Thus it was said. From the Secret General Tantra, the eighteenth chapter, which teaches samadhi. Then, Vajrasattva asked the great secret lord, "What is the meaning of the conduct of a Vajra hero?" The great secret lord said: Unfabricated naturalness is the supreme meaning. Abandoning actions, thoughts are without artifice. Not made, but arising spontaneously. Practicing in the ultimate meaning. The nature like the sky is the practice of unfabricated naturalness. The nature like the sun-god is the practice of non-attachment and non-craving. The nature like the ocean is the practice of depth and vastness. The nature like the earth is the practice of producing all things. The nature like a jewel is the practice of producing what is needed and desired. The nature like a lion is the practice of fearlessness. The nature of having confidence is the practice of having no hope or fear. The nature like a lotus is the practice of being unstained. The nature like a ti-bya bird is the practice of non-attachment. The nature like an elephant is the practice of destroying the army of demons. The nature of pure and stainless is the practice of immutability. The nature of being primordially pure is to abide in the nature of non-duality. Because there is no duality from the beginning, it does not depend on the actions of body and speech. The nature of mind is primordially pure, and one practices in the meaning of its essence. Keeping vows and commitments, even if practiced, will not become a bondage, and even if not practiced, there is no fault. The practice of the Great Perfection is not to obstruct the self-arisen, nor is it to be accomplished by effort. Self-appearance is unfabricated, the ornament of the mind. Thus it was said. From the Secret General Tantra, the nineteenth chapter, which teaches conduct. Then, Vajrasattva asked the great secret lord, "What is the self-mastery of awareness?" The great secret lord said: Gaining self-mastery over the mind is the best of all powers, and there is no need to obtain empowerment from the ground up. The king of space awareness is the best of empowerments, the essence of all empowerments. Abiding in the mind of the holy one who is free from actions, transcending the realm of conceptual thought. The supreme self-mastery abides in the mind, not depending on any objects. Awareness pervades, the empowerment of Brahma. The universal reign is the method of empowerment. Not falling into the extremes of duality, without separation.
