Having aimed at Bodhi, the immeasurable merit accumulated by Bhāviveka, may all beings quickly attain the state of the Victorious One (Buddha). I dedicate the merit arising from the labor of writing this text for its inexhaustible increase. So, what is the fiftieth verse like? As previously explained, abandoning self-will and conforming to the Guru's teachings, it brings all benefits, without omission, to the disciple in the immediate and long term, and is free from the faults of not speaking, speaking wrongly, or speaking excessively, i.e., it is free from these faults. Especially in the 'Praise of Excellence' it is said: 'The accumulation of merit done, is completely dedicated to sentient beings, whatever the Blessed One has said, is not mentioned in other treatises.' Thus, dedicating the virtues of writing, etc., to all sentient beings is something that outsiders do not have, and it is a great skillful means that has become a characteristic of the teachings of the Sage (Shakyamuni Buddha). From the well-spoken words of the guide of the three realms, the 'Fifty Verses on the Guru' collected as they are, for the mind of the faithful disciple, is a wish-fulfilling jewel, a supreme treatise that fulfills all hopes. Through long-term study of the profound tantras and related treatises, the state of mastery has been attained, having read many texts, very clearly, at the urging of the holy ones, it is well explained. Those who are not good at relying on a spiritual friend, who know a little but do not strive to practice, whose diligence is very weak, whose three doors are uncontrolled, for the sake of making me and those like me accustomed to this good path. May all the virtues arising from this be dedicated to limitless beings as a resource. Therefore, for the excellent field of merit that benefits and assists—the spiritual friends—all the negative actions that have been done, are being done, will be done, and have been rejoiced in from beginningless time, may all the sins accumulated by this person be quickly purified, may they become heroes and wise ones who rely on the Dharma properly, may they be like Sadāprarudita and Sādhakapāla! This is the 'Fifty Verses on the Guru' written by the great scholar Bhāviveka, translated from Sanskrit into Tibetan by the Indian Abbot Padmakara Varma and the reviser-translator Bhikshu Rinchen Zangpo, and the commentary established through hearing and explanation after revising the words and meanings, called 'Fulfilling All the Hopes of the Disciple'. Although there is no Indian commentary on this treatise, this treatise is mainly collected from the tantra 'Glorious Secret Assembly'.
