To dispel the misunderstanding of [bliss], the Blessed One said: 'Because the great elements are bliss, therefore bliss is not that itself.' The so-called bliss of the great elements is because the seed and bliss are the same nature. Even if it is co-emergent, not all things always arise simultaneously. In this way, the essence of co-emergent things is that its ultimate truth is emptiness. Even if one realizes the bliss of conventional truth, not all things always arise simultaneously. Because when experiencing suffering and equanimity, one experiences different moments, such as realizing the fourth dhyana and the formless attainments. In the 'Praise of the Names of Truth' it says: 'The peak of the fourth dhyana.' Among them, the fourth dhyana is the peak of co-emergent joy, the ultimate of unobstructed realization, therefore abiding in that nature, meaning holding that nature. Because one can see the nature of immeasurable great bliss, the three realms, therefore it is the nature of great bliss such as meditation. The Blessed One thus proclaimed hearing different from this, for the purpose of recitation and telling. So, how is bliss called co-emergent? Like the great compassion without object, because one has not seen Suchness, one cultivates the heightened intention that is not truly existent, because it is the nature of realizing Suchness, so the essence of conventional truth is also called co-emergent. Likewise, bliss sometimes in the moment of experience, because one has not seen that itself, the moment of not experiencing is the bliss of heightened intention, inseparable from compassion, its essence is emptiness, cultivating possessing all excellent aspects, therefore the moment of realizing Suchness, transcending the world, naturally accomplished, because it is not artificial, it is called co-emergent. What is experienced in the moment of not realizing Suchness is, defiled, untrue, unexpanded, incomplete, like lightning, the momentary worldly conventional, with fabrication is called co-emergent, because it follows co-emergent, like light. As it says in the 'Great Seal Bindu': 'Whoever here has joy with appearance, appearance increases to great joy.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
