Practice as if whipping fiercely, abide knowing from within. Thus it was said. Glorious Blood-Drinker Samputa. From the Root Tantra, the Third Chapter: Gathering Places and Clans. Then, the glorious Heruka Vajra spoke thus to the assembled retinue: "The lord of my body, speech, and mind, desiring to cultivate the three aspects of body, speech, and mind, having opened the mind with wisdom, with vows of reverence, and with ascetic practices of purity and fear, offer all life, body, limbs, and substances to please the guru, and supplicate for the sake of attaining accomplishment. Those with dull minds and small wisdom will not achieve even if they practice, because by burning both destroyers, there is no other teaching. On a ground that has been thoroughly examined, possessing the four perfections, the ground of the charnel ground is to be thoroughly examined. Having cast the torma of the bhutas, engage in the activities of secret meaning. Conceptualization is an obstacle, conceptualization arises from one's own mind. If one knows the nature of mind to be primordially pure, then there is no such thing as an obstacle from elsewhere. For the purpose of subduing with a harmonious antidote, with the samadhi of the wrathful vajra of hatred, unleash wrathful ones into the sky, drive away, strike, and cut. Transform the place from the previous one, in that place where substances and ground have been examined, the teacher should dwell comfortably on the seat. Measure an extremely equal measure, place drops of self-arisen nectar, cut with a line of Vasudha. Four rows of skull garlands, nine great crescent palaces, indigo, white, yellow, red, and green, should be made extremely red. Make a wheel with eight spokes and eight twos, with four directions, four doors, and an inner courtyard, cut off by constructing the nature of light. Outer objects of desire, places, etc., all the dakinis, charnel grounds, and great places, write as they have been spoken. Know the previous activities. In that mandala of colored powders, the substances that are needed are: The places where the deities arise, each in its own place, writing skull rupas, each with its own garland mantra of letters, together with the light of appearance, the phurbas possessing the faces of the deities, the supports of body, speech, mind, and activity, in vessels with names, mixing grain essence nectar, which is the support for the arising of qualities and accomplishments, the wheel of substances."
