After taking the excrement, he called her, hoping to call her up, so he gathered. Sitting down, he gave her the excrement, saying, "Because men want men and women want women, take the excrement." She got angry and went home. There, Little Zur did not ask his father's opinion, did not take provisions from his mother, did not consider his friends' feelings, and went to see Great Zur with a wolfskin cloak. On the way, he met two black horse nomads carrying turquoise and copper, and a Shangpa man carrying armor, and they traveled together. There, Little Zur had nothing to offer but a wolfskin cloak. The other three offered gifts, and the lama said, "See if they are tired of samsara, and give them some tsampa and noodles." The two nomads did not want to eat, the Shangpa man ate a little, and Little Zur ate everything. The lama said, "Leave the wolfskin cloak and the armor, and return the turquoise and copper to the owners." The nomads were unhappy and said, "Returning the gifts is a sign that you will not teach us the Dharma." From that offering onwards, there was slander against the Zurpa Dharma. There, the lama asked Little Zur, "What is your lineage?" Little Zur was worried that if he said he was of the same lineage as the lama, it would cause competition, so he said, "I am a small Zur." Therefore, in Ladakh, that name came to be. The lama knew he was a capable person, so he let him study, and as a result, he became a very talented person. Initially, he was very poor, so he picked up the tormas that the lama had thrown away and ate them like chang. The other monks said, "He smells sour and stinky from the chang, and he doesn't offer the chang to the lama, nor does he give it to his Dharma brothers." The lama said, "Today, let Little Zur go chop wood." Afterwards, Little Zur's hut was cleaned out, and it is said that under a corpse, there was nothing but a bowl of chang. So the lama said, "If Little Zur has no means of livelihood, come to our kitchen." Little Zur said, "I dare not say that the lama's property is dirty, I can only endure hard practice." One day, the lama took a birch bowl that could hold nine bowls and asked him, "Can you give me water to drink?" Little Zur asked for chang, and the lama filled the bowl and gave it to him. The lama said again, "Bring more." He brought it again. The lama asked, "Is there any more?" He said, "There is a little bit left." The lama said, "Now there is none left. If there was more, your merit would be as great as Tibet, but you must serve me."

He said that great merit would arise from this auspicious connection. Then he gave three *khalas* (a unit of capacity), saying that when these were used up, there would be no shortage of supplies. When Zur Chungpa heard this, he exerted himself day and night without distinction in whatever place there was for hearing, contemplating, and meditating. Because he was an emanation body, the expanse of his wisdom burst forth. Inconceivable experiences and realizations arose, but since he did not even have the means to copy texts, Lharjé Zurpoché said to him, "In a place called 'Beneficial Blue House,' there are two wealthy female practitioners, mother and daughter, called Jomo Yumo. You should stay there." I replied, "I will not become a householder." He said, "Do not belittle your thoughts. I know the boundaries of what the Teacher has permitted and forbidden. By using their supplies, you can receive empowerments, copy texts, and listen to all the Dharma without exception. That way, they will also complete their accumulations, and your own purpose will be accomplished. That would be good." There, listening as he said, all desires were fulfilled. He also said, "Now, do not stay there. Gradually transport the texts and other offering implements and come here to me." Having done so, there was nothing that did not succeed. The two of them also said, "Thank you very much." He said, "Do not be discouraged. It seems that you will be able to do something for the benefit of beings. In this degenerate age, you must spread the Buddha's teachings and work for the benefit of many beings. That is also a great way to repay their kindness. If you hide, neither your own benefit nor the benefit of others will be accomplished." There, listening as he said, he realized the guru's intention as it was. Once, there was a stupa in front of the door where Lharjé was staying, and he saw Zur Chungpa circumambulating it. His feet did not touch the ground, but hovered about an elbow's length above it. The guru thought, "This must be an emanation body, it is very wonderful!" Thinking this in his heart, he was very pleased. Similarly, wherever Zur Chungpa went, in the desolate desert, when he was greatly afflicted by the heat, someone would bring him a drink, and when he went to meditate on the top of a deserted mountain, someone would bring him food when he was hungry, and so on. All the wishes he desired were effortlessly accomplished. Thinking, "Now, even if I do something for the benefit of beings, it will be accomplished," at that time, the guru also said, "Now, you should teach."
