A Commentary on the Section on the Precepts Against Misdeeds in the Bodhisattva Chapter of the Three Vows. A Commentary on the Section on the Precepts Against Misdeeds in the Bodhisattva Chapter of the Three Vows. A Commentary on the Section on the Precepts Against Misdeeds in the Bodhisattva Chapter of the Three Vows. Third, in this treatise of the Bodhisattva Pitaka, first, the introduction is explained, which includes three methods: how to obtain vows for those who have not yet obtained them, how to protect and maintain vows for those who have obtained them, and how to remedy vows if they are broken. The introduction also includes: the way the teacher Buddha taught, the way the followers propagated, the nature of the vows, and the four divisions. The first is the meaning of the three lines beginning with "Auspicious Aeon of Beings": "Auspicious Aeon" refers to the aeon of time, although there are aeons of place and time, etc. Here, it refers to the aeon of time, where each of the four phases of formation, abiding, destruction, and emptiness of the container and its contents has twenty intermediate aeons, so eighty intermediate aeons make one great aeon. A great aeon is divided into two: a bright aeon and a dark aeon. Previously, when the gods of the Pure Abode realms looked down and saw that this three-thousandfold world was empty and had become a great water environment, they saw a thousand flowers blooming, so at that time the gods named it the Auspicious Aeon. "Beings" refers to sentient beings of the six realms. "Guide" means that they are guides because they lead beings out of their respective sufferings. "Victor" means that each being relies on the armor of the Victor to overcome the non-virtuous deeds of body and speech, and there is no need to protect against the misdeeds of the Buddha's body, speech, and mind, so they are Victors. "Great" means that they are far superior to the ascetic Victors of external deities, so they are the Great Ones, the perfect teachers. He first turned the wheel of the Dharma of the Four Noble Truths, and in the middle, he turned the wheel of the Dharma of No Characteristics, showing the perfection of the place in places such as Vulture Peak and the Thirty-three Heavens of Vaisali. He also showed the perfection of the retinue, which included uncertain retinues such as gods, nagas, gandharvas, humans, and other Bodhisattva lineage retinues. The "Extremely Extensive Pitaka" refers to the profound and vast intermediate Dharma wheel, which includes all phenomena encompassed by samsara and nirvana, all of which are emptiness without inherent existence.

That (place) was established, and the final teaching, all dharmas were established through the three modes of parikalpita, paratantra, and parinispanna. Immeasurable means beyond the measure of ordinary beings' minds. For example, it is said that the elephant king of Indra, Rabten, could carry a birch tree on which each dharma skandha was written, and four thousand such dharma skandhas were mentioned. Secondly, the meaning of the five lines of the Manjushri Compilation of Teachings is that all the teachings of the Buddha Shakyamuni were absorbed into the heart of the noble Manjushri. He was established through the six treatises of the Madhyamika collections spoken by the protector Nagarjuna, who resides on the Joyful Ground of the Path of Seeing. These were well propagated by the bodhisattva Shantideva, the teacher Lekdenje, Sangye Kyong, etc., and are the tradition of profound view. The Bodhisattva Maitreya made a compilation of the teachings and taught them in Tushita through the Five Treatises of Maitreya, etc. These were explained by Asanga, Vasubandhu, and others, and were made to flourish in Jambudvipa. This was also propagated through the kindness of Lha-chig Dipamkara, and is the tradition of vast conduct. The tradition of the victorious Wangpo Chime Tsochye Dorje Padmasambhava is also in accordance with the teacher Nagarjuna. Thirdly, the meaning of the three lines, such as the essence of love and compassion, is that the essence of the vows that generate this supreme and precious Bodhicitta is love, which desires all sentient beings to have happiness, and compassion, which desires to be free from suffering, is an indispensable basis for the Bodhisattva vows. Therefore, the essence of the vows is to make the mind extremely moist with love and compassion. Then, distinguishing between the generation of Bodhicitta in the Great and Small Vehicles, here, with compassion, without dwelling on the path of peace, but for the sake of all sentient beings who pervade the sky, I will practice the six perfections, etc. Such thoughts are compassion focused on the benefit of others. With wisdom, after abandoning all the happiness of conditioned samsara, high and low, the supreme state of perfect and complete enlightenment, the unconditioned and excellent bliss, is to be attained by all beings who pervade the sky. Such thoughts are wisdom.
