The Twelfth Chapter, which Establishes All Objects of Knowledge. The true nature of reality is without distinction, The essence of emptiness is unceasing, Whatever diverse appearances may arise, Are merely self-arising, not conventional. The characteristic of granting is uncertain, In emptiness, it is naturally liberated, In the ultimate truth of wisdom beyond elaboration, Appearance and emptiness are shown as two. The meaning of non-dual union, the Middle Way, Is the wisdom free from extremes. The self-power of reality is unceasing, In the state of earth, water, fire, wind, and space, The five great elements, Do not exist as external agents elsewhere. Appearance is in the nature of thought and memory, Merely appearing, there is no substance. As soon as one is separated from thought and memory, No characteristics are perceived in any way. The five elements during sleep, When awake, are empty of characteristics. Not even a particle of dust is established, Though non-existent, there is only the appearance of a dream. The five elements when awake, In a dream, their nature is empty. Not established as true, it is only a dream, Appearance and emptiness are impermanent. Not separate, they are indivisible, one. Sleeping and waking are not two. In one reality, there is conceptualization, If separated from conceptualization, it is emptiness, Emptiness itself is appearance. Because appearance arises in the mind, In the field of the eye, there are various forms. Though appearing, their essence is empty, The essence, the eye's consciousness, Its form is empty of knowledge in relation to form. Appearance and emptiness, union, from the beginning, Exist like a reflection in a mirror. Without form, there is also no seer, Seeing form is the essence itself. Indivisible, one, free from elaboration. Likewise, the sounds of the ear, Like a musical instrument, are empty when heard. The smell of the nose is like smoke, The appearance of sensation is empty in essence. The taste of the tongue is an illusion, Like food, it is empty merely by tasting. The touch of the body is like space, Merely touching, it appears empty. All phenomena of the mind, Various kinds of pleasure, pain, good, and bad, Like a dream, are empty through memory. When essence, memory, and emptiness are simultaneous, There is no need to meditate on emptiness. Essence itself is emptiness, Form is empty by the essence of form. Sound, smell, taste, touch, and phenomena, Each is empty by its own essence. Likewise, the grasping door and object, The six consciousnesses, Are empty in essence, non-dual with that. Consciousness
