The empowerment instruction says: Speaking one's own secrets to oneself, knowing oneself, one hears the secrets, knowing one, one knows all. Equality is so wondrous! In existence, it is inherently equal in existence; in non-existence, it is inherently equal in non-existence; in bliss, it is inherently equal in bliss; in falsehood, it is inherently equal in falsehood; in emptiness, it is inherently equal in emptiness; in reality, it is inherently equal in reality. Knowing equality is to have received the secret empowerment. The empowerment of words shows selflessness. If ego and self remain, one will always be in samsara. Selflessness, being separated from a corpse, one word without words is the supreme of empowerment. No self, no ego, no appearance. Having said this, the Vidyadhara Gewa Tong, the first practitioners gathered in the retinue, and those of the eight vehicles fainted and fell to the ground. Some wept and lamented, some were frightened and trembled and then slandered, some lost faith and spoke unpleasant words, some were discouraged and felt that what they had done was meaningless, alas, alas, the secret lord Vajra did not speak. Those with doubts said that the Tirthikas were true. Then, in order to make those retinues truly believe, Vajrapani summoned and gathered them, and said this: Gathered ones, doubts should be cut off. Meet the face of Vajrasattva, and you will come to meet the Dharmakaya. The retinues gathered again, and offered circumambulation and offerings to Vajrasattva, and then sat down. From the Tantra of the Supreme King of Empowerment, the fifteenth chapter: Not Believing in the Secret Nature of Reality. Then, Vajrapani asked Vajradhara this: Alas, alas, Supreme Vajrasattva, are secret mantras and secrets equal or not equal? Do ego and self-sovereignty exist or not? Is the Dharmakaya, which is unreal, true or false? Are habitual tendencies separated from the corpse or not? Having asked this, Vajrasattva replied: Listen, all you powerful Vajra retinue. The extent of the Dharmata Dharmakaya is not understood as equality. In equality there is no duality. For example, a thing that is a phenomenon is one. The outer pillar and vase, for example, this thing like a vajra, does it exist by name or by form? Does it exist by symbol or by action? Does it exist by aggregation or by separation? Does it exist by color?

Is it by shape? Is it by thought? Or by what? All the retinue of the Vajra holders, since it exists by the name of Vajra, what is the Vajra that is called by name? If the form is Vajra, what Vajra is the form that appears? If it is the aggregation that is Vajra, are all sentient beings Vajra? If the color is Vajra, are white, red, and so on Vajra? If the shape is Vajra, are round and so on Vajra? If the thought is Vajra, are all wishes Vajra? Thus, it is not caused by causes. What does the name Vajra refer to? Listen, all those who give rise to conceptual thoughts, for example, this Vajra as a phenomenon, exists by name, certainly so. It exists by form, like a broken eggshell. It exists by symbol, as a phenomenon. It exists by action, possessing seven qualities. It exists by aggregation, through separation. It exists by color, through pacifying and increasing. It exists by shape, likewise. It exists by thought, as the actual phenomenon. Thus, it exists through nine ways, all appearances and existences are Vajra. There is nothing that has not become Vajra. Therefore, this symbol of Vajra, if it is, is inherently equal in being. If it is not, it is inherently equal in not being. If the phenomenon exists, it is inherently equal in existence. If it does not exist, it is inherently equal in non-existence. If it is true, it is inherently equal in truth. If it is false, it is inherently equal in falsehood. If it is empty, it is inherently equal in emptiness. If it is substantial, it is inherently equal in substance. If it appears, it is equal in appearance, it is equality itself. Equality is like the sky, there is no separation. For example, the shape of gold, the taste of water, the supreme poison Hala burning, and the supreme medicine white camphor. Medicine and poison, both are equal. Thus it is said. In the Tantra of the Supreme King, the equality of Dharma-nature is the sixteenth chapter, the chapter of Dharma-kaya. Then, Vajrapani supplicated thus: "Alas! Alas! Great Vajrasattva, do I and my appearances and so on exist or not? Is the appearance as a phenomenon true or false? Where does non-virtue exist? Or does it not exist?" Vajrasattva replied: "Listen, all you Vajra holders and so on, liberate yourselves from the corpse of selflessness, you retinue! I and appearance are not dual. Without me, where does the one me reside? Without appearance, to whom is appearance true? Where do the phenomena as phenomena gather? Virtue and non-virtue are equality itself. Without me, without self, what are I and self? Who possesses I and self and wanders?"
