Sa, Vajrasattva asked: What is the great universal ground? After asking this, he further taught: Hey hey, listen, what is called the universal ground, I will show you. In the beginning, there were no names for Buddha and sentient beings. Because the Buddha arises from conceptual thought. Conceptual thought also does not err in its own nature. At that time, at that moment, it is called the Dharmadhatu. It is called the basis of the Buddha. It is called the source of sentient beings and Buddhas. It is also called the basis of delusion. It is also called the mother who gives rise to everything. It is called the basis of all. It is called the womb of sentient beings' delusion. The six realms are absent. The five elements are absent. The five poisons are absent. The five gates are absent. The ten attachments and aversions are absent. The five aggregates are absent. The path is absent. Afflictions are absent. Obscurations are absent. Purification is absent. Afflictions are absent. Purity is absent. Buddha is absent. Dharma is absent. Sangha is absent. Enemy is absent. Symbol is absent. Letter is absent. Light is absent. The five bodies are absent. The five wisdoms are absent. The five eyes are absent. The five clairvoyances are absent. The five families are absent. The five mothers are absent. Demon is absent. God is absent. Attainment is absent. Non-attainment is absent. Realization is absent. Non-realization is absent. Sun and moon are absent. Even when the Buddha appears, it is absent from that. At that time, it is called delusion. Mother is the root, that is its nature. Spontaneously accomplished. It is like camphor. The measure is not lacking. Spontaneously accomplished. Universally appearing. It does not abide in any extreme. Thus he spoke. The secret is also in the Treasure Tantra, the second chapter, Establishing the Basis. Then, again, the noble one, Radiating Light, asked: If such things do not exist, how do the three realms, Manu Buddha, exist? He replied: For example, a person who holds a jewel does not have turquoise, gold, or the five kinds of jewels, but everything arises from that jewel. Likewise, everything arises from the universal ground through delusion. How does it arise through delusion? He replied: That basis has five kinds of gates. The gate of spontaneous accomplishment without obstruction is like camphor. Everything arises like a precious jewel. The sharp gate is like a fire crystal. The dull gate is like a water crystal. Hermaphrodite.
