The five essences of Dharmata itself, Possessing the nature of five bindus, The naturally pure sky, Neither two nor one, abiding in meaning. Why is it not separate? Devoid of intention, color, and form, In it, that appears, in its essence, Therefore, in it, it is called "that." The sign of wisdom fleeing from the base, The sun sets from the peak of Mount Meru. After the four winds gradually subside, The lord moved by the winds of karma. From the city of the Lord of Death, the demon, The demon's doorkeeper, the one-eyed one, Watches for the arrival or non-arrival of time. Although many, they are all condensed signs. Thus it was said. From the Tantra of the Great Clear Meaning Free from Elaborations, the chapter on Gathering the General Characteristics of the Place of Liberation and Showing the Signs, the Hundred and Tenth. Then again, the Lord of Secrets asked: O Blessed Vajradhara, Whether the body and mind of a person separate or not, How do the differences in signs arise? In response to that question, he said: Listen, Lord of Secrets, you, Whether the body and mind of a person separate or not, I will show you the differences in signs, listen. Thirteen signs of death are shown. Whether the steam of snow dissipates or not, Whether the steam on the face of the sun dissipates or not, If the steam dissipates, the body and mind will separate. The central channel is weakened, and there is no steam. The clarity of a crystal mirror, Observe whether its radiance fades or not. When observed by squeezing the mirror, The loss of radiance, the gathering of the base, is a sign of death. Observe whether the leaves of the wish-fulfilling tree fall or not. If the hair and eyebrows turn inward, the leaves wither. The contraction of the veins inward is a sign of death. Observe whether the sound of the dakinis breaks or not. It is revealed by squeezing both ears. The sound breaks, the strength weakens at the base, it is death. Observe whether the connection between heaven and earth is broken or not. Observe by raising the elbow in front of the eyes. If it is broken, the atoli deteriorates and death occurs. Whether skillful means and wisdom are separated or not, Observe the breath in both nostrils. If the breath is long or short, the pulse is cut off and death occurs. Observe whether the excellent horse mansion collapses or not. If the nostrils wither, the mansion collapses and death occurs. Death occurs due to the weakening of the heart and lungs. Observe whether the ocean of blood dries up or not. Observe the radiance of the cheekbones, and if it weakens, death occurs. All the blood gathers inward. Observe whether the power of reading weakens or not on the tongue. If the tongue stiffens, the tongue veins contract and death occurs. The great gate of the warrior's castle.

Teeth or unclosed lips. When the root of the pulse escapes inward, the lips cannot be closed. Has the black demon risen from the waist of Mount Meru? Fingers joined together, demon claws joined. Observe whether the demon claws are half-closed or not. If half-closed, the heart pulse contracts, hence death. Has the illusory image vanished or not? Observe your own shadow in the form of space. If the formless appearance is reversed, hence death. Does the water of time lie in the riverbed or not? If there is no wandering life-pulse, then death. If such signs of death occur, then the activities of life will be scattered. Thus it is said. From the Tantra of Great Clarity of Meaning, Free from Elaborations, the chapter on extensively showing the signs of death is the one hundred and eleventh. Then again, the Lord of Secrets asked: "O! O! Bhagavan Vajradhara! For a person who has realization and is familiar with practice, how do the appearances of the bardo arise?" In response to that question, he said: "I will show both the general and the specific. Specifically, according to the faculties of superior, middling, and inferior, they will arise in sequence. For those with realization, the general appearance is as follows: When body and mind separate and the three kayas arise, you transcend the four rivers of samsara. These are birth, old age, sickness, and death. You transcend the five great paths of existence. These are the five afflictions of attachment, hatred, etc. The support of the mind is pulled out like a stake, this is the time when consciousness and matter separate. You transcend the great plain of sorrow, this is the suffering of this world. You are separated from the friend born together with you, the co-emergent ignorance is awakened. You are separated from the realm of permanence, the appearance of this world ceases. You are separated from the friend you have been with for a long time, this is the mind of this world. You are separated from the changing intellect, the various conceptions of grasping and being grasped. You are separated from the constant sickness, this is the suffering of samsara. The red thread of time is cut, it is the moment when the end of time is exhausted. It is the time when the pure self-appearance arises, it is the self-face of awareness, one's own wisdom. Because there is no grasping wisdom, you are not deceived by the conditions of appearance. Even though self-appearance arises, it is liberated in its own place, you do not recognize movement, it is transparent. Falling downwards, cutting off life, and not awakening, awareness is held in its own place. Awareness meets the mother and does not return, appearance appears as self-appearance, awareness is without grasping and is not confused. On the spontaneously accomplished three kayas, you do not seek the fruit from elsewhere, it is free from effort and striving. The Sambhogakaya, the
