of the great translator Rinchen Zangpo is not Dharma. In particular, if there are those who can deny that the old tantras of the unsurpassable secret mantra are not Dharma, then they would have to concede that the glorious Guhyasamaja, the Chandra Guhyatilaka, and the Buddha Samayoga are not Dharma. This is because these three are the main parts of the eighteen root tantras of the Nyingma tradition, and because of these three root tantras, many teachings known as Nyingma arose in Tibet, as the great ones of the past have explained. In particular, if there are those who deny that Phurba is not Dharma, then it has been completely established as pure through the reasoning of the Indian texts of its tantra, and the translations by qualified translators, etc. In particular, even those great ones who do not include other tantras known as Nyingma tantras in the catalogue of the Collection of Tantras have irrefutably established the correctness and completeness of Phurba. For example, as explained in the sword and Buton Rinpoche's History of Buddhism. Having thus positioned the views of others as a plague, the essence of one's own view is that the master of this teaching, the Teacher Shakyamuni Buddha, whether he spoke in the form of detachment or in the form of a universal monarch, is equally supreme. The master Padmasambhava, who attained accomplishment solely through practicing the deity and mantra sequences of that single Buddha, and those of his disciples who gained stability in the two stages and thus attained the ground of accomplishment, in order to subdue the evil spirits and demons who hindered the spread of the holy Dharma in Tibet, and to place those who became vessels of the Vajrayana on the level of vidyadharas, spoke of the deity, mantra, and view sequences that were appropriate to them. The disciples practiced these teachings properly and authentically, and many vidyadharas who attained the ground of accomplishment emerged from them, and relying on the oral transmissions and recorded intentions that were in accordance with this, this pure Dharma known as Nyingma arose. These teachings also fully possess the characteristics of treatises, just as...

Because it possesses the characteristics such as "Whatever is spoken by a fortunate one who is solely devoted to the teachings of the Victorious Ones, without distraction." The treatises spoken by Guru Padmasambhava are no different from the words of the Buddha, because they "accord with the path to liberation and are accepted as the words of a sage." For example, the Five Dharmas of Lord Maitreya, the Abridged Kalachakra Tantra, and its commentary, Vimalaprabha, etc. Furthermore, regarding the nature of Dzogchen, when directly engaging with the ultimate definitive wisdom that is free from actions, a view that does not abide in the realm of conditioned causes and conditions, some Tibetans are surprised and see fault, claiming that it is similar to the Hwashang's view because it abandons practice by saying that there is no need to rely on black and white, cause and effect, or effort. Originally, when the Sugata first turned the Wheel of Dharma, he taught that the cause and effect of virtue and non-virtue are infallible, which was taught in relation to the world and therefore established as provisional meaning. The second and third turnings do not differ in essence in terms of the characteristics of the three doors of liberation, and there is only a difference between profound and most profound in teaching the profound meaning of reality. The meaning of definitive and provisional is also distinguished from the perspective of conditioned and unconditioned, and the content to be expressed is also distinguished from the perspective of more or less, which is recognized and established among scholars. Precisely because of this, for the time being, in the intermediate teachings, all phenomena gathered by consciousness are acknowledged to be empty in their own nature, and when explaining this as definitive meaning, it is free from all that is to be objectified, abandoning all concepts and discriminations, and not focusing on what is to be accepted or rejected. In short, the nature of the unconditioned, which is completely beyond the phenomena of grasping and being grasped, also abides in the nature of the three liberations. Therefore, Dzogchen views samsara and nirvana as equality in the ground, and therefore does not distinguish the differences between cause and effect. In the stage of the path, one does not discriminate anything, so one does not judge the extremes of acceptance and rejection. In the stage of the result, one has the confidence that is free from hope and doubt.
