Anyone with autonomy is like that, if they haven't encountered two disputes. Anyone with good eloquence is like that, if they haven't encountered two lawsuits. Anyone skilled in speech is like that, if they haven't experienced joys and sorrows. As the saying goes, a mother's nagging is all good. Therefore, good or bad, friend or foe, do not rush to decide anything, but examine it carefully. The above officials and other important figures, in general, need to possess all virtues such as being concise in speech, broad-minded, measured in actions, resilient, kind-hearted, and peaceful in behavior. In particular, they should not be influenced by bribes, laws, themselves or others, high or low status, but should be fair like cause and effect. In general, without officials, who will protect the people? Without people, who will support the king? If the officials are upright, the local people will be happy and strong; if the people are prosperous, it is the glory of the king. As the saying goes, wood supports wood to become pillars and beams; people support people to become officials and servants. Therefore, officials and servants, rulers and subjects should rely on each other like parents. Parents, uncles, maternal uncles, and other elders need to be concise in speech, gentle in nature, healthy in body, peaceful in mind, and strive to recite the Mani (Tibetan: མ་ཎི་, Sanskrit Devanagari: मणि, Sanskrit Romanization: maṇi, Chinese literal meaning: jewel) six-syllable mantra at the time of death. Men need to be measured in wisdom and action, fearful of enemies and the powerful, gentle in speech to relatives and the weak, gentle in character and not lose their autonomy. As the saying goes, in a fight between brothers, the shameless one wins; in a fight between husband and wife, the wicked woman wins. To conquer external enemies and to endure the faults of relatives as much as possible is a good son. Women also need to be less talkative, less scheming, regard their husbands as gods, avoid other men like avoiding diseases, and be skilled in managing the household. Servants, watchdogs, and those who care for livestock and sheep need to be content with their lot, have shame and a sense of propriety. Servants and other inferiors need to be not cunning or deceitful, not steal, and always be loyal, reliable, and concerned for their masters. Thus, whether high or low, anyone must abandon bad intentions, deceit, multi-mindedness, immoderation, and other bad habits from the beginning. As the saying goes, it is best to have no enemy of hatred, and best to have no lice infestation. In general, what is good for one may not be good for all; what is bad for one may not be bad for all. The wishes and karmic appearances of sentient beings are diverse. For enemies, there are also enemies of past karma, enemies caused by one's own faults, and the other party

There are many ways to become enemies, such as through wisdom, lack of means, incitement by others, and one's own inability to analyze. Even enemies can be relied upon to some extent.

It is like this. Conduct refers to one's daily habits of eating, drinking, sleeping, and sitting, as well as one's manner of speaking and behavior. Regarding these two, one must discern for oneself what is good or bad, right or wrong. Inquire of others, learn from the past, and be wary of the future. Act according to one's own abilities and in accordance with local customs. Consider whether one can accomplish great things, whether one is belittling small things, the gains and losses, the good and bad, and whether things will succeed or not. If success is possible, then examine the scale of things. From the beginning, one must be cautious regarding methods, rituals, and the accumulation of merit. As the saying goes, "It is difficult to begin a conversation, difficult to manage affairs, and difficult to conclude Dharma practice." Whatever one undertakes, one must cultivate courage and patience until the end. Do not listen to too many opinions, and do not listen to gossip. If one thing goes well, one must seize the opportunity for success. If one thing goes wrong, one must make amends with a kind heart and without regret. If one makes amends, one must bear the consequences. Through skillful examination and analysis, things will succeed. Through the power of merit, one will attain happiness. Therefore, it is said that to ensure one's happiness in both this life and the next, one must flawlessly accumulate merit in the field of the Lama and the Three Jewels. It is better to accumulate even a spark of merit than to exert effort like a mountain. As it is said: Through the power of merit, aims are accomplished, Like the light of the sun, there is no need to wait. Through the power of effort, aims are accomplished, Like the light of a lamp, one must rely on others. It is like this. Learn from others what you lack. Speak with joy and be amiable in attitude. Do not indulge in activities that empty the mind, such as smoking and drinking. Herd during the day, guard at night, and carefully check the accounts. Do not let things be lost or wasted; accumulate them. Do not lend money to shameless people, and do not do business with unfamiliar people. If one steals from others and deceives internally, commits evil deeds, engages in conspiracies, steals, or robs, one will ultimately lose one's life. In general, if one does not have past accumulations, one cannot progress through effort alone. Accumulating wealth can support people, accumulating merit, and so on. Wearing clothes does not exhaust them, but power diminishes with time. Not being sick does not prevent death; when the time comes, one will die. That is the principle. The wealthiest should donate to Dharma, those of middling means can help others, and even the poorest should ensure their own well-being. If one cannot do that, when the mind is shrouded in darkness, even having wealth in hand is useless. That is the principle. Be gentle in character and have your own principles.
