He is the greatest of the five incarnations of Yarlung. Because the place is Menlung of Yarlung Monastery, it is known by that name. The seat of the second, Chödenpa, is this very monastery ruin now called Chöden. His real name is Gönpo Dorje, and because he had attained great accomplishment, the imprint of his back against the wall has sunk in, and it still remains today. It seems that a large monastic college was built here in the past, as many cloths from the Gyübum (Hundred Thousand Tantras) can be seen. It is said that because he performed medicine practice, even sins and ants and mosquitoes are rare in this place. The guardian deity is very powerful, so it seems that even the monastery ruins are being protected now. The gods and demons are very committed to their vows. The following three are called Kälchenpa, Durtropa, and Wanggyälwa. Among them, the first, Menlungpa Shakya Ö, learned the Sutra and Illusion from Kyi Chökyi Sengé very well. Later, he also listened to Glan Khänpa Sönam Gyäl from Glan Shakya Öpo's son, and composed many texts such as the Khok Dhub of the Guhyagarbha Tantra and the Tika Gyüdön Namngé. His disciple was Sangye Gonglawa of Dakpo. From him, many disciples, lamas, and relatives emerged in Dakpo itself, and he mainly became the lama of Gönjo Dakpo, so he became very prosperous in Kham. Also, Shakya Bumpa, the nephew of Menlungpa, expertly learned the explanation of the Guhyagarbha Tantra. After that, Khänchub Chöpal and his two sons also mastered the explanation of the Guhyagarbha Tantra well. Those lineages of Menlungpa became the lords of the Dharma at the time of the Upper and Lower Tertön. Gyä Yeshe Gönpo, the seat holder of Kyi Chökyi Sengé, also relied on both Kyi and Glan Chögyäl and became proficient in Sutra and Illusion. His nephew, Dorje Gyältsän, went to Sangpu as a young man and expertly studied Pramāṇaviniścaya. After that, he learned the Sutra and Illusion well from his uncle Gyä Yeshe Gönpo, and composed commentaries based on the Spar Khap text, as well as initiation rituals, etc. He taught these to his nephew Lama Tsulgyälwa. Ridongpa Sherab Gyältsän listened to his teachings. He explained them to the aristocratic officials and mantra practitioners in Dakpo, so for a time it flourished in the Dakpo region as well.

Re. Zhang Khawa Sonam Zangpo, a student of Sher Gyal. His student was Lopon Tashi Gyatso. To him, explanations and transmissions were given based on the Nyingtik commentary of Dorje Gyaltsenpa, and he received the Black Phurba (phur pa lha nag) and others from the feet of Gos Zhonnu. Furthermore, the tradition known as the Kham tradition is that the commentary on the Guhyagarbha Tantra, composed by Lopon Nyiwoe Senge, was translated and taught by Lopon Vairochana in the Ordu Jyamchen Monastery in Kham. In particular, the Kathogpa was like the beginning of the early translation teachings becoming completely famous in that area. The Kathogpa is also called Kathogpa Dampa Dewarshegpa. Lama Sharwa Powo Thaye or Sherab Senge, the great master, having manifested the supreme state of enlightenment since beginningless time, for the sake of the ultimate essence of the teachings and the benefit of many disciples, through skillful means and secrets, manifested as the daughter of the lord of the gods, Indra, and during the time of Kashyapa Buddha (Od Srung), took birth as the eldest of the seven daughters of King Kṛka, and after pleasing the Tathagata with countless offerings, in the presence of our teacher Shakyamuni Buddha, became the great Arhat Bharadvaja, and after that, reincarnated as a non-Buddhist pandita who later became a Buddhist, and was born into the royal family of Simhala, and became a monk at Nalanda Monastery with the name Gyalwai Lha. At that time, a non-Buddhist Shiwapa greatly harmed the teachings, so the master first studied that doctrine and brought it under control, and then subdued it through debate and brought it into Buddhism. Also, when debating with some non-Buddhist scholars, Manjushri (འཇམ་དཔལ་དབྱངས་) appeared in the sky in front of them, thus destroying their courage to debate. He taught the Bodhisattvacharyavatara (Byangchub Sempa'i Chöpa la Jugpa), and then went to the south, etc., becoming the great master Shantideva (Zhiwa Lha). Toktsewar, a disciple of Garab Dorje (dga' rab rdo rje), composed inconceivable treatises. In the land of Tibet, from among the Seven Awakened Ones, he became the most excellent Ma Rinchen, and translated and listened to the teachings of the Guhyagarbha Tantra, etc. When he became the king of Varanasi (bā ra ṇā si) in western India, there were lamas, offering panditas, and officials who inserted slander in between.
