In the Great Chapter, the fifty-sixth chapter, which shows the root of all dharmas, the realm of pure conduct that appears. The ninth volume is complete. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas of inferior bodies, such as the Lord of Lanka, again asked the Lord of Secrets all the questions: Alas, Lord of Secrets, among the ten kinds of dharmas that you have established here, if you hear "nature is not transformed," how should you fully understand it? What is nature? How is it not transformed? Whose nature is that? After asking this, the Lord of Secrets said: Alas, inferior friends, the so-called nature is the unchanging one. The so-called non-transformation is the real one. These are the nature of mantra, and the nature of viewing it, and the nature of not leaving it, and the nature of acting accordingly. Friends, here, the nature of mantra is like this: with a nature like the sky, without discrimination, without thinking. Like the nature of the earth, it is the nature of giving birth to everything. Like the nature of fire, it makes all things disappear. Like the nature of wind, it eliminates the moving dust and the immovable dust. Only like the nature of water, there is no other, gathered in such a nature. Because it is the nature of medicine, it can eradicate the old diseases of samsara. In this way, with the nature of survival, it nourishes all pure survival. Like the nature of cutting off, it cuts off the ocean of suffering. Like the nature of the sun, it illuminates the dark room. Like the nature of Mount Sumeru, it cannot be moved or shaken in any way. Like the nature of the ocean, blessings arise from immobility. Similarly, like the nature of plants, like poison turning into good medicine. Such as these, infinite and supreme, without discrimination, giving birth to everything. Not transformed, not deceived, such is the nature. Friends, those should be known as the nature of mantra, thus listening and analyzing. Friends, what is the nature of viewing it? It is like this: not mistaken, not changed, definitely certain, not attached, not thinking, not timid. For example, from the nature of the sky, clouds and mist and water vapor, and the moon, sun, stars, etc., appear, but

It abides like the sky. In the sky of suchness, Whatever conceptual thoughts of signs arise, The yogi should view it as the nature of reality abiding like the sky. In suchness, which is as it is without alteration, With the distinction of seeing and not seeing, Individually observe the distinctions of views. For the conceptualizer, it is conceptualization itself, For the deluded, it is deluded conceptualization itself, For the one who merely clings to a side, it is a nominal object, For those who understand the side, it appears as illusion. Determining that very thing there, one sees the sky, Abiding like the sky in the sky, It merely appears as the sky itself. Friends, may you know those as the nature of view. Thus, having heard, contemplate with certainty. Friends, what is the nature that does not stray from that? It is like this: In this nature of reality, like the sky, Everything is completely one, Guarding and not guarding, free from bias, Where can the measure of guarding be grasped? The yogi who is like the sky, Guards the vow that is like the sky. If there is no boundary to guard here, then it is bliss, That is what guards everything. Why is everything all things? Because it is determined to be sacred, The act of holding a measure and having a measure declines. For whom, the conceptualizations of guarding and not guarding, Even without those, it is excellent. Such a one who holds the boundary of guarding, Is an illusion, therefore sacred. To that, who would say "guard"? Guarding and not guarding, there are no words, In that nature of reality, the act of accepting and rejecting, Where is it for one who has become sacred? The phenomena of guarding and not guarding, Because they cannot be guarded, they are placed as they are. In the ultimate truth of suchness, Placing the mind as it is, With the vow that cannot be spoken, Bound in a state without a boundary to guard. This sky-like vow without guarding, On the nature of how it appears, Discipline and individual liberation appear separately. For worldly people, punishment is strict, For children, knowing the code of conduct, For adults, it is called discipline, For the unsurpassed supreme, it appears as sacred. Although not moving from the meaning of one, Yet on the face of taming, they are spoken of separately. Possessing suchness is sacred, Transcending that becomes a breach. Guarding one is guarding all, This great sacred vow, Should not be contrary to all, And for whose benefit should it be transformed? Friends, may you know those as the nature of not straying, thus, having heard, contemplate completely. Alas! Friends
