English
Should not be transgressed. Fish meat that has not been caught with a golden hook should never be eaten. In empty, angry places in the forest, yogis should not regard it as their eye. Herbs mixed by a mother, do not hesitate to interrupt their use. The tarnish of the illusory mirror's appearance should always be wiped and looked at. Drinking poisonous bees and with a merchant's mind, walking and sleeping should not be done, light a lamp. When confused about vows, with asceticism that reverses cause and effect, liberation will not be attained, and one will fall into samsara. Like trying to squeeze oil from sand, now listen to the essence of gathering. Those who believe in utter annihilation, take the absence of color and form as the basis of annihilation. Mistaking that there is no cause and effect before and after, slandering will cause one to fall into the great hell. Do not give to annihilation, it exists in awareness. Therefore, since the base is without error, it abides in the realm of self-arisen wisdom. Now listen to the essence of samsara again. All phenomena gathered by the aggregates, all arise from the beginning from emptiness, suddenly a slight dewdrop, subtle and coarse, arises. From that, a subtle part of mind and consciousness arises. It arises from causes and conditions, even if it arises, it arises from the four elements. If there is no cause and effect of karma, the five elements will dissolve on their own, like a fire extinguished, ashes carried away by the wind. Now listen to the essence of samsara again. The heretics who believe in the base of both are the views of the Vedic speakers. The awareness of one's own mind is not prophesied. From an uncertain base, they want to not prevent any appearance. Like a madman possessed by a demon. The result of that is certain, because the root of the mind is not known, like the darkness of the great elements. The rays of the sun of compassion are cut off. There is no doubt about the fruit of hell. From the tantra of the Great Perfection, the gathering of all definitive meanings, the wisdom equal to space, the ninth chapter, which teaches the ways of delusion of the heretics. Then, to the assembled gatherings, the order of the vehicles was taught. The base is that essence of the nature body. Like a mirror as a similar example, forms and reflections, the nine vehicles arose in order. Now listen, Vajrasattva. The meaning of that is to distinguish, first the view of the Hearers, the Sutra school and the Vaibhashika, the person is without self, the Dharma has self. Because they grasp the object as a real thing, they err. Now listen, assembly of Bodhisattvas. The subtle and coarse appearances are the base of the object. There is grasping of self in the Dharma. The view of the Mind-Only school is that there are both appearance and mind. External objects do not exist, they merge into the mind. Because they grasp the mind as true, they err. Now listen again, great Bodhisattva. The view of the Madhyamaka school is that both mind and appearance are not true, but emptiness. Because they cling to emptiness, they err. Now listen again, great Bodhisattva. The view of the Yogis is that appearance and emptiness are inseparable, non-dual, the view of being pure from the beginning. Because they are stained by impure appearances, they err. Now listen again, great Bodhisattva. The view of Kriya Yoga is that there are both inner and outer. They believe that inner and outer should be purified. Because they are stained by impure appearances, they err. Now listen again, great Bodhisattva. The view of Upa Yoga is that inner and outer are inseparable, non-dual, and that great purity should be attained. Because they are stained by the mind of attainment, they err. Now listen again, great Bodhisattva. The view of the Yogis is that inner and outer are inseparable, non-dual, and that spontaneous accomplishment should be attained. Because they are stained by the mind of attainment, they err. Now listen again, great Bodhisattva. The view of Maha Yoga is that all perfect Buddhas are seen as being accomplished from the beginning. Because they are stained by unaccomplished appearances, they err. Now listen again, great Bodhisattva. The view of Anu Yoga is that all appearances and existences are seen as self-appearances, pure from the beginning. Because they are stained by impure appearances, they err. Now listen again, great Bodhisattva. The view of Ati Yoga is that all appearances and existences are seen as self-appearances, perfect from the beginning. Because they are stained by imperfect appearances, they err. Thus, all nine vehicles are included in this appearance. This appearance is the basis of everything. Therefore, only accomplish this appearance. Abandon all other efforts, and liberation is attained by leaving the appearance in its own state. From the tantra of the Great Perfection, the gathering of all definitive meanings, the wisdom equal to space, the tenth chapter, which teaches the order of the vehicles. Then, to the assembled gatherings, the order of practice was taught. First, practice appearance as illusion. Then, practice appearance as mind. Then, practice mind as emptiness. Then, practice emptiness as wisdom. Then, practice wisdom as spontaneous accomplishment. Then, leave spontaneous accomplishment in its own state. Then, liberation is attained by leaving it in its own state. Practicing appearance as illusion means that all appearances are illusion, and practice by comparing examples and meanings. Practicing appearance as mind means that all appearances are mind, and practice by illuminating the nature of mind. Practicing mind as emptiness means that mind is great emptiness, and practice by realizing the nature of emptiness.
