Non-application, and, dullness, agitation, clinging, thoroughness, and the faults of distraction, and, the six kinds of distractions, namely, acting within one's own nature and characteristics, and, acting towards external objects, the distractions of bad states. Also, the obstacles that interrupt, laziness, many activities, excitement and distraction, dullness, great desire, sleep and much hope, great doubt, hesitation, drawing inward and scattering outward, delighting in enjoyment and mental events, delighting in noise and confusion of mind. The obscurations intentionally created are, the mind not moving and thinking of clarity, thinking of happiness and thinking of suffering, arising and clarifying and extracting, self-grasping, looking at others, especially killing, being proud of one's own view and meditation. These are destroyed by the effort of the antidote. In meditating with and without signs, the dimness is cut off and the body size changes, the posture changes and the shape changes, the number changes, the sitting posture changes, the color, the invisible sequence disappears. The faults of incompleteness and the nine, the faults are corrected and stabilized. The eight activities of abandoning general faults, individual faults are destroyed by their respective antidotes. With the six common instructions, the faults are corrected and stabilized. Thus it is said. From the latter part of the Tantra of Various Instructions Wheel, the chapter that shows the identification and destruction of the faults of meditation, which is the seventh. Then, the Teacher Garab Dorje, spoke to the retinue of Manjushrimitra and others: The yogi who relies on signs, even if he meditates for a long time correcting faults, in this way, obtaining clarity is stable for a long time. Recitations are divided into periods, internally periods are counted by breaths, externally they are counted by sticks, shadows are counted by numbers, in that one full day and night, the periods are divided into eight, equally divided into four and four is, when the length of day and night are equal. The periods that have length are, if the day is long then the day, the periods should be taken. If the night is long then the night, the periods should be counted more. The reason why the number of periods is needed is, the elements are not disturbed and the amount of meditation is grasped, the mind is not disturbed and the samadhi is increased. Seven days and five days and three days, gradually longer and longer half a month, staying in the middle of the month is ability. Not suitable at the Lama's presence.

Should be practiced. In short, no matter what meditation session is indicated, one should not be weary, be moderate, not generate any discriminating thoughts, be clear and unwavering, and maintain it for a moment. Gradually lengthen it with just the mind, lengthen it. One-third, one-half of the four sessions, as well as long sessions, days and nights, months, years, and kalpas, should be lengthened until it is not stable. After it is stable, self-arisen wisdom will appear. Thus it is said. From the latter part of the Various Instructions Wheel Tantra, the eighth chapter, which is about holding the meditation session. Then, the teacher Garab Dorje again said to the retinue of Manjushrimitra and others: The special vows of meditation are, for the guru who indicates the instructions, to have uninterrupted longing, to rely on what is in accordance with samadhi, and to abandon what is not. In the four behaviors of going, staying, sitting, and lying down, do not let samadhi disappear, the mind should not be distracted, and ultimately realize, the samadhi that is practiced should be clear. Thus realized, after habituation, wisdom will appear. Thus it is said. From the latter part of the Various Instructions Wheel Tantra, the ninth chapter, which is about the vows of meditation. Then, the teacher Garab Dorje again said to the retinue of Manjushrimitra and others: With the great intellect of applying meaning, from the beginning, meditate on the non-dual body. If you can repeat the meditation on the deity, then meditate, stabilize the self that is meditated upon. Appear like a water moon or a rainbow. After it is stable, examine yourself, where did these originally come from? What is their nature now? What will they become in the future, examine their history. Originally, they did not come from anywhere, like water freezing into ice, or gold and silver being cast into statues. My mind, the eight consciousness aggregates, also appear as the nature of the five wisdoms. These five are the self-arisen wisdom itself. The self-mind appears as the nature of the fruit. It does not come from elsewhere, nor does it go anywhere. Whatever miracles of wisdom appear, what appears is the wisdom body. Mind itself is not truly existent because of appearance. The unconditioned appears as the conditioned. The nature of abiding in this way also appears as the mind thinks. Whatever appears is self-appearance, therefore there is nothing for others, it does not come from elsewhere, nor is there anywhere to put it. Whatever you meditate on, you should know the principle of the rainbow, and meditate in clarity without discrimination. Or know the principle of the water moon, appearing without self-nature.
