The Lord of Death, Yama, spoke thus: Emaho, you who hold the vajra in your hand, when the degenerate age of the end times occurs, when the dignity of the Three Jewels is reviled, when the spiritual friends of the teachings are destroyed, explain the mandala of the essential heart of mantras. If taught to a worthy vessel, it is like the sun rising in the world. If taught to an unworthy vessel, life will be exhausted and withered prematurely. Although there are many distinctions in mantras, the fundamental essence is condensed into five: the essence of body, speech, and mind, and the five of qualities and activities. The four are approaching, accomplishment, and engaging in combining with activity. Constantly count and combine with activity, enjoying hundreds of thousands when combining with activity. Counting is explained as the second root. The last is the essence of activity, also establishing the mantra that combines with activity. The innermost heart of the mind, there are four suns, explained as outer, inner, and secret. These are explained as three threes, nine in total. For the outer fourth sun, eight letters rotate counterclockwise. The inner of the outer, the four hearts combined rotate. The secret rotation of the outer, the four hearts combined rotate clockwise.
