Thinking about its nature being impure, the result being many harms, etc., one must definitely turn away from the desire for women. Furthermore, all thoughts of pursuing the eight worldly concerns should be regarded as enemies, and no matter how many evil thoughts of desire arise, one should contemplate their faults for a long time, blaming oneself and abandoning them from the bottom of one's heart. Second, the main practice of meditating on contemplation, there are many ways to meditate, but here, cultivating the mind of enlightenment is divided into two: cultivating self-other equality and cultivating self-other exchange. The first is: oneself and all sentient beings equally desire happiness and equally do not want suffering, it is unreasonable to protect only oneself and not others, so one must cultivate self-other equality. As it is said, "The equality of self and others, one should strive to cultivate from the very beginning, because happiness and suffering are equal, protect everything like oneself." Therefore, one should first cultivate the mind of enlightenment of self-other equality. The method is as follows: all sentient beings equal to the extent of space, there is no one who has not been my parents and relatives. As the teacher Nagarjuna said, "If the number of mothers were collected, even a small jujube seed-sized ball, the earth would not be able to bear its weight." etc., through scriptural and logical proofs, determine that all sentient beings are one's own relatives. From then on, when happiness arises in oneself, one should cultivate from the bottom of one's heart, may all sentient beings have my happiness and the cause of happiness like this. Also, when suffering arises in oneself, one should cultivate from the bottom of one's heart, may I and all sentient beings be separated from suffering and the cause of suffering like this. At that time, such obstacles to thought may arise: eliminating one's own suffering does not require relying on others, and others eliminating suffering cannot be accomplished by oneself. If the mind of the Hearer arises, as it is said in the "Entering the Path of Enlightenment", "Future suffering is also like this, if it does not harm, why protect it?". Since this is the case, why should one strive to obtain future freedom from illness, food, clothing, etc.? Because oneself ceases in an instant and will transform into another afterwards. To this, if because of the habits of ignorance, one thinks that the future is also oneself, then

The error lies in thinking, as stated in the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra (Entering the Path of Enlightenment): "The thought 'I experience it' is a false conceptualization. For in this way, birth is another, and death is yet another." It's like a fool thinking, 'This river carried away my clothes last year, and tomorrow I will cross this river.' But the river that carried away the clothes last year is another, and the river to be crossed tomorrow is another. Similarly, the past mind is not me, and the future mind is not me, but another. If someone thinks, 'Although the future mind is not the present me, it is the continuum of my mind, and thus I accomplish my own benefit,' then, regarding other sentient beings, even though they are not me, the thought 'they are my sentient beings' should lead to engaging in the benefit of others. If, like a head and the eye of a needle, each strives for its own sake, thinking that they cannot accomplish things for each other, then, as stated in the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra: "The suffering of the foot is not by the hand." If a thorn pierces the foot, why should the hand remove it? Similarly, dust entering the eye being dealt with by the hand, parents caring for their children, putting food into the mouth with the hand, and so on, would all have to be done by each for their own sake, which would be excessive. In short, if one does not accomplish things for each other, but each accomplishes their own things, it is very difficult to succeed. Therefore, one should understand this and then strive for the benefit of sentient beings. Second, the cultivation of exchanging oneself for others, the mind of enlightenment. As stated in the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra: "If one does not perfectly exchange one's own happiness for the suffering of others, one will not attain Buddhahood, and even in samsara, there will be no happiness." Therefore, give one's own happiness to sentient beings and take on the suffering of sentient beings. Its object of focus is: "Having made the inferior etc. as oneself, and having made others as oneself, with a non-conceptual mind, cultivate jealousy, competitiveness, and pride." The meaning is to place the enemy in a position lower than oneself, and to place the enemy or others in a high position, and to have the self in the high position cultivate jealousy towards the enemy in the low position. When the cultivation is finished, such a thought of cultivation will arise: cultivating oneself as high, cultivating others as low, thus oneself
