The powers arising from the element of earth are six: the eye faculty, which grasps the gross, fundamental element; the ear faculty, which grasps the moving element of wind; the nose faculty, which grasps the gathering element of water; the tongue faculty, which grasps the ripening element of fire; the mind faculty, which grasps the pervasive element of space; and the body faculty, which grasps the element of various aggregates. The powers arising from the element of wisdom, the powers arising from the element of inner awareness, are six: the power of faith, which is the mind's complete suffering; the power of diligence, which is the skill of wisdom arising from the mind's complete sharpness; the power of mindfulness, which is the uninterrupted holding of the meaning of words, the samadhi of meditation; the power of approaching awareness and acceptance, which is the manifestation of the nature of emptiness; the power of wisdom, which is the understanding and acceptance of the meaning of the view; and the power of complete pacification of the mind, which generates the meaning of non-conceptualization, the self-purified power. There are two kinds of sources: the source of what is grasped, which is internal; and the source of what grasps, which is external. The non-conceptual sage again requested: "O, O Blessed One, what is the source of what is grasped? What is the source of what grasps? I do not understand these. Please, Blessed One, speak to me." Then the teacher said: "Great hero, listen well. To think of form as mind, to think of sound as mind, to think of smell as mind, to think of taste as mind, to think of dharma as mind, to think of touch as mind, the source of what is grasped by the eye, the source of what is grasped by the ear, the source of what is grasped by the nose, the source of what is grasped by the tongue, the source of what is grasped by the mind, the source of what is grasped by the body, these are twelve. The sources of what grasps are twelve: numbers and names, the aggregate of form, colors such as white and red, shapes, the aggregates that grasp words, the various aggregates of terms, the aggregates of signs, visible and invisible, dependent origination, the Hearers who believe in a self, permanence, or annihilation, to think of all as the mind of a solitary Buddha, the causes and conditions similar to the aggregates of appropriation, and to think of the elements as

The realm of earth! There are two realms: the realm of things and the realm of emptiness. Again, the Inconceivable Intelligence asked: Ah! Ah! Blessed One, what is the realm of things? What are the realms of emptiness? Please tell me. Then the Blessed One said: Inconceivable Intelligence, listen carefully! The realm of things is these: appearing as six realms, namely form, sound, smell, taste, dharma, and touch, and all the great elements appearing as one and four, and the conditions for entering each appearing as faith and so on. The realm of emptiness is all of emptiness itself, and the consciousness that is free from clinging to views of existence and non-existence, permanence and annihilation, etc. There are two non-realms: those who have transcended extremes, and those who have transcended views of existence and non-existence. Again, the Inconceivable Intelligence asked: Ah! Ah! Blessed One, what does it mean to transcend extremes? What does it mean to transcend the non-realm of views? Please tell me. Then the Teacher again taught: Great Inconceivable Intelligence, listen carefully! What is called transcending extremes is not clinging to things as self. Again he asked: What does it mean not to cling to things as self? He taught: All dharmas are unconditioned dharmas. Again he asked: What does it mean to say that all dharmas are unconditioned dharmas? He taught: That means knowing that all dharmas return to one. Again he asked: What does it mean to know that they return to one? He taught: That is the closing of the door of arising sensations. Again he asked: What does it mean to close the door of arising sensations? That is self-luminous nature. Again he asked: What is self-luminous nature? He taught: That is all realms are completely pure. Again he asked: What does it mean to say that all realms are completely pure? He taught: That is knowing the characteristic of the exhaustion of all dharmas. Again he asked: Ah! Ah! Blessed One, in that case, what does it mean to transcend views? He taught: Transcending views means unspeakable. Again he asked: What is that? He taught: That is transcending all conditions. Again he asked: What is it that is liberated from all conditions? He taught: That is not distinguishing any extreme. Again he asked: What does it mean not to distinguish any extreme? He taught: That is
