From the Tantra of Our Union, the Second Chapter, which explains the reality of the basis of things. Then, Vajrasattva asked Kuntuzangpo: How do the sentient beings of the three realms of samsara, and the outer and inner vessels and contents, become confused? Please explain to the assembled retinue. After this request, the Teacher spoke to the retinue as follows: Because of not realizing the essence, the nameless, unspeakable, and unchanging, from the self-force of the knowledge of the branches and skills, I will explain the way in which sentient beings who have not realized become confused. Vajrasattva, please respectfully keep it in mind. From the unborn, uncreated, primordial, and eternally existent, previously, The nature abiding in the basic place abides. That itself becomes the initial basis. That itself becomes the basis of nothingness. From that basis of nothingness, that itself becomes the nameless basis. Because the nameless nature is not known, it becomes the basis of non-differentiation. That itself is confused as the basis of movement. The nature of movement abides in everything. That itself is confused as the basis of pervasiveness. From that, the primordial wind, which supports the basis, moves without hesitation. That itself is confused as the wind abiding in everything. That itself is confused as sudden and dazed. Confused as loose and scattered. Confused as slight sensations. That itself becomes a slight movement. From that, confused as the state of rays. Because the rays act as the basis of everything, dwelling there, all bases and universality arise. Acting as the mother base of all phenomena and characteristics. Confused as the great expanse of the nature of reality without a basis. Acting as the root of confusion for all phenomena. From that self-arisen wisdom, because the branch skill appearances radiate rays, from movement and non-movement, extremely subtle rays move, the nature of the rays, without obstruction, is confused as five lights. From that, confused as the nature of arising. From the nature of the arising light, confused as the branches of branch skill appearances. Because there was no previous movement, only a slight movement, from that, confused as the moving wind. From that, confused as the clear consciousness. Because the thought of happiness and the thought of unhappiness arise, that itself is confused as the two, feeling and knowing. Because there is feeling and knowing, from movement and non-movement, it becomes the three minds. From the moving rays, knowledge arises. Not grasping one's own ground, accompanied by the wind of cutting, the names of yes and no arise. Not seeing yes, confused as no. Not knowing yes, knowing no. Therefore, confused as the darkness of not knowing. The moving wind

From the cause of ignorance, Obstructed by the darkness of veils, With the manifestation of self-arisen wisdom as the condition, The fruit of the gate of delusion of ignorance ripens. Wisdom is mistaken for mind and heart, Thereupon, the three minds are successively mistaken. Wisdom, in all seeking, Flows in all directions. Mistaken for the mind that seeks everywhere, The characteristic of mind is flowing, The mind is uneasy without support, Flickering, wavering, and unsteady. Empty and hollow, without support, Dualistic thoughts of "is it?" or "is it not?" arise. Mistaken for the mind that establishes certainty, Thinking, "Is there nothing other than me?" From that, clarity arises in the heart. The nature of clarity has five aspects, Clear, unmoving, uninterrupted, Unceasing, unchanging, mistaken for five. Mistaken for the mind that determines, Thereupon, mistaken for the form of wisdom, Thereupon, mistaken for the form of mind, From that, mind itself is mistaken for form, From that, mistaken for the form of light, From that, five phenomena arise, From that, mistaken for five afflictions, From that, mistaken for five elements, From that, mistaken for five colors, From that, mistaken for five appearances, From that, mistaken for five essences, From that, mistaken for five faculties, From that, mistaken for five consciousnesses, From that, mistaken for five limbs, From that, mistaken for five objects, five classes. That light form is in consciousness, Each sees and perceives according to their own habitual tendencies, Each sees good and bad in their own body. Some see large, some see small, Some see long, some see short, Some see round, some see oblong. Due to seeing, mistaken for their own form. This is how light form knowledge is mistaken. Outer and inner containers and contents, non-existent yet appearing, The five elements, non-existent yet appearing, The five afflictions, non-existent yet appearing, The five faculties, non-existent yet appearing, The five objects of desire, non-existent yet appearing, The five aggregates, non-existent yet appearing, The five colors, non-existent yet appearing, The differences in shape, non-existent yet appearing, Male, female, and neuter, non-existent yet appearing, Directions and boundaries, non-existent yet appearing as things, Day and night, non-existent yet appearing as things, The sun, moon, planets, and stars, non-existent yet appearing, The six realms of beings, non-existent yet appearing, Classes
