However, if method and wisdom do not coexist, one becomes bound by the bondage of grasping and being grasped. That itself is the complete sequence of entering into the path, etc. Likewise, one should also understand the stages of the path. So it is said. The second is all at once: like the instantaneous accomplishment of a body through miraculous birth, one generates complete recollection. From the instructions on visualizing the deity's form, it is clearly explained how awareness is perfected as a deity. So it is said. To this, Indrabhuti said that the completion stage of the generation stage and the generation stage of the completion stage. In the two stages, generating the deities in this way is said to be the generation stage. From well-abiding in that samadhi, with the desire for the completion stage, the deities become clear in an instant. This is the generation stage of the completion stage, and the completion of the generation stage. So it is said. In short, transforming impure appearances into pure appearances and meditating on the wheel of the mandala is the generation stage. In order to realize that as the wisdom of bliss and emptiness, meditating on the channels, winds, bindus with signs and the samadhi of the suchness without signs is the completion stage. The Omniscient Great One said: The generation stage is to prevent the clinging to the truth of this appearance. The completion stage is to abandon the conceptual thought of clinging to illusion. For whom there is no clinging to the truth of appearance and emptiness, the generation and completion are non-dual, and the nature is pure. As it is said, the former is to subdue the clinging to the truth of the intrinsic characteristics of the container and its contents, and the latter is to purify the slight clinging to meditating on the generation stage and so on as illusory. Second, in the method of meditation, there is the place where one meditates, the conditions upon which one relies to meditate, the actual method of what one meditates on, and the time when one meditates. First, in the Stages of the Path, it says: "Because the person roams like a lion." Therefore, one must abandon retinue and distractions and meditate in a secluded place that is pleasing. As it says in the Garland of Jewels: "Diligently abide in a solitary place at the edge of the world, hide yourself, like the corpse of a dead animal, abide without attachment." And as it says in the Six Dharmas of Meditation: "Many constantly fight, and even two become rivals. Like the bracelet of a young woman, abide alone." So it is said. Second, in the Stages of the Path, it says: "Gather the conditions of the elements and samadhi." Therefore, the conditions of the aggregates

And medicines suitable for the body, etc. As conditions for Samadhi, there should be a Lama or Dharma brother with experience in meditation, etc., as a helpful companion, and instructions that are beneficial for Samadhi, etc., should be gathered. In short, one should practice through the gateway of possessing the ten qualities. What are the ten? According to the instructions of Lhaje Zur Chungwa's "Pointing the Finger" meditation: Offerings are made with faith. The bow of diligence is drawn taut. Samsara is thoroughly exhausted. The root of mind is severed. The Lama is revered as a deity. Instructions are cherished as life. Vows are guarded like a fortress. Distractions are abandoned like poison. Solitude is cultivated like a friend. One should strive to accomplish the fruit of enlightenment with the spirit of a great person. Thus it is said. The third is the two stages of generation and completion. The first is: Focusing on the deity's form, the great mudra, and meditating single-pointedly is the yoga of the deity with conceptualization. So, how to settle the mind? From meditating on the deity's form, there are two stages of meditation methods: common and special. From the two, common and special, the first is: Sit on a comfortable cushion, possessing the seven qualities of Vairocana's posture. Display a consecrated painted image in front. First, offer the eight branches and generate the two minds. Then, gaze steadily at the image of the painted image in front. When a clear appearance arises in the mind, practice single-pointedly calming the mind on that. First, meditate on the deity's form in front. From that, become accustomed to it and then meditate on oneself as the deity. From the former: On the consecrated image, examine it thoroughly and gather the focus. Where the human eye can see, make it very familiar. When the image is clearly seen in the mind in all empty places, that is the measure of clarity in common calming meditation. Gather the focus and look at the object. Become very familiar with it. Thus it is said. From the "Systematic Arrangement": Having placed the consecrated one in front, first prepare by cutting off elaboration. Clearly examine the general and the specific. Think about what it is like in front. When you are very familiar with it, transform the ripened form and make it stable. Thus it is said. The second is: Whether or not to use a painted image, etc., as a support for focus is fine. From the beginning, meditate on oneself as the deity. Regarding that, the Lamrim says: Wisdom
