That is, when Emptiness itself is utterly pure. Enjoying bliss is ripening. Completely transforming is constant. The great purity in all ways is like this: Whatever appears as the basis, whatever is uncorrupted is that itself. Whatever is without a body is utterly pure. Completely perfected is ripening. Whatever arises is constant. Lord of Lanka, for those, what is pure in what place, pure in what direction, and completely utterly pure is called impure. Why is that? Because they desire and make pure what cannot be purified in every way. (Someone) said: Secret Lord, for those, what is pure in what place, pure in what direction, and completely utterly pure, why is it called pure? (The Buddha) said: Lord of Lanka, those are because from what is completely obscured, what is awakened in what place, awakened in what direction, and completely utterly awakened. Lord of Lanka, what cannot be purified in every way is called pure. Why is that? Because for them, there is no cause to be purified. Again, the Lord of Lanka asked: Secret Lord, what is constant but not ripening? What is ripening but not constant? What is both? What is neither? (The Buddha) said: Lord of Lanka, as you asked, these four questions are like this: What is constant but not ripening is that even though it has passed away, it still benefits immeasurable beings in samsara through the blessing of the lotus. What is ripening but not constant is the very early state of the earth. What is both is that which has passed away with remainder. What is neither is utterly pure. Again, the Lord of Lanka asked: Secret Lord, what is their action? What is their body? What is their thought? What is their basis? (The Buddha) said: Lord of Lanka, their action is the action of all Buddhas, which is the constant activity that appears in every way. The body is the body of all Buddhas, which is completely ripened. The thought is the thought of all Buddhas, which is utterly pure. The basis is the source of all Buddhas, which is that itself. Lord of Lanka, they can also be called many, one, one and many, and beyond them. Why is that? Because constant is

Because of the immeasurable variety, it is called many. Maturation is called one because everything is one. Completely pure is called one and many because it is the basis of continuity and maturation. That itself is called beyond them because their arising and dissolving have no decrease or increase. Furthermore, the lord of Lanka asked: Are those secret lords permanent? Or impermanent? Are they existent? Or non-existent? Are they one? Or different? The secret lord replied: Lord of Lanka, as you asked the six questions, it is like this: They are neither permanent nor impermanent. Neither permanent nor impermanent, nor neither permanent nor impermanent. They are also existent, and also non-existent. Both existent and non-existent, nor neither existent nor non-existent. They are also one, and also different. Neither one nor different, nor neither one nor different. They are also liberated from the nature of one and different. Lord of Lanka, why is that? It is like this: unchanging and without antidote, and not clinging to what arises, and being the basis of all, and completely not clinging to the limits, and not being constant, and continuously arising, and sublime thought, and being without substance, and becoming the realm of pure lineage, and transcending the limits and center, and transcending names, and being as it is, and being inconceivable, and being immeasurable, and being the object of individual experience, and being the same in any difference, therefore, it should also be held as permanent, it should also be held as impermanent, it should also be held as existent, it should also be held as non-existent, it should also be held as one, it should also be held as different, it should also be held as liberated from the nature of one and different. Lord of Lanka, in that way, for the sake of taming the trainable beings, the body is not fixed, it should be held as inconceivable. It should also be held as five, it should also be held as four, it should also be held as three, it should also be held as two, it should also be held as one. Certainly, body, speech, mind, qualities, and activities are merely established as names. The body is space, the speech is sound.
