All kinds of appearances are clear, but not to be viewed through understanding. Appearances are not for practice, and knowledge is not for application. They arise from their own nature and subside within it. The result is self-arising and self-subsiding. This is the nature of the mind of Kuntuzangpo (Samantabhadra). All Buddhas arise from me, and all wisdom is generated from me. Before my existence, I am also non-existent. I am both my non-existence and myself. I appear like a mirror, visible to a beautiful woman who looks into it. Mind arises from mind, and mind manifests. From the Great Tantra of the Abundant Jewel, the Second Chapter, which reveals the nature of Kuntuzangpo. Vajrasattva, the gatherer of secret empowerments, asks the teacher of teachers, Kuntuzangpo, about the abode of Kuntuzangmo (Samantabhadri), the essence of Kuntuzangmo, the manifestations of Kuntuzangmo, the symbols representing Kuntuzangmo, the lineages of Kuntuzangmo, the manner of appearance of Kuntuzangmo's body, the manner of appearance of Kuntuzangmo's mind, and the manifestations of Kuntuzangmo's mind. How do these appear different from one another? The teacher of teachers, Kuntuzangpo, replies to Vajrasattva, the gatherer of secret empowerments: The abode of the unborn Kuntuzangmo is such that Kuntuzangmo, the unborn at the base, possesses seven qualities of being unborn. Because her nature abides without birth, the essence of non-birth arises. Because her nature is without arising, the heart essence manifests in every way. Because her nature is without cessation, all kinds of things are clearly visible. Without beginning or end, her nature is spontaneously accomplished. Because the base itself is pure, the essence of purity arises. Because the potential itself is pure, the unborn is completely pure. Because it is empty from the beginning, the heart essence of clear emptiness arises. All is pervasive, because the unborn is empty, it pervades all. In the time of samsara, it is emptiness; in the time of nirvana, it is also emptiness. 'Tu' means without cessation. Because the essence is without cessation, it also serves as the basis for the arising of all things. 'Zang' means without defilement and without increase or decrease. Without beginning or end, it is 'Zang'. 'Mo' means that which causes to give birth, giving birth to wisdom from the expanse. The essence of the unborn Kuntuzangmo is such that from that very spontaneously accomplished unborn state, the Dharmakaya itself, which is unborn, arises. From that very Dharmakaya, which is unborn and without lineage, self-arisen wisdom and awareness

Non-conceptuality arose. From the great expanse of wisdom, clarity, and emptiness, The great emptiness of the mind's essence arose. The self-born, unconditioned essence-body, Liberated from all, is indeed Samantabhadri. The appearance of unborn Samantabhadri, By arising in the unborn realm, Appears as desired. The Buddhas give rise to wisdom, The Bodhisattvas abandon the illusory body, The Aryas give rise to Samadhi, The Pratyekabuddhas perform deeds for beings, The Shravakas also abandon the path of liberation, Abiding in the body of the Buddhas. Abiding on the path, they also attain the path. With peace and wrath, and so forth, Holding the entire mandala without exception. The Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, and Nirmanakaya, Appear as they are. The metaphor for unborn Samantabhadri, Is beyond the metaphor that expresses the unborn, What is to be expressed by mere symbols, The sky is liberated from all, the nature of reality is the sky, Everything can arise, but is not stained by anything. The glory of everything arising, Abides in the manner of the great sky. The lineages of unborn Samantabhadri, In that unborn, the image of the Sugata arises. Many Sugata Victors appear individually, At the time of appearance, the nature is unborn. In the self-born wisdom, clarity, and unborn, The nature of the Dharmadhatu is individually clear. In the mere moment of clarity, wisdom is unborn. In the mind's essence, emptiness, self-clarity, and unborn, The habitual tendencies of the six realms are individually clear. In the mere moment of clarity, the mind's essence is unborn. Unborn, unceasing, primordially self-arisen. The appearance of the body of unborn Samantabhadri, By being self-born and uncompounded, There is no cause, effect, or kinship. By the essence of the realm being unceasing, The body and wisdom appear in various ways. By the power itself arising in many ways, The lineages and Nirmanakayas appear individually. By the essence being unstained, No matter what is done, there is no stain. From those natures of the body, Whatever is examined will appear. Without end of time, it has always existed. Without change, it is spontaneously accomplished. The various mandalas also appear. The nature of the speech of unborn Samantabhadri, The pervasive speech is like the sky, The unconditioned self-born is like the sky itself, Because it pervades everything, it is like the sky.
