The rules for 'ka' are the same. The limits of attainment are as mentioned above. Secondly, the ultimate bodhicitta is the non-conceptual wisdom of the path of seeing. During the stages of accumulation and preparation, there is no actual ultimate bodhicitta. That is to say, in the Sutra path, in the 'Abandoning and Perfecting Mudra,' it says, 'The unsurpassed ultimate bodhicitta.' This is like a vow. In the Mantra path, if it is said that there is also taking ultimate bodhicitta based on rituals, that is not the ultimate bodhicitta, but rather arranging the interdependent origination for the ultimate bodhicitta to arise eventually. In short, conventional bodhicitta relies on rituals. Ultimate bodhicitta arises from the power of meditation. In the meantime, regarding the method of guarding the vows without deterioration, it is not enough to merely obtain them; the essential point is the precepts for practice. That is, the opposing factors to bodhicitta are the eighteen root downfalls and eighty coarse transgressions, divided into two categories. Among them, in the two traditions of the profound view lineage and the vast conduct lineage, here in the profound view lineage, following the Sutra of the Essence of Space, according to the practice of Nagarjuna, Aryadeva, Shantideva, and their followers, the eighteen root downfalls are: guarding against deterioration in the meantime, etc., shown by five shlokas and one verse. First, there are three types of Bodhisattva's ethics: the ethics of restraining negativity, the ethics of gathering virtue, and the ethics of working for the benefit of sentient beings. The essence is one ethics. Distinguish the terms for the three aspects of reversal. For the benefit of sentient beings, guarding against and restraining transgressions and coarse transgressions in one's own mind-stream, and gathering all virtues into one's own mind-stream, all three are complete. If distinguishing the ethics of restraining negativity, there are fourteen items from the three classes of king, minister, and commoner. Stealing the property of the Three Jewels, abandoning the Dharma, punishing and expelling monks who have ethics and those who are immoral, the five inexpiable sins, and wrong views, these are the five of the king. Stealing property, etc., four, and a village with one household, a region with four castes, a city with eighteen crafts, a town gathering some commerce, and a large area like Champaka, i.e., a rural area, acting as a military leader in these places and destroying, killing, destroying houses, etc., these are the five of the minister. Teaching emptiness to someone who has not trained their mind, causing them to have doubts.

That is aspiring to the status of Hearers and Solitary Realizers: causing a person who has generated the mind of perfect enlightenment to enter an inferior path; abandoning the path of the Hearer Vehicle and studying the Great Vehicle. Holding and proclaiming that the path of Hearers and Solitary Realizers cannot counteract the three poisons; praising oneself and disparaging others out of jealousy; selling oneself as a false superior human being with virtues for the sake of material gain and the respect of bedding; and, like a local king, sowing discord between two monks who have entered this Dharma, causing them to quarrel. Saying to that monk, "If you do not offer tribute to your king, he will kill you," and stealing something like the property of the Three Jewels from him and giving it to another; and giving the implements of renunciation and meditation to those who read, listen, and contemplate; and enacting evil laws that obstruct the samadhi of meditators, etc., these are definitely the first or similar of the eight root downfalls. Those are just examples using a king as a reference, but in reality, all people, such as kings, ministers, commoners, etc., will definitely commit these root downfalls, so everyone must learn in this way and exhort others. Furthermore, if one abandons the mind of aspiration and engagement and generates the mind of Hearers and Solitary Realizers, there are two root downfalls. That is, when vowing to study the path of the Bodhisattva, one establishes the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas as witnesses. The beings pervading space promise to bestow temporary and ultimate supreme happiness, so violating the vow is twenty root downfalls. As stated in the sutra of great secret skillful means, in reality, even if one does not study any of the six perfections, the root downfall of abandoning the training will occur, as stated in the *Ratnakuta Sutra*. In total, there are twenty root downfalls. In the category of misdeeds, there are eighty branch misdeeds, as stated in the *Compendium of Trainings*: abandoning happiness and suffering has twenty-four, abandoning practice has sixteen. Differentiating from these two, there are eighty. Second, in the tradition of the Great Conduct Lineage of the Bodhisattva Asanga, there are two types of trainings: the training of aspiration and the training of engagement. First, there are five trainings of aspiration: in order not to lose the mind of aspiration, not abandoning sentient beings; in order not to degenerate the Bodhisattva mind, remembering the benefits; in order to increase the power of the Bodhicitta, accumulating the two accumulations; Bodhi
